"Montezuma's Revenge"
- June 20
We start off the show with the teams receiving a text
message on the T-Mobile Sidekick II. It says
"Congratulations on making it this far, your final
challenge is tomorrow. Wear your team colors,
swimsuits and sneakers. Be ready to leave by 8:30 AM
to go for the gold." The teams show their excitement
after the news.
Then we see Derrick talking to CT about their teamwork
problems on some of the previous missions. The Bad
Asses team really needs to step up to the plate in the
hopes of winning $150,000.
On the morning of the final challenge, the teams get
themselves prepared. Mike knows that the Good Guys
team is smaller and that makes him so nervous going
into the final mission. Darrell doesn't think there's
a disadvantage or advantage of how many people they
have, it's about working together as a team. Derrick
is psyched and focused and he's ready to do whatever
is thrown at him and he's hoping the team will feel
the same way. Tina's fired up for the first final
mission that she has ever been involved in and she's
amped.
The teams are at the location for the final challenge
of the season called "Montezuma's Revenge". Landon
says this is exactly the jackpot that he's been
dreaming ever since he stepped off the plane there,
and his mind's just racing for the fact that this
could be his. For the final challenge the teams will
compete in serious triathlon and Jamie knew it. The
race is divided into three stages. The first stage is
an open water paddle to the shore. The second stage is
a ten-kilometer bike race. And the third stage is a
five-kilometer foot race where they'll run to the
front door of the Inferno. To open the front door,
they must solve a small riddle. The first team that
makes it to the pit will win $150,000 and the
challenge.
The Bad Asses are feeling positive that they can win
this mission. They can do this provided they don't go
at each others throats. The teams are standing at the
front part of the boat in wait for the final mission
to start. Dave then gives each of the players three
golden keys. Julie then mentions that at each station,
there's going to be locks and chains and they're going
have to try every single lock until their key fits.
Dave tells the teams that to start the triathlon,
they'll have jump off the boat and swim to their
rafts.
The race begins after Dave gives the signal. The GGs
get to their raft first and unlock the chain around
their paddles as they start with Stage 1. The Bad
Asses teamwork is starting to take a back seat on
their raft with their confusing directions and they're
getting stuck. The Good Guys are doing great with
their teamwork as they're moving along. They
eventually reach the shore first and unlock the chain
around their bikes for Stage 2. The GGs are ahead by
four minutes and three seconds. The BAs are gonna have
to work harder to catch up to them.
The Good Guys have a good start in Stage 2 until
Darrell's bike's chain popped out of place. The
problem was eventually fixed but they've sacrificed
some of their lead. The Bad Asses are moving along
smartly and slimming down the GGs lead a bit in the
process. Julie's legs are starting to ache as her team
reaches the end of Stage 2. The GGs almost missed the
chest box and they get their first to unlock it to
open and reveal pairs of golden sneakers inside. They
put them on and advance to Stage 3.
The Good Guys go first in Stage 3 where they have to
run for five kilometers. They're trying to stay
focused but it's becoming not so easy as they have to
go up the big, huge hill. And Jamie and Mike are dying
at that point and their legs are getting tired. The
Bad Asses are having problems of their own in the
third stage as a few of the players are struggling to
make it through.
The Good Guys have made it to the end of Stage 3
first. They now have to unlock the combination to the
box. To do this they have to figure out the riddle.
Each number of the combination are the ages of the
first three members of their team who were sent home.
While the GGs are stuck on this riddle, the Bad Asses
are on their way to the home stretch. But the Good
Guys have figured out the combination, opened the
front door, got into the pit and won $150,000! The GGs
were really lucky and felt very good about their big
win.
According to Landon, it was like a fairy-tale
challenge for the GGs as far as we started sucking,
they were 0 and 3, they were struggling and fighting
from behind losing almost every Inferno. And to come
at the end and win the whole shoot and shebang, it was
a big, like moral lesson: The Good Guys can finish
first.
Mike had so much fun on the Inferno II. His most
happiest moments were every moment he was on it and
that's definitely saying something. According to him,
it's going to be really sad leaving.
The Bad Asses finish in second place with any dignity
they have left. Both teams give each other the
high-five. CT feels disappointed that his team didn't
want to win as much as the Good Guys did. Tonya is
also disappointed that her performance and their
failure to get their act together killed the Bad Asses
team's chance of winning 150K. It was shown inside and
outside the games and they learn that it doesn't pay
to be a Bad Ass.
Host Dave hands the Good Guys a check for $150,000.
They have a final bank total of $230,000 and that
means Mike, Landon, Darrell, and Julie each get
$57,500. And they also each receive a 42-inch Dell
Plasma Screen TV. The Bad Asses end the season with a
final bank total of $70,000. Abram, CT, Derrick,
Rachel, Tina, Tonya, and Veronica each get $10,000.
The Bad Asses are proud of the Good Guys in the end.
And speaking of the end, we've reached the end of
another season in the Inferno II. I don't know when
the next season of "The Real World/Road Rules
Challenge" will commence. But, if I do, I'll let you
GSNN readers know. From Cloquet, MN, this is Brian
Moore, saying goodbye and be kind.
