Handsome Reward -
January 18
Previously on The Duel,
20 challenge competitors arrived in Brazil for to
compete for the biggest prize in challenge
history...$300,000. After a series of grueling
challenges, only six players remained in the game.
At the "Paddle Me" challenge, Jodi and Wes moves
past the opposition securing their final spots in
the challenge. In the final Duel, C.T. blew up after
his disqualification with Brad. And Aneesa lost to
her good friend, Svetlana. Only four players remain
to compete for $300,000.
We start with Brad, Jodi, Svetlana, and Wes having
their last meal together. Then they get their final
clue...
> Tomorrow is your final challenge. Be ready to
leave at 6:45 AM.
The next day, the participants pack up their stuff
in preparation for their final challenge. Then a
helicopter lands to pick them up to be taken to Rio
de Janeiro to meet up with T.J. The series' final
challenge is called "The Rio Deal", which is a
footrace through the national park. Along the course
the players will encounter several challenges and at
the end there are two flags. One flag is for a guy
and the other is for a girl. Those flags will
entitle them to one ride to the finish line. The guy
and girl who crosses the finish line will split
$300,000 between themselves for $150K a piece.
But first the guys and girls will compete to see
which of whom will be given a two-minute head start.
Each of the men and women will kick five soccer
balls in a "penalty shootout" style against their
opponent of the same sex. The guy and girl who makes
the most goals will both be given a two-minute head
start.
Since Wes and Jodi won the previous challenge,
they'll both decide who'll go first. The ladies get
their first turns and Jodi will defend the goal
first leaving Svetlana to Kick. At the end, she
managed to make only one goal. Jodi did the kicking
next and scored two, winning the head start. Wes
decides to be the goalie first and Brad ends his
turn with only one goal. Wes then won the head start
a 2-1 lead going into the race to the finish line.
As T.J. gives the signal to start the race, Wes and
Jodi make their moves carefully through the slightly
treacherous terrain. Svetlana and Brad are just kind
of sitting there whistling Dixie hoping to God that
they fall off the mountain and just tumble to their
death. They get to their first stage...
Stage 1: Brazilian Blocks
These four cubes must be carried, one at a time, up
the hill and placed in the puzzle tray. Once all
four of your cubes are in the tray, you may begin
solving the puzzle.
Then Brad and Svetlana start their run to the finish
line. As Wes gets all of his four blocks together,
Jodi tells him that he has thirty minutes to solve
the puzzle. Failing to do so means he must move on
to the next stage with lost time. Wes then gets the
go-ahead by one of the staffers after his puzzle is
deemed correctly-placed. He then knocks the blocks
off in attempt to hinder Brad's chance at taking the
lead. However, his puzzle gets done by the time Wes
is halfway down the mountain somewhat ensuring a
close finish.
Stage 2: Teeter - Totter
Using the rocks, fill in the box to counter balance
your exact weight on the Teeter - Totter. Once the
Teeter - Totter is level for 5 seconds, you may
advance to the next stage.
Wes is already on the objective by the time Brad
gets to this point. After Wes completes the task, he
runs off before Brad completes the task also.
Meanwhile, back at Stage 1, Jodi's having a hard
time with the block puzzle until she finally
completes. Svetlana, however, failed to complete the
puzzle so she gets a pass to the next stage. Then
Wes and Brad make their runs toward the flag.
Congratulations!
PLEASE PRESENT THIS FLAG TO THE PILOT AND HE WILL
TAKE YOU TO THE FINISH LINE.
Wes gets to the flag first before saying goodbye to
Brad and taking a hangglide to the beach. Then Jodi
grabs the other flag leaving Svetlana behind and
taking the other hangglide to the beach. Over there
Wes and Jodi make it to the end and get their big
checks for $150,000, And downing sports drinks to
celebrate.
And there you have it folks, another season of The
Real World/Road Rules Challenge has come to a close.
I hear of another season of the challenge coming up
this Spring, and I hope to cover it when it does
come up. Goodbye, folks!
