3.29 In the three year history of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader", fourteen person have made it all the way to the million dollar question. But so far, only one person has cracked the code to win the money. Will the show's final contestant in primetime be the second person to go all the way? The final contestant is a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who helped prove the Big Bang Theory. From Palmer Elementary in Palmer, AK, here comes GEORGE FITZGERALD SMOOT III! He looked like a scientist even then. And even now, he's got the Nobel Prize in his pocket. The board he's working from...
First to help is Jenna. And first to play is Earth Science...
He goes with spring... and he's right for $1000.
George goes with A... Jenna said the same thing... and they're right on for $2000! Next up is Jonathan to help and this for $5000...
George decides to PEEK at Jonathan's paper. He went with TRUE. George decides to play strategy and go with "FALSE". Correct answer is "True"... SAVED, and we move on.
George has it right on with 60, so he's going to see a milestone question. Olivia's going to help...
George locks in Europe, that's where he collected his Nobel Prize... for the $25,000... IS RIGHT!
George tries out John F. Kennedy... Olivia agreed... They're BOTH RIGHT! Next up... Bryce.
He tries true... It's TRUE! George says that if he wins the money, he's going to travel and buy and auto-lube shop in Vegas.
George decides to go with his gut and say "brain". Everyone else said brain... and everyone else is right for $175,000! Time for Frankie to go to the head of the class...
The man was Yuri Gagarin. That's not what the question asked, but we do know that he's from the Soviet Union. That's what George locks in... and he's nine for nine! One question left on the board...
(C-Note: I happen to know this from experience) George has got a cheat. He might as well use it. He COPIES Francesca's answer. The answer is a cappella. That's what George WOULD'VE said if he went out on his own. Francesca said... A CAPPELLA! We're going to the Million! You know how this works, George, you can see the subject and still walk away, but if you play the question, you don't get any cheats, and you don't get any help from the class. The Million Dollar Subject... 5TH GRADE US GEOGRAPHY The answer... YES! For $1 million... The question...
He's thinking either one of the coasts... Either Maine or California... All the kids can do now is watch. Maine feels better... He's going with MAINE. If it's Maine, George Smoot is a millionaire. He's made history with the Big Bang Theory... ... as for 5th Grader...
