Episode 3.13 - Holdover Episode #1
December 5

An army sergeant who can do 96 pushups is about to face heavy fire from things that she should've known before suiting up. And here to help her... last year's class? It can only be what we call in the business... a holdover episode from season 2.

First up tonight is a 24-year-old Army sergeant from Meadow Lake Elementary in New Hope, MN... ROSE MATTIE. She just came back from Iraq. She's also on the Arizona National Guard biathlon team, is a mechanic, and her nickname is "Ranger Barbie".

Taking on the board first is Cody.

1st Grade Grammar $1,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
How many nouns are in this question?

The nouns are "nouns" and "question". So that would be two. Rose... goes with that. Good.

1st Grade Animal Science $2,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
TRUE or FALSE?
Horses can sleep standing up.

Rose thinks that it's true... Correct again!

Round 2 goes to Sierra.

2nd Grade Art $5,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
TRUE or FALSE?
If you mix equal parts of orange and red together, you'll make a tertiary color.

She totally misses the primary colors. She goes with TRUE, though. Correct. Primary: Red, Yellow, Blue. Secondary: Orange, Purple, and Green.

3rd Grade Measurements $10,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
If Cody's baby sister is 8 pounds, how many ounces does she weigh?

Eight pounds... 16 ounces a pound... 16 times 8... is 128. Rose thinks about 108, but uses a PEEK just to make sure. Sierra said... 128. She goes with her own answer hoping that the save will kick in...

It does. SAVED!

This is for safe money. Helping her to that is Nay-Rod...

2nd Grade English $25,000   COPY
Which of the following prefixes means "again"?
a) un-
b) co-
c) re-

Rose rules out A... and thinks about C. She locks it in... and locks in the money.

5th Grade Science $50,000   COPY
What is the lightest noble gas?

Nathan's quick. Rose thinks about the stuff they put in balloons... Helium... IS RIGHT!

Next up to play is Mackenzie.

4th Grade World Geography $100,000   COPY
Copenhagen is the capital of what European country?

Mackenzie is locked. She doesn't want to fire the gun on this one. Rose drops out with $50,000. Correct answer: Denmark.

DROP OUT: $50,000

Next is a 22-year-old cafe-and-catering owner from John H. Malcolm Elementary in Dana Point, CA, JORDAN RICHEY. He's known for starting a food fight in a cafeteria and denying involvement in the face of taped evidence.

It's Jordan and Nathan against this board first...
