Episode 3.15 - Mystery Desk #1
December 12

Last time, the current class took on the challenge of a priest and a rabbi. The rabbi left the game with $25,000. We'll see how the priest does... tomorrow.

But right now, we have another twist in the game involving our next player, registered nurse JESSICA HAROLD. She'll have SIX people to cheat off of as Jeff unveils the newest twist of the game... THE MYSTERY DESK... (ooo-eeee-oooooo).

First in the Mystery Desk.... Cody's twin brother Brody. First in the Helper's Desk... Cody's twin brother Brody. Here is the board.

1st Grade Math $1,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What's the sum of the whole numbers 1 to 6, including 1 & 6?

Brody's locked in. Jessica locks in with 21. 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 21!

3rd Grade Health $2,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
TRUE or FALSE?
When someone is nearsighted, they have trouble seeing things far away.

As a nurse, she should know this. It's TRUE for $2000.

Next to help out is Sierra.

1st Grade Social Studies $5,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
The National Archives, which houses the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, is located in what US city?

She's not really sure, so she PEEKS. Sierra says... Washington, DC. Jessica was going to go with that... She does. She gets $5000.

2nd Grade Animal Science $10,000   COPY SAVE
TRUE or FALSE?
Chameleons are the only species of lizard that can change their color based on their environment.

Jessica goes with TRUE. That is... not right.

Olivia had TRUE. Rest of the class had false... That is right. Sierra can save Jessica only if she had FALSE.

Sierra said... FALSE.

FLUNK OUT: $0

That was fun.

Next up, a financial aid officer from Montclair, CA... GARRY DREDGE. He too will play with the aid of six thanks to... the Mystery Desk (oooo-eeeeee-oooooooh). Sitting in it for his round... his mother in law Sylvia!

Needless to say, we won't go with her today. We'll start with Olivia and these categories.

4th Grade World History 4th Grade Grammar
3rd Grade World Geography 3rd Grade English
2nd Grade Animal Science 2nd Grade US Geography
1st Grade Science 1st Grade Spelling

Garry always liked Science, so that's what we go with first.

1st Grade Science $1,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
A raisin is the dehydrated version of what fruit?

Garry goes with grape, and we give him $1000.

2nd Grade Animal Science $2,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
TRUE or FALSE?
Tasmanian devils are now extinct.

Garry locks in FALSE... and that is correct. They're very much alive.

Next up to help is Mackenzie.

2nd Grade US Geography $5,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
Excluding Alaska and Hawaii, the USA has four time zones. Eastern, Central & Pacific are three of them; what's the fourth?

Garry goes with Mountain Time... and that's right.

3rd Grade World Geography $10,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What city is the capital of China?

Garry tries out Beijing... and is right for $10,000.

Time for the milestone question. And here to help... Nay-Rod.

1st Grade Spelling $25,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
How many times does the letter "S" appear in the following word?

The word is "desert".

He thinks about the clue that Jeff gave him... "Mojave". That gives him ONE S. ... and that gives him $25,000!

4th Grade World History $50,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
CLASSROOM CLUB QUESTION from Melanie of Clay Springs School
Ponce de Leon, who sailed on Columbus' second voyage, is credited with discovering what current US state in 1513?

Garry wants to say Florida... but he PEEKS to make sure.

Nathan says... "Florida". He agrees... and gets the freeball.

Next to help is Sierra, while Sylvia just... watches.

3rd Grade English $100,000   COPY SAVE
Which of the following is a palindrome?
a) Vroom
b) Jumbo shrimp
c) Race car

Garry goes with "vroom".... and that's not right. A palindrome is the same forwards as it is backwards. The correct answer is C. The kids got it right. Sylvia... didn't. She goes with B, which is an oxymoron.

But unfortunately, we're out of time on this show. We'll find out what Sierra said next week. Tomorrow, it's Holiday Show Part 2.
