Episode 3.16 - Holiday Show Part 2
December 18

Last week in the classroom, we celebrated the holidays with a rabbi who made $25,000. Now it's time for the Reverend Rick Miles to go for the million and quite possibly the restoration of family honor (remember, his kid didn't answer the MDQ).

When we last left the class, Rick won $2000, and Bryce was about to take on the $5000 question. Here it comes...

2nd Grade World Geography $5,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What's the southernmost country in Africa?

The Rev goes with South Africa... Sounds easy enough. Is easy enough for $5000.

2nd Grade US History $10,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
The Pilgrims who sailed on The Mayflower to the New World in 1620 crossed what ocean on their journey?

Rick takes the Atlantic... Good for $10,000!

Now comes the milestone question with Francesca. Here's the question for safe money.

3rd Grade US Geography $25,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What river, that's over 1,400 miles long, flows through the middle of the Grand Canyon?

Rick thinks about it for a moment before locking in the Colorado River... and he's locked in $25,000!

3rd Grade Science $50,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
A lever is a simple machine that pivots on a point. What's that point called?
a) Fulcrum
b) Levee
c) Pulley

Rick takes the freeball on A... Good!

Next up is Olivia. She's scared of Math, so we go to...

4th Grade Literature $100,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
In the book "The Odyssey" by Homer, the mythical monster Cyclops had how many eyes?

Rick remembers the story well with the Cyclops and his one giant eye. That's six giant figures.

5th Grade World History $175,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
The United States of America is named after Amerigo, an Italian explorer who was born in the 15th Century. What was Amerigo's last name?

Rick knows that it's Vespucci for $175,000!

Last up for the money is Jonathan.

4th Grade Math $300,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
If an isosceles triangle has side lengths of 5 and 8, what could be the length of the third side?
a) 3
b) 5

c) 13

This is the level where the rabbi crashed out last time.

An isosceles triangle has two equal sides. Does Rick know that? He tries 5... as does Jonathan... Both are right!

Last category before the million...

5th Grade Cultural Studies $500,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
Legendary Native American leader Geronimo was a chief of what tribe?

At this late juncture in the game... Rick finally takes a cheat... PEEKING at Jonathan's answer gives us... "Chumash" Instead, Rick takes the answer of "Apache".

Bryce's answer... "Leno"... LENO?!

Jonathan can't save Rick, because "Chumash" is wrong.

Rick.... IS RIGHT!

Now it is a matter of honor. Last time someone related to Rick went for the million, she completely screwed it. Her question in "History", as a refresher: What American pilot was the first person to exceed the speed of sound in an airplane? He knew it was Chuck Yeager. She didn't.

We'll tell you right now that the Million Dollar category is..

5TH GRADE MUSIC.

Will he risk $475,000 for a shot at the million? NOOOOO.

DROP OUT: $500,000

But HAD he gone for it..

5th Grade Music MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION
What composer wrote the "1812 Overture" in 1882?

And Rick knew it. So did Meghen... It was Tchaikovsky. But hey, $500,000 is a nice redemption indeed!

We continue with Garry Dredge's question from last time next time. Confused? You won't be if you tune in.
