Like Father, Like
Daughter
March 23
Tonight, a father-daughter team from
California will try their hand at the games of the 60-Second Circle in
hopes of taking home $1 million.
They are WAYNE KAWAMOTO & his daughter
DARCY (Tustin, CA). They're very alike, very driven, and very wanting to
help people. They're playing this to put Darcy through dental school.
LEVEL 1: MAD DOG:
One contestant must hold a ruler with two boxes of breath mints attached, then
using mad-dog-like reflexes, the contestant must empty the boxes. Another
contestant must do likewise.
As always, "failure to complete this task in 60 seconds may result in
ELIMINATION."
First attempt: COMPLETE (:25, $1000)
BLUEPRINT BONUS LEVEL 2: PING TAC TOE (for 10 extra
seconds): Using red ping-pong balls as Xs
and Os and nine water-filled glasses as a grid, you must get three in a row
either across, up and down or diagonally.
First attempt: FAIL (TIME OUT, two lives
remaining)
Second attempt: COMPLETE! (:18,
$2500). The 10 seconds bonus are now in play.
LEVEL 3: READY SPAGHETTI:
Using a single strand of dry spaghetti in their mouths, the contestants must
transfer pull-tab soda cans from one table to another, building a three-can
pyramid. No hands allowed.
First attempt... COMPLETE (:01, $5000)
LEVEL 4: BOOBY TRAP:
The contestant must use ping pong balls to knock a leaning potato chip can over
a soda bottle. This must be repeated three times.
First attempt (Darcy)... COMPLETE! (:49,
$10,000)
BLUEPRINT BONUS LEVEL 5: SPOON TUNE (for an extra
life): The contestant must arrange 10
water glasses so that when tapped with a spoon, they play the first 10 notes of
"Row, Row, Row Your Boat".
They choose to activate the 10-second lifeline.
First attempt (Darcy).... FAIL (TIME OUT,
one life remaining)
Final attempt (Darcy).... COMPLETE
(:21, $50,000). Extra life is now in play.
LEVEL 6: LAYIN' TRACK:
The
contestant must place clips of staples to form a track on a slanted table, going
over three sections of erasers. Then they roll a marble down the track in hopes
that it lands in a glass 12 feet away.
First attempt (Darcy)... COMPLETE (:08,
$75,000)
L EVEL
7: CYCLONE:
The contestant must spin marbles inside of three soda bottles at a time. The
spins must be simultaneously held for a three-count.
First attempt (Wayne).... FAIL (MARBLE OUT, ONE life remaining)
Final attempt (Darcy) .... FAIL (MARBLE OUT, GAME OVER). But Wayne &
Darcy are leaving with $50,000, which is a great start for dental
school.
