Second Chances
January 26

MARK STANIEC (45, San Luis Obispo, CA) was on the very first episode of Minute to Win It. He left the 60-Second Circle empty handed. Not many people get a second chance at a big payoff, but that's what Mark is going to get tonight.

LEVEL 1: HANKY PANKY: Using only one hand, a contestant must empty an entire box of 160 tissues.

As always, "failure to complete this task in 60 seconds may result in ELIMINATION."

First attempt: COMPLETE (:27, $1000)

LEVEL 2: NOODLING AROUND. Using only one uncooked strand of spaghetti in their mouth, a contestant must pick up SIX pieces of penne pasta from the table. Any use of hands is a foul, resulting in an automatic loss of life. Break the spaghetti strand, and you must start over.

First attempt: COMPLETE (:07, $2500)

BLUEPRINT BONUS LEVEL 3: BOTTOMS UP (extra 10 seconds): Using a yo-yo attached to their backside, a player must knock down six soda cans.

First attempt: COMPLETE (:22, $5000). The extra time is now in play.

LEVEL 4: JOHNNY APPLESTACK: The contestant must stack five red delicious apples in a free standing apple stack. If the tower falls, it can be restacked.

First attempt: FAIL (TIME OUT, TWO lives remaining)

Second attempt: COMPLETE (:10, $10,000)

BLUEPRINT BONUS LEVEL 5: SPOON TUNE (extra life): The contestant must arrange 10 water glasses so that when tapped with a spoon, they play the first 10 notes of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat".

First attempt... COMPLETE (:17, $50,000). A far cry from nothing, and now he has extra time AND an extra life.

LEVEL 6: STICKER PICKER UPPER: Using an inverted platter, a contestant must roll an egg toward four stickers, picking them up. If they crack under the pressure, they will lose a life.

First attempt: COMPLETE (:14, $75,000).

LEVEL 7: WHAT A RACQUET: The contestants must guide a gumball to the center square of a tennis racquet using only his hips.

First attempt: FAIL (TIME OUT, TWO lives remaining)

Second attempt: FAIL (TIME OUT, ONE life remaining)

EXTRA TIME ACTIVATED!

Final attempt: COMPLETE (1:03, $125,000)

LEVEL 8: MAG-NUTSTACKER: It's the classic MTWI game turned on its head, as the contestant must now assemble the six-story nutstack using magnets to create a chain.

Mark decides.... NOT to attempt the stunt, walking with $125,000.

Normally, once they see the stunt, it's game on, but... oh well. Good on ya, Mark. More tricks you can try at home next time.
