"Episode 38: The $5
Million Season Finale" - June 5
Last time, Cindy McQuay sold a $5
case for $94,000. Meanwhile Oscar Sistrunk sold a $75 case for
$137,000. Tonight, quite possibly the biggest deal in the making
as someone has a chance to go for $5 million!
Apparently the prize is so big that
we needed a fleet of police and a DHL truck to deliver it from
the bank to the stage at NBC Studios.
Either that or they're mimicking the
open of the Aussie/Dutch versions. In any event, it looks wicked
cool, as the models exit the van and enter the stage. In one of
their cases... a prize so big that whoever wins it will make
television history. But who will get that big chance?
It's going to be... CASEY BELL!
She's going to be Howie's last contestant this season, so it's
only fitting that we goes out with a bang. Casey's a school
counselor with a lucky pen that she got when she was at a show
in Las Vegas with Celine Dion. She's a huge fan.
And as a change, we're bringing out
the loved ones early, as husband, best friend Andrea, and mother
Nancy are here to cheer Casey on.
Casey thinks we're playing for $1
million. Not true. Then she thinks, $3 million? Not true.
Tonight, Deal or No Deal is being played for $5 million. Here's
your board...

That's a three-out-of-26 chance
at a million. She wants to start a scholarship for the kids, and
to that end, she picks our #23. Aubrie delivers, and that'll be
the last we see of her for this season.
But we have to play the game, you
know... Let's start with six.
Case 1
(Claudia) |
$75,000 |
Case 26
(Lindsay C) |
$500,000 |
Case 4

Case 25
(Sonia) |
$100 |
Case 10 (Anya) |
$200 |
Two... meaningful amounts. Not
going to say huge, because we have pretty huge. Before we talk
to the banker, though... Casey entertains us with her best
Celine Dion impression... That's ... that's something. Okay, now
we can talk to the banker...
Then some awfully-close-looking
Celine Dion lookalike entertains us with her... (Gordon whispers
something into my ear)... Oh, that IS Celine Dion... Well I'll
be...
Okay, more from her in a bit, but
let's go to the banker first...

It's a big first offer, because
of the big money to be won today. Five cases left if she doesn't
take the offer. So, Casey... $37,000. Deal or no deal?
She's going to say "no deal!"
That's the first in a line of unheard of bank offers.
Five to go.
Case 12
(Jill) |
$500 |
Case 14
(April) |
$250,000 |
Case 15 (Lanisha) |
"Good choice."
$1,000 |
Case 6 (Megan) |

"My girl Kasie,
#19." |
$300 |
Another good round. Which means
another good offer. But first, it's revealed that the banker is
a huge Celine fan... Funny, I don't remember him being a fan of
anything outside of torturing small puppies.
Casey entertains us with her best
Celine Dion impression again...
Then some awfully-close-looking
Celine Dion lookalike entertains us with her... (Gordon whispers
something into my ear)... Oh, that IS Celine Dion... Well I'll
be...
Okay, more from her in a bit, but
first, since we have an hour and a half to fill, let's go to
Thorpe Schoenle's house, where one of the 26 is making a special
delivery, a check for $464,000.
And now, the banker...

Wow. That's quite a second offer.
"If you keep these large amounts in play, the offers are going
to become ridiculous." The sidelines say "No deal."...
Casey... No deal!
Obligatory shot from the DHL
guys... and four to go.
Case 3
(Lisa) |
Holy smokes....
$2,500,000 |
Case 2
(Stacey) |
Better...
$50,000 |
Case 18
(Alike) |
$750 |
Case 5
(Ursula) |
Bloody hell...
$1,000,000 |
Two of the big three are gone.
The banker is loving it. But so long as the $5 mill is still in
play, the offers will be massive. Case in point...

Lower, but still big. Deal or no
deal? Sidelines are still saying no deal. "You have to risk big
to win big. NO DEAL!"
Three to go.
Case 20
(Marisa) |
For 20 of her students in
the audience.
$25,000 |
Case 8 (Pilar) |
$75 |
Case 22
(Donna) |
$10,000 |
That's going to drive the bank
offer way up. She now has a one-in-8 chance at $5 million.
Better than any lottery, and better than being struck by
lightning.
With the $5 million still in play
and a 62.5% chance of having $5000 or less... the banker says...
"A lot to walk away from."

|
That is six figures right there.
Indeed a lot to walk away from. Andrea says "no deal." What's
$175,000? "That's like, decades of work, I think." Deal or no
deal?
The crowd says no deal... "No
deal!"
Two cases left... Pick wisely.
Case 16 (Kim) |
Not the
penny.... but $5,000.
And Celine serenades. |
Case 9 (Patricia) |
She looks at it
with one eye.... Okay, the other eye. Actually, Howie lets
Casey open it.
....
$5 million. |
Needless to say.... DAMN, SON!
Banker calls...
BANK OFFER

She says that she'll still take
$79,000. She still has a bit of a safety net. "One more case!"
the crowd shouts. Deal or no deal?
"I'm going to go with the
audience. One more case!" No deal!
Case 11 (Katie) |
"My heart is
beating so fast." $1 |
That's more like it. Let's see
what the banker says... "Moving back on up."
BANK OFFER

The crowd starts chanting "One
more case" again. Nancy says take the deal. Husband, "If you
push it... it skyrockets."
"No deal!"
One more case...
Case 21
(Tameka) |
"This is the craziest game
I've ever ever opened a case for."
$100,000 |
Smaller than the bank offer. It's
still okay. The top money is still there. The bank offer is
swayed by Celine's song ...
BANK OFFER
$196,000 |
|
$ .01 |
|
$ 1 |
|
$ 10 |
$ 100,000 |
$ 400 |
$ 750,000 |
Everyone says deal now... "This
may be the last time I ask this question this season... or, you
go on." Will Casey pull the trigger for another case... or will
she push the button?
"Casey Bell... Deal.... or no
deal?"
Husband says to take the deal...
"I did say that if I lost my
safety net, I would take the deal... but I really feel
like going on!"
Howie: "Without risk, there is no
reward."
Celine: "Your husband is right.
You can't think about the $750,000 in your suitcase, you have to
think, 'If I go home with $196,000, can I make some dream come
true?'"
Profound. Casey...
"DEAL!" Deal for $196,000 and a
trip to go see Celine live in concert. "I'm waiting for you in
Vegas!"
But first... Last time I get to
ask this until September, how good of a deal was it?
Nancy had $400. The banker
would've gone up to $270,000. Leyla had... $10. Banker would've
gone up to $410,000. That leaves the penny and the $750,000. As
a reminder, Casey sold her case for $196,000. In it...
Not a great deal. Jenelle had the
penny, but still, Casey's going home, $196,000 richer.
And with that, NBC closes the
book on Deal or No Deal, year one. We'll be back with more
money, more of the bankers, more of the models, and more Howie
in the fall. Until then, a big thank you to all of you for
reading, and...
"We'll see you next fall, on
Deal... or No Deal."
