"Episode 6" - February 27

Last December, 50 million viewers tuned into the worldwide phenomenon that was "Deal or No Deal". Now we're back with a new cycle of shows leading up to its series premiere next Monday. But will we give away the big money this week?

Time to begin the most suspenseful, the most heart-pounding, the most outrageously addictive hour on TV... as we do so with Peter Montesanti, a SWAT officer from Las Vegas. He's used to negotiating under high pressure... but how can he handle the stress of... this?

Bank offer

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000
$ 10 $ 25,000
$ 25 $ 50,000
$ 50 $ 75,000
$ 75 $ 100,000
$ 100 $ 200,000
$ 200 $ 300,000
$ 300 $ 400,000
$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

As a reminder of how the game works, Peter chooses one case. In this case, it's Nancy's 24. That's his case. It can have as little as 1 cent or as much as $1 million. He'll find out how much is in that case by eliminating cases remaining from the board. Whatever the models have, he DOESN'T have. From time to time, the banker will call in an offer to buy back the case for an undisclosed amount, at which point the player must choose whether to deal for the bank's offer... or no deal, to play on for either a higher bank amount or hope that his case is the million dollar case.

But first, he must remove six cases from the gallery.

Case 19 (Anya) $1
Case 15 (Kasie) $25,000
Case 9 (Ursula) $75,000
Case 4 (Lindsay) Lindsay: "I'm hoping it's just a penny..."

It is!
Case 3 (Lisa) $750
Case 22 (Janelle) $400,000

Janelle don't like that.

Now to the dude who doesn't want Peter to be a millionaire... the banker... He calls in with an offer of...

Bank offer:  $17,000

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000
$ 10 $ 25,000
$ 25 $ 50,000
$ 50 $ 75,000
$ 75 $ 100,000
$ 100 $ 200,000
$ 200 $ 300,000
$ 300 $ 400,000
$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

If he chooses the deal, then $17,000 is his. If not, he has to choose another five to open. If he keeps opening small amounts, the chances of him holding a large amount go up, and so do the bank offers. Only a fool would deal at this juncture. He says, of course, NO DEAL.

So we have five to go...

Case 11 (Katie) $300
Case 26 (Lindsay) $5
Case 1 (Claudia) $200
Case 17 (Donna) $1,000,000

D'oh!

Case 5 (Jasmine) $50

The banker sees a little improvement, despite Peter not having $1 mill, so he ups the ante to...

Bank offer:  $22,000

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000
$ 10 $ 25,000
$ 25 $ 50,000
$ 50 $ 75,000
$ 75 $ 100,000
$ 100 $ 200,000
$ 200 $ 300,000
$ 300 $ 400,000
$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

If he doesn't deal, he will have to open four more cases... NO DEAL! After a commercial, Peter opens four more...

Case 6 (Megan) $100,000
Case 2 (Stacey) $5,000
Case 13 (Leyla) Leyla's a bit put off...

$200,000

$ 75 $ 100,000
$ 100 $ 200,000
$ 200 $ 300,000
$ 300 $ 400,000
$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

Peter brought his own SWAT team to help out on his decision, wife Nicole (the decision maker - she makes the big one), fellow officers Manny & John, and father-in-law Benny. They all say the same thing... No deal. So does Peter!

Case 16 (Kim) $500

Good call...

Case 14 (Mylinda) Mylinda don't like that one bit...

$300,000

Case 18 (Alike) After the break...

$50,000

And here's the bank again.... He's got at least 25 percent chance of winning at least $500,000... And therefore, the bank reluctantly offers...

Bank offer:  $68,000

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000

Nicole's freaking out... but Peter wants to play some more.. NO DEAL!

Two to go...

Case 23 (Aubrey) $10,000
Case 8 (?) $400

The bank rings... Howie thinks he's running scared. Peter's got a 1 in 3 chance at six figures... Or he could guarantee himself six figures with the bank offer of...

$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000

$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

A lot of money on the table, and Nicole says "Back away from the button..." NO DEAL! One to open...

Case 12 (Jill) $75

And here's the bank again...

Manny: "ANSWER THE PHONE!"
Howie: He feels like he's surrounded by the Las Vegas SWAT team...

Bank offer:  $199,000

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000
$ 10 $ 25,000
$ 25 $ 50,000
$ 50 $ 75,000
$ 75 $ 100,000
$ 100 $ 200,000
$ 200 $ 300,000
$ 300 $ 400,000
$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

A lot of money on the table again, and Nicole wants to start a college fund with it, but this time, NBC feels like he shouldn't make the decision unguided... Another phone call from the bank...

("The Apprentice" theme plays)

Cue Donald Trump, whose show premieres right after this one. After the briefing, Donald says that he would "take the money and go home," but given Peter's age, "No deal".... "I'd say no deal." Peter... takes a break. Afterwards, The Donald sits in the models' section of the crowd, and Peter returns into the catbird seat... Nicole is the only one saying Deal.... and Peter shoots the bones. NO DEAL!

One more to open.

Case 25 (Sonya) Peter: Gimme 10!

You got it!

Peter to the bank: bring it on, baby. It's a record bank offer...

Bank offer:  $279,000

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000
$ 10 $ 25,000

$ 50 $ 75,000
$ 75 $ 100,000
$ 100 $ 200,000
$ 200 $ 300,000
$ 300 $ 400,000
$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

Nicole says deal... Everyone else says "shoot the bones"... "No deal." Peter opens one more....

Nicole: "Baby, what are you doing?"

Case 21 (Tameka) Peter: "Oh my god! What did I just do?"

Model looks dejected... then relieved. Fake out!

$100

The bank calls in another record offer... He's scared...

Bank offer:  $359,000

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000

$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

Ther'es a 2/3 chance that Peter's holding a big one. Nicole wants to get out now... Benny says "shoot the bones!" Trump summons him over... "How badly do you need the money? You know what I'd do? I'd take the money."

So... Deal... or no deal?

"Would this change our lives? Am I greedy?" He flips open the box and presses the button... Deal for $359,000!

But did he make the right one? He'd open up $500,000. And in 24.... $25! He made a FANTASTIC deal!

Will we see the same return in our next game? Howie calls down Cheryl Jackson! She's a wife, a mother of two, a pastor's kid, and a pastor herself. Maybe a little divine retribution is in order?

She picks what we call "The Dodgeball Case", Kim's case, #16. Six to open

Case 4 (Lindsay) $25,000
Case 2 (Stacey) $75
Case 14 (Mylinda) $10,000
Case 1 (Claudia) $400,000
Case 22 (Janelle) $300
Case 12 (Jill) $100

Nice start. One trip up, but the banker, to which Cheryl says "Don't call us, I'll call him", sees fire and offers...

Bank offer:  $10,000

$ .01 $ 1,000
$ 1 $ 5,000
$ 5 $ 10,000
$ 10 $ 25,000
$ 25 $ 50,000
$ 50 $ 75,000
$ 75 $ 100,000
$ 100 $ 200,000
$ 200 $ 300,000
$ 300 $ 400,000
$ 400 $ 500,000
$ 500 $ 750,000
$ 750 $ 1,000,000

Cheryl closes the box. NO DEAL!

Five to go...

Case 15 (Kasie) $100,000

Cheryl: That's fine. I came for a million.
Case 13 (Leyla) $75,000
Case 18 (Patricia) $10
Case 7 (Sara) $200,000
Case 21 (Tameka) $25

So the biggest amounts are still on the board... Cheryl's expecting a call from the banker, but as you know, bankers work on banker's hours... Mr. Banker is done for the day, which means that so are we. We'll get Cheryl's bank offer next time.
