Fun Is Good
November 6

Sometimes you see things on a game show that you wouldn't see normally and that makesit unique and special. Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek switching host roles on April Fool's Day is such an event that comes to mind. They have done it only once and it made for compelling television. And it was fun too.

Something that happened this past week was that sort of fun. The Price is Right had a Halloween episode. Now, this is something that Bob would never have allowed. And everyone got into the act. Drew had bad vampire teeth. Rich had a bad vampire accent (the "Italian Vampire" as Drew called it).

But the sets and costumes were fantastic. Brandi as the zombie bride, Phyre as the mummy...and even The Dob got into the act as a garlic wielding chef in a showcase!

This showed me something--that there is a new energy level at Studio 33. The Bob Barker Studio has been injected with something that you can't just put your finger on. But you know it when you see it.

Is it possible that the Price is Right, in the now three weeks that Drew has been there, has now become Must See TV? With Barker, it was about tradition. With Carey and the new energy, the Price is Right has unlimited potential, with the tradition of the past and the limitless future.

And that is nothing to be scared of.

By the way, if you haven't done so, vote. If you are reading this past Election Day... I thank you for voting. This is not about party or politics, this is about having your say. Many people in this country are willing to vote about their favorite Idol contestant or some such but not about the city, state, or country they live in. That is a truly sad state of affairs. But for those who did, or do their part, I again say thanks.

Jason Block was the guy that put the axe in Brandi's head, by the way. E-mail him at jb.regis@verizon.net.
