An Open Letter to Rosie
O'Donnell
- June 19 Dear
Rosie:
Hey there...long time no speak! Its been seven years.
You remember me, dont you? I was your guest on your
show and we had a really good time. We talked about my
appearance on Millionaire, you treated my girlfriend and
my grandmother nicely and I couldnt have been happier.
Flash forward to last week. You keep saying that you
have been in contact with Fremantle Media wanting the
hosting job for "The Price is Right". You want "Ross The
Intern" from "The Tonight Show" as the announcer.
Ok, Rosie. Heres a bit of a reality check for you. You
are not and will not EVER get this job. Why?
a) You cannot mold the show into "The Rosie ODonnell
Price is Right". You always have been and always will be
very self-centered. Your most recent gig on "The View"
proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt. If anyone
disagreed with you, you shouted them down. And your
opinions on the show left common sense in the rear view
mirror.
b) People do not want the show to change. You stated
that you wanted "hot guys" to model the prizes. I feel
that is very disrespectful to Rich Fields and all the
models who have been there over the past few years to
just throw everything out to what you want. Its what
the fans want that is more important.
c) You have to keep your politics out of the show. Now I
will admit that Barker had influence over the producers
with no fur coats, no meat products and American car
manufacturers as an animal rights activist, but he did
not hammer everybody over the head with it. You have to
admit that your left leaning political opinions and
activities did turn a lot of people off... and still do.
So my friend, heres my advice. Stay out of the
spotlight for a bit. Hang out with your partner and
kids. Write on your blog. Paint, make movies and do the
things that you like to do. And when the people come
calling at your door...take the show that fits you.
Then come September watch Todd Newton host the show you
wanted so much.
