Episode 17.12
March 24
Chico:
From the makers of Polka Band
Jason: Think we get a kick ass violin controller?
Gordon: Are we going to get a copyright infringement lawsuit by Stradivarius?
Chico: Hope not. Besides, I don't think he reads this anyway. Welcome back. We
had a lot of words, now it's time for a few percentages.
Jason: I love numbers. including the 2x, 3x and 5x
Gordon: I like 30-1 myself.
Chico: Hey Gordon!
Gordon: Hey Chico!
Chico: Have any bonuses down there?
Gordon: I have pocket Aces, but not as many as you did, you Texas Hold 'Em Bonus
Ho.
Chico: Heh.
Don: lol
Gordon: Start us off with the percentages.
Chico: Okay. Let's Play the Percentages, starting with...
What's
the percentage that we see the whole of Duel season 2 (that is, all of the
episodes before they get yanked)?
Gordon: When is the show premiering?
Chico: April 4
Gordon: What day is that?
Chico: Friday. NEXT Friday.
Gordon: I'll say 94%. The fact that they are putting their December Flagship
show on Friday shows that they don't have a lot of faith in it. So as long as
they do better than 5 million people (see Amne$ia), it will complete it's run -
and it should be able to do that.
Don: Well, if it's Friday... 90%.
Jason: I will say about 80%. Friday is a dead spot in ABC's lineup and they need
something...anything. It will complete it's run. And Price will compete with
them for only 2 weeks. If they go head to head.
Chico: I like 75% myself.
Gordon: Next one...
Idol
gives back is the week of April 9th. What's the % that both Michael Johns and
Carly Smithson will both be performing on the show as contestants?
Chico: 68%. Carly will most likely be there.. Michael is more of a crap shot. A
nice.... and easy... crap shot.
Don: I'm thinking about 55%.
Jason: I am thinking 75% again....I agree with Chico again.
Gordon: I'm going to be closer to Don. 60%. Can the field hold up that many
rockers? I think both Carly and Michael are on the lower chain.
Chico: What can happen in two weeks?
Gordon: Enough of everyone calling to save Carly could result in people not
voting for Michael, who hasn't done anything in the past month.
Jason: Anything and everything.
Chico: Yup. He's still in search of his voice. Come on, man.. just do an INXS
number and get it over with.
Jason: If he does that...he will be over. No one wants to be a carbon copy of
anything. People will be pissed.
Chico: True. Alright, next up...
Temptation
still can't break past 0.5. What's the percentage that it picks up a second
season?
Jason: 100%. This is the cheapest show to produce. And it's appealing
programming. Unfortunately. For Fox anyway.
Chico: You mean for MyNetwork TV... aka Fox lite.
Jason: Right.
Gordon: I'm going to be middle of the road here. 51% (Yes stat boy, you can yell
at me later). Its cheap, but 0.5 anywhere is pretty dreadful and I don't see it
getting a cushy 1pm spot again.
Jason: I didn't say the spot was going to be cushy. It will get the second
season.
Chico: I'm going to be a little less optimistic and say 25%. It MAY get a second
season... but it'll be just. Nothing's been made official.
Don: I'm thinking 65%. And though it likely won't happen, I still wish they'd be
more like Sale of the Century, or at least the Aussie version of Temptation.
Dang Knock-Offs...
Chico: ... I'm sayin'.
Gordon: Next one...
We've
all seen the Press Your Luck Community Slot Machine. What are the chances that
we'll see a Price is Right Version with the gamblers being on 'Contestant's
Row'?
Chico: 85%. That sounds like the kind of thing that's destined for success
Jason: WMS (the parent company) knows what they are doing with Game Show Slot
Machines. 80%.
Don: I'd say 100%, and I think it's just a matter of "When".
Jason: And Drew Carey has done a slot before. He would jump to do it.
Chico: Sounds awesome. Next
Jason: Gordon didn't give his opinion.
Gordon: 100%. I think if this is successful (which I think it will), then its
only a matter of time.
Chico: Right... Next.
What
are the chances that we'll see a second season of "Million Dollar Password"?
Gordon: 40%. I've seen the previews for Password, and I was not impressed.
Jason: I will say 25%. I think the show...from what I read....doesn't look that
good.
Chico: Really?
Don: 30%. Nothing but "speed rounds" from what I heard... Makes me worried about
it.
Chico: Ouch.
Gordon: A succession of Speed Rounds with no Super Password puzzle Solving Charm
does not a good game show make.
Chico: Ai-yah.
Gordon: I'm hoping Regis can salvage this, but if not, then we have yet another
victim of a Fremantle remake.
Chico: I want to say 50/50 on this. We've seen crap go through before. "Change
for the sake of change"
Gordon: Finally...
The
chances that World Poker Tour on GSN does better than Gordon's chances of
picking up a Texas Hold'Em Bonus Hand
Jason: 100%
Chico: 91%
Don: 95%.
Gordon: Thanks much
Jason: This is going to be GSN franchise.
Chico: I'm wondering if GSN's seriously pubbing this thing.
Jason: Oh yeah. I have seen emails and all that
Gordon: Seriously, 100%. I don't see GSN doing as much advertising on this as
they should, but this should be a huge boost for them.
Chico: Let's hope so, we need some new eps of fare that doesn't begin with
"Bingo"
Gordon: Let's hope.
Jason: http://www.wptongsn.com. Huge site.
Chico: Indeed. Okay, good round of percentages. What's next?
Gordon: Next up...we act.
Chico: I'm ready...
Jason: Me too.
Chico: We open up the theatre on the other side.
