NIGHT 16/DAY 17
- REDEMPTION ISLAND: WHO LET THE KAT IN?
Kat is dissappoint...but at least she
didn't cry for a change. John and Laura M. welcome her with open
arms and proceeds to rip Galang a new one. She swears to do whatever
it takes to get back in the game. What REALLY bothers her is Hayden,
whom she thinks will dump her for failing. John and Laura tell her
that's not true...
...but, in the morning, Kat can't help
letting the tears flow. It's been hard without Hayden by her side...and
she can't help feeling he'll be upset at her for not trying her
best. Again, she vows to win at...
REDEMPTION DUEL: BUILD A FIRE
RI Arena...Uncle Jeff...Tadhana...a
Kat-less Galang. Hayden...not happy. Not the Duelists: John, Laura
M. and Kat. Before a word can be said, Kat asks Hayden to hug her...so
he comes down and does so. Kat admits how she felt Hayden would
feel about her being voted out...but Hayden shakes his head. "My
relationship with Kay," says Hayden, "is even more important
than this game." But Uncle Jeff asks if it's important enough
to take her place in the Duel. Kat think perhaps he should because
the Duel looks like a puzzle, at which she stinks. Hayden asks her
what's better for the couple long-term? Kat knows Hayden can still
win this game. Her praises brings tears to Hayden's eyes. In the
end,...no trade-off; Kat stays in the Duel
And the Duel is this (the same one
Cochran won in the final Camaroan Challenge to secure the
million): untie a machete, use it to cut a rope to release a bag
of puzzle pieces, then use said pieces to complete a vertical fire
puzzle. First two to finish stay on RI to await another Duel. Third
place...hits the bricks. And, of course, the winner gets a 3I clue
to give to someone else (who will, more than likely, send it into
the burning coals).
"Survivors, ready...GO!"
Kat starts out quick with the knots,
but it's John who gets his machete first and wails on the rope like
Jason Voorhees. Kat is second to untie...but her shots are weak.
Her pieces drop second, right ahead of Laura M.'s. The others dump
their pieces...but Kat's bag isn't open wide enough, costing her
valuable time.
Now the hard part. The pieces fit only
in one correct fashion. But it gets easier once the concept is set.
John gets it...Laura gets it...Kat is lost. Hayden watches the others
and tries to help Kat find the right pieces verbally. Laura looks
at John's puzzle to get the idea (illiciting a "cheater"
epithet from Kat). Finally, Kat starts to gain some ground of Laura...but
John is ripping through it. In no time at all, he has it! JOHN
STAYS ALIVE!
So, which girl will join him back on
RI? Well, Laura again looks at John's finished puzzle to try to
figure out the pattern. Galang tries to tell Kat to look at Laura's...but
Kat refuses to cheat. Tadhana aren't proud; they give Kat verbal
clues based on Laura's puzzle. But it's too little, too late. Laura
gets the last pieces in place...and Uncle Jeff gives the news:LAURA
M. STAYS ALIVE!
John has survived four Duels to stay
around, Laura M. her second. But Kat...she lasted 33 days on One
World but is history here after only 17. Another tearful hug
between Kat and Hayden...and he ASSURES her that he won't break-up
with her for this. Kat grabs her stuff, tosses her Buff(TM) in the
urn and heads back to Orlando to continue her studies and sales
work.
Once again, Uncle Jeff asks John who
gets the 3I. Once again, he chooses Monica...and ONCE AGAIN, Monica
chucks it on top of the burnt Buff. Does NO ONE want Immunity in
this game?!?
AFTERNOON
17: SURVIVOR'S GUILT
Back at camp,...it's Hayden's turn
to cry, wondering if he SHOULD have taken Kat's place. He always
helped her through the tough times...and, this time, he didn't.
The one GOOD thing about not worrying about his loved one is that
he can now play HIS game. And that's good, because Aras is already
planning on bringing his brother Vytas into the six of them and
running roughshod through the women of Galang come the Merge. Aras
is the only one among the Tribe who has a loved one on Galang.
As Aras goes alone to meditate - feeling
he's tight with Tyson and Gervase and that Vytas will make them
an unstoppable force - Tyson gathers the Tribe together and talks
to them about that very issue: that the Super Baskauskas Bros could
very well dominate upon a Merge. He's not liking that one bit and
promises to stick with the other four to the Final Five. This shocks
Ciera a bit, given how tight he is with Aras, but she knows Tyson's
smart and an alliance of those without Loved Ones seems the way
to go now. So...the No Loved Ones Alliance is born!

REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: CHAIN RECATION
Mr. Immuni-Ugly gets returned to Uncle
Jeff on Challenge Clearing and we get to the Challenge. Four Tribe
members will be chained ankle-to-ankle. The two outer ones on the
chain will have their wrists caught in a coil. On "go",
the two undo their wrists and then the four traverse and criss-crossing
obstacle course, grabbing bags along the way. Once all the bags
are at the end of the course, the fifth member will untie the bags,
put together a set of bolos and toss them at a horizontal pole target.
First Tribe to have three bolos staying on the target gets to chill
while the other goes back to the Beachfront Circle of Doom. In addition,
the winning Tribe gets a southern-Fried feast of chicken, corn-on-the-cob,
mac-and-cheese, iced tea and lemonade. EVERYONE salivates over that.
Tadhana sits Ciera out. Tyson and Tina will be the bolo tossers,
the others the chain gangs.
"Survivors, ready...GO!"
Gervase and Hayden quickly undo their
wrists from the coils, though Vytas and Monica are on their heels.
The teams go over the small bamboo poles before ducking under a
bamboo mesh to grab the first set of bags. This is where the cluster@#$%
starts; eight people in close quarters undoing knots and threatening
to tangle each other up. Galang manages to get out first while Hayden
stalls. Back to the bamboo poles, Tadhana marches like an army troop
with "inside, outside" cadance...while Galang is confused.
Under the second mesh, Tadhana works quickly. Caleb tries to lead
the others out...but Monica blocks the chain allegedly reaching
for another bag. Aras gets tied up by Vytas. Galang succeeds in
its strategy: both teams hit the finish at roughly the same time.
Now to Tina and Tsyon. All bags must
be emptied before the bolo-making begins. Tina finishes first and
starts to clip balls to chains. But Tyson makes headway with that
and is the first to start tossing. His first shot is good, the second
bounces off. Tina's first lands right. Tyson bounces off the top
rung, as does Tina. Tyson gets one on a corner, putting Tadhana
up 2-1...but he has to run to collect the bolos that missed. good
thing Tina's last shot falls short before SHE has to reload. Upon
gathering, tyson misses and Tina ties it up! Who gets chicken...and
who's the turkey?!.
Tyson...bounces off! Tina...too far.
Tyson...NAILS IT!! TADHANA WINS IMMUNITY AND REWARD!!!
Three in a row...who knew all it took
was one close win and a Tribal Shuffle to get their act together?!
We take the Immunity Idol and head around the corner for some sweet
Southern cookin' that's finger-lickin' good! And Galang...
TRIBAL COUNCIL:
OPEN MOUTH, INSERT TICKET TO REDEMPTION ISLAND
Just when we thought that Vytas was
- quite literally - the odd man out, Laura B. had to say something
about it TO Vytas. The trust was gone and, sadly, so was Rupert's
wife. She joins the other Laura and John on RI...with, perhaps,
one last chance to get back in the game.
