DAY 7: "I ABDICATE MY THRONE..."
(Coulton just can't @#$%ing relax, can he? Ah, well, straight to
the Duel...)
Redemption Island Arena...Uncle Jeff...Galang...
the Rachel-less Tadhana...bummed Tyson. And here are the girls fighting
to stay alive: Candice, Marissa and Rachel. Tyson calls out Tadhana's
play; he's sure they kicked Rachel out because they thought Tyson
would take her place and make Galang weaker. Rachael's sure as well,
thinking the tribe's following Brad's orders. As before, Jeff asks
Tyson if he wants to switch with his Loved One. Tyson asks Rachel...and
Rachel tells Tyson to stay put...so he does...but not before berating
Brad for his play. Brad shouts back that it's been hard on THEM,
too, voting out someone's Loved One every time. Then Marissa speaks
up, saying Tadhana voted off two STRONG people. She even CURSES
Brad...but Gervase tells his niece to relax.
And, then, Coulton speaks up through
tears: "I don't wanna be here anymore."
Ut oh...Coulton wants to "pull
an Osten"...and after only one week. Uncle Jeff accuses Coulton
of not fulfilling his promise of wanting to change. Coulton says
he doesn't care about the Galangs...and Jeff says he's being selfish.
He confirms what many thought before; the appendicitis Coulton claimed
from One World was faked. So Jeff accuses Coulton of quitting
Survivor a SECOND time. Coulton claims it was a bacterial
infection and that his back's against the wall, turning him INTO
"Ol' King Coulton"...and he DOESN'T want that to happen!
"I'm TIRED of being hated by everyone," he cries.
Ah, but Tyson says Coulton WAS the
Ol' King BEFORE his spine struck the plastered vertical surface.
Tina think Coulton's sad because they're not playing the game that
COULTON wants to play. Uncle Jeff asks Coulton to confirm his "my
way or the highway" attitude...and he says, "Maybe...I
dunno..."
"Coulton," asks Jeff, "are
you quitting this game?"
Through the tears, Coulton says, "Yes..."
Jeff confirms Coulton is out...and
asks his Loved One Caleb his opinion. Caleb's heartbroken, not knowing
why someone who loves the game so much would leave. Jeff says that
WATCHING Survivor and LIVING it are quite different...and,
clearly, Coulton should've stayed at home watching BOTH times (harsh,
but true, IMO). Coulton then gets up and sits on Caleb's lap, hugging
him. Caleb tries to convince him to stay...but he can't. Jeff tells
Coulton to keep his Buff(TM), grab his stuff and get out. The student
quitter...er, student teacher has learned a THING about quitting...er,
GROWING and is sent home...the @#$%ing quitter.
REDEMPTION DUEL: DOMINO EFFECT
Well,...now that THAT bit from the
Total Drama Island playbook, let's get to eliminating someone PROPERLY,
shall we? To the Duel, which is a throwback to a task done twice
before (once as a Duel, once as a Challenge). Duelest take angled
blocks and stack them on an angled platform...on springs...attached
to trip bars which could shake the whole thing down. Get 'em all
stacked like dominoes and then knock 'em down. If done right, the
last domino will release a ball that shatters a plate-like tile.
First two to make like a Greek wedding has broken out stays on Redemption
Island to Duel another day. The other...joins Coulton on the long
ride home. And the FIRST to finish gets to decide who (out of EVERYBODY
still on a Tribe) gets a clue to the "3I".
"Survivors, ready....GO!!"
All three pick up a stack of blocks
and get to work. In the 114-degree Fahrenheit heat, the girls move
up and down the long course. Candice appears to be leading again.
She puts the ball in place, goes back to the beginning...and begins
her Domino Rally(TM). Up...down...up...down...to the ball...nudge...roll...CRASH!
CANDICE STAYS ALIVE!
Now the fight against elimination is
on. Marissa tries first...but the dominoes stop before the first
incline. Rachel then bumps a trip bar and knocks half her dominoes
over...so it's still fairly open. Marissa re-stacks...and gets about
half-way down before it stops. Panic starts to set in as both girls
trip and lose standing bricks.
45 minutes into the Duel, neither girl
has yet to finish. Marissa is exhausted from the heat and the pressure...but
Gervase eggs her on. Tyson does the same for Rachel. They both stack
their bricks once again...and Marissa pushes first, with Rachel
two seconds behind. Up...down...up...down...Rachel's stops! Marissa's
continues, hits the ball and breaks the plate! MARISSA STAYS
ALIVE!
Once again, a Vet and a Loved One stay
alive. THIS time, however, it's a Loved One that goes home. Tyson
goes to embrace her, happy that she at least had fun during this
game. Tyson's girlfriend tosses her Buff in the urn and heads back
to Provo to wait tables and design graphics.
And, again, Candice hands the 3I clue
to her hubby John. The girls return to RI and the Tribes head back
to their camps. Tyson's feeling have to be mixed: no Loved One...but
no more whiny quitter Coulton...so...
AFTERNOON
7: SIC SEMPER TYRANNAS?
"Am I being a tyrannt," asks
Brad open returning to Camp Tadhana. The others say he isn't...but
Brad is CERTAIN that he IS...since, well, that's his game. The other
guys seem fine with it. Of course, the Four and a Half Men Alliance
outnumber the girls 5-to-2 now so...
Anyway, John's first clue said something
about a tree between camp and water. The second one has that clue...followed
by:
|
THE WATERFALL
IS REFRESHING
BUT NOT AS REFRESHING AS POWER IN THIS GAME.
FIND THE "SERPENT" IN THE TREES
AND DIG FOR THE POWER TO SAVE YOUR FLAME!
|
|
Huh...so...might not be the water supply
after all. He does change his mind about telling the 4.5MA about
the clues, since he doesn't want the target on his back (remember,
he WAS voted for twice at last Tribal Council). He trusts Brad the
most...so he tells him and him alone. But...John makes it clear
that he wants to look alone for the 3I. This makes Emperor Brad
suspicious of the trust he has for John...but he let's it slide
with him for now.
DAY 8 - REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE:
SUMO AT SEA
|
PUSHING, SHOVING,
BASHING, THRASHING
THIS IS NO REGULAR PILLOW FIGHT.
KNOCK YOUR LOVED ONES IN THE DRINK
OR YOU MAY JUST GO HOME TONIGHT.
|
|
Uncle Jeff takes Mr. Immuni-Ugly from
Galang (they tossed it to him) and gets right to the Challenge.
It's dirt-simple, really (and a repeat from Palau, Fiji and
Heroes v. Villians): one member of each Tribe will take a pillow
and try to push the other person off a platform and into the water.
First Tribe to score five Ring-Outs gets to relax at camp while
the other takes that long walk to Tribal. In addition, the winners
get a choice between comfort items (tarp, pillows, blankets, hammock
and mosquito netting) or fishing gear. As Galang has one extra,
they must sit out one WOMAN this time. Monica volunteers.
ROUND 1 - Brad (TAD) vs. Gervase (GAL)...the
fight of the century of the episode...FIGHT! Gervase goes
on hard and Brad tries to fight him off. With Gervase low, Brad
shoves...and Gervase is in the drink! CULPEPPER WINS! GAL 0:1
TAD
ROUND 2 - Katie (TAD) vs. Laura B.
(GAL)...FIGHT! Katie withstands a grutal push by Mrs. Rupert...but
Laura pushes her from behind and off the platform. LAURA WINS!
GAL 1:1 TAD
ROUND 3 - John (TAD) vs. Aras (GAL)...FIGHT!
They butt pillows like rams in the center of the platform. Aras
gets placed near the edge and, with a solid push...JOHN WINS!
GAL 1:2 TAD
ROUND 4 - Ciera (TAD) vs. Kat (GAL)...FIGHT!
Hesitation...feeling out...then Kat bangs twice to send Ciera swimming.
KAT WINS! GAL 2:2 TAD
ROUND 5 - Hayden (TAD) vs. Tyson (GAL).
They shake hands before they...FIGHT! Hayden...SHORYUKEN!
One uppercut and Tyson dives. HAYDEN WINS! GAL 2:3 TAD.
And Tyson is hurt, his shoulder popping.
Time to bring in the medicos. Ramona, head med, says that the shoulder
is popped a LITTLE and maybe a tendon was torn...BUT, while it's
enough to keep him out of the rest of the Challenge, it doesn't
require him to be removed from the game; it's likely to be less
painful in a few days.
ROUND 6 - Katie (TAD) vs. Tina (GAL)...mom
v. daughter...FIGHT! Katie boxes her mum towards the edge,
Tina trying to stay near-center. Katie has Tina down, but she manages
to regain her footing. The battle rages on...until Tina pushes hard
and sends her kid overboard. TINA WINS! GAL 3:3 TAD
ROUND 7 - Vytas (TAD) vs. Aras (GAL)...Civil
War time. Vytas, the elder, says Aras is trembling on the inside.
Aras wants to "take the bully and put HIM in the water."
It is on like Fei Long (the China Tribe, not the Street Fighter...FIGHT!
Vytas slips and Aras takes advantage, pinning him down. Vytas...isn't
moving much. Aras backs off and asks Vytas to stand up so they can
start clean. Vytas stands...and THWACKS Aras (so much for "clean").
But Aras makes him pay, thwacking him back and into the water! ARAS
WINS! GAL 4:3 TAD. Aras feels bad for (again) fighting his brother...but
he's proud to have finally BEATEN him. Vytas is proud FOR Aras,
and Tadhana is one loss away from sending a third straight person
to Redemption Island!
ROUND 8 - Ciera (TAD) vs. Laura M.
(GAL)...Another mum v. daughter. Laura doesn't want to intentionally
hurt "her baby". But Ciera says, "You're not hurting
me." Well, with permission granted,...FIGHT! Laura pushes
hard, but Ciera fights back. The two push...they shove...and when
you can JUST about hear Shao Jeff shout, "FINISH HER!",
Laura lunges...and Ciera gets soaked again! GALANG
WINS!! IMMUNITY (AND REWARD)!
So naturally, since they already HAVE
the fishing gear, Galang takes the comforts and heads back to relax
again (and probably MORE now that Ol' King Coulson dethroned himself
again). And Tadhana...has to scramble again to see who joins Candice
and Marissa at RI.
AFTERNOON 8: THIS IS GETTING MONON...MONTO...REPETITIOUS!
And the second guessing begins.
Should Vytas had gone against his brother? Or the daughters against
their mothers? The latter question is what the 4.5MA talk about
at the watering hole. John hates the fact that, though he LIKES
Katie and Ciera, they laugh off the losses. He says that Katie's
been strong (and a good cook) while Ciera's been riding on the coattails.
He then leaves to look for the 3I again...
...and THAT'S when Brad tells the others
that John needs to go! You see, if Candace gets Redeemed and the
Tribes Merge, Brad will no longer be in charge of John and the Alliance
is toast...so why not have them reconnect and, hopefully, knock
one or the other out in the process? Hayden...he's not exactly right
with this; it could be (as the title suggests) "opening Pandora's
Box". Still, Brad tells the girls that, if John doesn't go,
it'll be a XX chromosone taking the hike. BUT...Brad says HE'LL
vote for a girl anyway just to throw John off. Vytas doesn't like
that; if they're blindsiding John, they should go whole hog. He
decides it's Brad who cannot be trusted.
As both Brad and John are away from
camp, Ciera spreads her fear that John has the 3I already and will
play it...so SHE thinks they should vote out the Emperor. Vytas
says, "I think it might be smart." No matter what happens,
chances are we'll see a blindside at...
TRIBAL COUNCIL:
TAKE A WALK ON THE BLINDSIDE
A few more visits and I'll start calling
this the Tadhana Memorial Beachfront Circle of Doom we go. For now,
Uncle Jeff welcomes us yet again and we get down to brass tacks.
John admitted that only the men "scored" at the Challenge...but
everyone needed to step up and win their match-up...and they didn't.
Katie thinks that, being there were only two females in the Tribe,
they had to each go in TWICE. Sierra agrees, saying it was embarrassing
and disheartening to lose to your mother.
Caleb says the males are dominating
this Tribe. Vytas doesn't admit to the 4.5MA...but thinks trust
is the "currency" here. Brad says he's blamed for whoever
goes to RI and it's tough on him...because HE doesn't think he's
the "kingpin" of this. When Jeff asks John about Candice
saying she "trusts [John] that he knows what do to with"
the second 3I clue, John says that doing it publicly puts a target
on him...but she trusts her hubby to put himself in a good position.
Vytas is glad that SOMEONE in his Alliance has it...but is equally
happy it's not him.
Hayden admits that John hasn't shared
the clues with him...so it's tough to know if John has the 3I. But,
at the end of the day, he'll take John at his word. Brad then says
that they can't be 100% truthful since, much like the Highlander,
there can be only one...winner of Survivor.
It is time to vote! Once again, the
Loved Ones march to the alcove, write a name on parchment and placed
it in the basket. Only thing we hear is Ciera saying about her (hidden)
vote, "...you are a big threat to me." The tally...the
request for 3Is...John stays silent. The votes:
"Ciera :("...
John...
"Ciera :("...
(enough with the bloody frowny-faces!)
John...
...and JOHN!
In a unanimous blindside, John will
be reunited with his wife on Redemption Island...and, hopefully
for him, BOTH will be Redeemed. Ciera and Katie...smile at each
other, glad that the Four and a Half Men Alliance is down to THREE
and a Half.
Uncle Jeff says that the Tribe votes
for the future...but each vote seems to be making the Tribe WEAKER.
Tadhana chew on that as they march back to their beach.
