"Escape from Santa Fe" - January 24

We started out with 18 men and 18 women, and then we ended up with three men and three women. They've been competing through a series of missions and surviving appointments at Elimination Hill. The only question is... who will win the $180,000 grand prize and gain the title of champions in "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Sexes II."

The begins with the teams relaxing and chatting until they receive a clue on their phones.

>Your final dinner is tonight... come dressed formal. Be there at 8:00 PM...

The teams gather around a table and Dan proposes a toast to the remaining participants. Dan gives positive feedback to Sophia and Theo, then Coral gives positive thoughts to the rest of the group.

After the toast was made, host Johnny storms in with a group of guys all dressed in back and wearing sunglasses. They broke some plates and what not and gathered the teams around the pool table. One of the men in black sarcastically asks the teams that they've hope they enjoyed their dinner. Then they walk in single file with their arms up then stop and continue to walk with their arms at their sides. Another man in black says "Welcome to Hell." They eventually end up at some dark room with white walls and they see host Johnny and the men in black. They are told that the final mission has begun and they will stay there under surveillance until they're heard from Johnny again. Any of the contestants who escape will automatically be disqualified. Sophia is very surprised and said "We're supposed to be rewarded, not be punished!" The teams had to eat crackers and drink water to survive for the time begins. The teams slept from 3:18 AM until 6AM when the loud horns and the loud men in black woke up the players. They are then taken into separate HUMMER vehicles, where inside they pick up a laptop computer containing video information featuring host Johnny wearing in a Splinter Cell uniform. This final mission is called "Escape from Santa Fe." They are told that they're on their way to the first rendezvous point where a plane will take them to their drop zones. Then they must get a GPS device to navigate through a 3-mile course through the desert to the next rendezvous point. From there they must find three Splinter Cell keys to get to the last rendezvous point. Little information is given about that point where they're only told that it's a mental challenge. The winners of this final mission will win the second Battle of the Sexes, $180,000 in cash... and... $45,000 trip for two around the world by STA Travel for a prize package total of $225,000.

The teams go to the Santa Fe Jet Center where they wear skydiving gear and get some training. This may be a problem for Arissa who has height fears and could affect the outcome of this final mission. The guys will jump tandem first then the girls will do the same. Once the teams have hit their jump zones, they then pick up their GPS devices. They also turned on a walkie-talkie device to hear their signal to start with the next part involving a lot of running. They go and do the 1st Splinter Cell challenge where they have to crawl under a grid of real barbwire to find their first key. The guys pick up the first key before the girls do and jump ahead to the next challenge.

For that, the teams must untie the knots and slide the key off the end of the rope. And then use it to unlock the box to retrieve their next dog tag. The girls complete that challenge first giving them their second dog tag and the lead. Then the men get their second key and tag too. The teams then go to their third challenge where they have to find a key underneath the haystack. The boys get there first and have found their last dog tag and jump ahead of the girls who are stuck trying to find that last tag.

The guys then run to a wild west-type area where they run to host Johnny once again. This last part of the mission is a memory game. They're shown a grid of cards that show the Real World and Road Rules cast members (who've participated in this challenge including the ones in play) when they're faced up. At a time, they're allowed to flip two of the cards in concentration style. The cards they find matches on are then used to order the cast members up by season. Meanwhile the girls finally complete the third challenge and are on their way to the finale. The guys orders of the cast members were wrong so they had to correct it. The girls came to the last part of the mission, but they're too late because the guys got the order correct and rang the big bell to claim their big victory!

The guys team of Dan, Eric, and Theo have won the Battle of the Sexes II! The girls were upset at their loss. The guys have won 13 missions and the girls won only three. The guys were presented with a check for $180,000 and three STA world trip cards with their names on it.

Boy, what a wild and crazy ride it has been, but unfortunately, we've reached the end of the road for "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Sexes 2!"

But...maybe not, because next week will be the Reunion Special. Gee, I sarcastically can't wait. Toodles!
