"Semi-Cross" - January 3

It's time to ring in the new year with another episode recap of "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Sexes II."

We start start off the episode by seeing Mark and Robyn at the top half of the bunk bed at having a conversation about their parts in the competition and their lives. After that the teams receve a clue that says "Keep on truckin...Ready?...Steady?...Go! Your next mission is tomorrow morning. Be ready by 8:30 AM Wear pants, long sleeves, and tennis shoes." The teams go to a race track where they see a motor scooter off the track. The host Johnny tells the teams about this next mission entitled "Semi-Cross." There's a semi truck rolling along and towing three trailers in which an obstacle course has been set up.

On the 1st trailer: A balance beam in the form of the letter 'N.'
On the 2nd trailer: Some tires followed by a tipping ramp (you can also call it a see-saw or a teeter-totter).
On the 3rd trailer: Hurdles to be gone over and under.

The semi starts rolling and when the speed reaches 30 MPH, the horn is sounded and the clock starts. Since there are 12 participants total, the teams will go in four heats with three members of each team playing in different heats. The team with the lowest cumulative time total wins the challenge.

The winning team will recieve an Vespa E2 Motor Scooter worth $3,000 for each participant for a prize package total of $18,000. For the team leader picks, there will be the exact same amount as there are players since there are six on each team.

Once the deliberations are done the guys choose Brad, Dan, and Mark while the girls choose Robin, Sophia, and Tina. Brad, Dan, and Mark start Boys Heat 1 and they learn at the start that the course is impossible to do thanks to the trucks movement and wind currents. Mark got a little stuck in the tire. But in the end they clocked in their heat 1 time of 17:05.

The girls have their turn at heat 1 having course problems of their own, especially with Robin at the balance beam. But they've estabilished a time of 17:45.

Eric, Dan, and Theo take their turn for heat 2 setting up a time of 8:25. Coral, Ruthie, and Aryssa do their part in the second heat, but Aryssa is also having problems with that balance beam and the pressure has got to her. Their heat 2 time was 13:19.

For the total times, the girls have 31:04, but the guys win with 25:33. The guys will have to vote off Eric, Dan, or Theo while the girls will have to do the same with Robin, Sophia, and Tina. The male team leaders know who they're voting off and the girls inner circle has already made their decision too.

Over at Elimination Hill, the guys send Shane home in an ironic twist since Shane was saved from elimination previously. The girls send home Robin and left them some good advice in telling them to kick butt and wishing them the best of luck. Five men and five women are left, who else will be leaving them as they move another step closer to completing for that handsome reward here on "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Sexes II."
