"Vertigo" - January 17
It's great to to hear that
Chico "and the man" Alexander is back in the GSNN
virtual office after taking an exciting cruise. But now,
I'm ready to give out another recap of the latest
episode of "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle
of the Sexes II."
We start tonight's episode with the four remaining girls
at a Japanese Bistro where they receive their next clue.
On the phone's screen display it says, "Are you ready
for your next mission? This is the high point for this
season... Wear tennis shows, tanks, shorts, and
sunscreen. Be ready by 8:30 am." Sophia is concerned
about Arissa's abilities in the physical challenges
because of her fear of heights. Eric and Mark made a
pact to bring each other to the finals. They've also
thought about the possibilities of the of the next
mission's outcome and their other teammates Dan and
Theo. The teams go to an aerial setup in Albuquerque,
New Mexico in which their next mission will take place.
The teams are then introduced to the Mayor of New
Mexico, Martin Chavez. Arissa could not believe the next
mission requires the use of heights. The name of the
mission is called "Vertigo," the teams must walk to the
pedestals on the endpoints of the beams and stand upon
them for as long as possible. Once everyone's in the
position, that's when the contest will actually start.
The team who stands on the longest will win a $3,500
shopping spree to Todd Oldham by Lay-Z-Boy for each
member for a total prize package of $14,000.
The teams now have have their final 30-minute
deliberations on who the team leaders should be and they
better choose wisely. The girls elect Coral and Arissa
while the guys elect Mark and Theo. As they prepare for
the mission the guys realize that they want Arissa to
stay in the competition as they've noticed her
performance in the previous missions. The 2-minute prep
period begins, and at that point they must get to the
end of the pedestal before the mission actually begins.
Arissa's fear of heights is shown and she's having
second thoughts. Then Dan lost his balance getting
himself eliminated and then Theo did the same thing. And
just like that the girls win the first heat, that means
the first team to win two heats wins the challenge. The
other two team members ready themselves for heat two,
then Eric and Mark got elminated gving the girls their
third non-consecutive win.
The men now have send either Mark or Dan out of the game
while the women will have to send either Arissa or Tina.
Arissa feels great that she won't be going home. We then
found out later that the men had devised a plan to keep
Arissa in the game. They did that by trowing the mission
they've already took part in. Good thing the girls did
not catch on to that. That totally stacks the deck for
themselves in the final mission. Mark has already been
to the final in the first BotS, but Eric hasn't so Mark
decides to take one for the team in which the team was
cool about. The girls IC have their deliberation on who
should stay and who should go. The teams go to the top
of Elimination Hill for one last time. The girls send
Tina home leaving Sophia to be one of the final three.
In no surprise to us, the viewers, the guys send home
Mark.
And then there were six, the team of Dan, Eric, and Theo
and the team of Arissa, Coral, and Sophia. When the
smoke clears, which of these teams will cash in on
$180,000? You'll have to tune in and see the final
mission next time, here on "The Real World/Road Rules
Challenge: Battle of the Sexes II!" |
