Finals: Choudhury/Cooke/Horn - Part 2
February
22

Last week, fifteen of the best and brightest high-schoolers descended upon the Jeopardy! stage to show the world who's got the best mental game. Nine of them outlasted the rest and earned the right to compete in the semis. Now we come to the climax, as three of them, Zia Choudhury, Rachel Cooke, and Rachel Horn, compete for $75,000 and the title of 2008 Jeopardy! Teen Champion, not to mention the bragging rights that go with the title.

This Winter Classic is another standard two-week affair, advancing the winners of this week's games as well as four wild-cards, high scorers among non-winners. All of this week's players will receive at least $10,000 for making it this far.

The first runner-up receives $25,000 at least, while the second runner-up wins at least $15,000. As always, any and all winnings accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.

And now, the deciding game...

Rachel "Steve" Cooke

Rachel Horn

$18,000 $18,400 $26,801

Jeopardy! round...

BIBLICAL QUOTES ON THE RADIO WHAT'S FOR DESSERT? SOUTH PARK BORN FIRST DOUBLE TALK

Daily Double: $800 Biblical Quotes. Rachel's the only one with money. She bets all $1000 on this: the land of Canaan is described as "flowing with" these 2 items mentioned some 20 times in the Bible. "What are milk and honey?" Correct for $2000!

At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

$2,000 $1,000 $5,800
Zia "Steve" Rachel

Double Jeopardy! categories:

THE 20th CENTURY ARE YOU READY FOR SOME SOCCER? NERDS RULE! NAME THAT BOOK METAL "B" SHARP

Daily Double #1: $2000 the 20th Century. Zia hunts for it and finds it with $10,800 against Rachel's $9800 and "Steve's" $4600. "I'm gonna regret this... True Daily Double." Go big or go home. The clue for double or nothing... in Dec. 1989 this playwright was elected president of Czechoslovakia, the 1st non-Community since 1948. "Who is Chekhov?" And soon he wishes he could take that back. It was Vaclav Havel, leaving him with nothing.

Daily Double #2: $1600 "B" Sharp. "Steve" has $6200 to Rachel's $10,600. She risks $3000 on this: this ethnic group lives in the Pyrenees and speaks Euskera. "Who are... " The Basques. She's left with $3200.

At the end of the Double Jeopardy! Round...

$4,000 $8,400 $9,800
Zia "Steve" Rachel

The best Zia can hope for is a final total of $26,000. The best "Steve" can hope for is a final total of $35,200. The WORST thing that can happen is Rachel bets it all and loses, but Rachel can still wager $1400 or less and still win the whole thing. The tournament is hers to lose.
