They're not old enough to drink, but they're surely old enough to think. Fifteen of the best and brightest high-schoolers have descended upon the Jeopardy! stage to show the world who's got the best mental game. And in the end, one of them will outlast the others for $75,000 and the title of 2008 Jeopardy! Teen Champion, not to mention the bragging rights that go with the title.

This Winter Classic is another standard two-week affair, advancing the winners of this week's games as well as four wild-cards, high scorers among non-winners. All of this week's players will receive $5000, while the semifinalists will be guaranteed $10,000 for their participation.

The first runner-up receives $25,000 at least, while the second runner-up wins at least $15,000. As always, any and all winnings accrued depends on how far up the ladder a player goes.

So far, we have six semifinalists. In 30, we'll have your final nine.

An error from yesterday's recap. will Casper , not Melissa Luttmann, will join  us next week... yet. She's on the cut with $18,400 against Janelle Lambert from Tuesday ($11,200). Jeopardy! round...

HISTORIC FACES DON'T TOY WITH ME "D" IN MATH STATE NICKNAMES AWARDS VWLLSS FLWRS

Daily Double: $600 Awards. Rachel is in a close second with $1600 against Todd's $1800 and Bonnie's $1000. She tries for $1000 on this: in 2007 Doris Lessing became only the 11th woman to win this--Pearl Buck won in 1938. "What is the Pulitzer?" Nope, it was the Nobel Prize for Literature, leaving her with $600.

At the end of the Jeopardy! round...

$2,000 $3,000 $5,800
Bonnie Rachel Todd

Double Jeopardy! categories:

AROUND THE WORLD AT THE MOVIES SPACE RELIGIOUS MATTERS IT'S ELEMENTAL ADD A LETTER

Daily Double #1: $1600 Religious Matters. Rachel is keeping things close with $10,200 against Todd's $11,400. Bonnie at a distant third with $2800. Rachel fronts $1600 on this: one of the few marked graves from this group's trek west is Rebecca Winter's, east of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. "Who are the Mormons?" Correct for $11,800 and the lead!

Daily Double #2: $800 It's Elemental. Todd retakes the lead with $13,400 against Rachel's $11,800 and Bonnie's $2800. He bets $400 on this: this element's symbol, Hg, comes from the Latin word hydrargyrum, meaning "liquid silver". "What is mercury?" Correct for $13,800!

At the end of the Double Jeopardy! Round...

$5,200 $14,600 $19,000
Bonnie Rachel Todd

Final Jeopardy! category: AMERICAN POETRY

WALT WHITMAN CALLED THIS "THE BEAUTIFUL UNCUT HAIR OF GRAVES"

Correct response: what is grass?

Bonnie's response: what is age? WRONG. Wager: $5200. Total: $0
Rachel's response: what is leaves of grass? RIGHT. Wager: $3400. Total: $18,000.
Todd's response: what are lilacs? WRONG. Wager: $6000. Total: $13,000.

SEMI-FINALIST: Rachel Cooke.

Todd and Rachel were playing seesaw the whole way through. Neither player wanted to give up an inch, and that's the way you have to play a tournament game. It all came down to the Final in this case, and Rachel simply knew more about the category. What she didn't know is that if she lost on this, then there would've been only a chance of making next week, given the other two scores.

So who makes next week?
