4 Chefs Compete
Again
December 8
The team finally turned around and
delivered a good performance in the kitchen. Because of that, Ramsay
opted not to send anyone home. BUT that comes with a price, as TWO
people are going home.
CHALLENGE #14: Fusion Cuisine (creativity)
Each chef will create a dish using TWO
cuisines as one.
Nona: Greece/Italy
Jillian: Thailand/Spain
Russell: France/India
Trev: China/Mexico
You have 45 minutes to create one dish.
You'll be judged by Philip Dubose (executive chef, Asia de Cuba), Helene
An (executive chef, Crustacean), and Lee Hefter (executive chef, Spago),
three gods among fusion cuisine.
Trev: Sweet & Sour Carne Asada
Nona: Rustic Seafood Ragu with Greek Pasta
Russell: Curried Duck a l'Orange
Jillian: Shrimp with Chorizo on White Rice
Jillian is the only one to receive praise
from all of the judges, so this is an easy pick. She wins the challenge
and gets a lunch with Ramsay at Spago. The other three are cleaning
house and prepping for dinner TONIGHT.
And by cleaning house, we mean entirely.
It's MOVING day. Meanwhile, at lunch, Jillian is joined by his family.
Now with four chefs remaining, it's time
to deliver the goods. But before that, Trev and Russell are at each
others' throats. Trev can't stand anyone. Russell can't stand Trev...
and Nona and Jillian are dead set in their fervor to be the last two
standing together.
Also, tonight will feature each chef
running the pass for a while. You run the kitchen or the kitchen runs
you. OPEN HELL'S KITCHEN!
DINNER SERVICE #14
We're looking for command, control, and
efficiency. Apps are leaving the kitchen, and it's a good place to put
Russell in charge.
Scott is about to test Russell's QC by
using pecans instead of walnuts in the truffle salad. CAUGHT!
Nona is next up to the pass. The kitchen
is running smoothly, but Scott subs out celery root instead of potatoes
for the mash... STOP.
Ninety minutes in, and it's Trev's turn
at the pass. The chefs do a great enough job of not listening to him.
And while Russell and Nona have done a great job keeping food going,
Trev's done a great job... sucking. No food has left the kitchen, and
Scott's bringing another sabotaged dish, a sea bass for a halibut. Once
that's spotted, Trev is lit under him.
Finally, it's time for Jillian to do the
damn thing. Her assertiveness is paying off. Finally, Scott delivers a
New York strip instead of a ribeye. And Trev... continues to suck. Trev
may wants to screw Jillian.. but Ramsay's having none of it.
With the last two tables up, Ramsay steps
back into the pass to complete the service. Good job, everyone. Now
switch off. Two people are going to stay... and two are going home.
ELIMINATION #14:
Straight away, TREV is sent home.
Russell says that he needs to prove that
he works harder than anyone else. Nona says that she's kind of an
underdog, giving everything she's had. Jillian has done nothing but kick
ass. She's not going to quit fighting.
Advancing to the final... RUSSELL.
Competing against him next week...
will be...
...
.... NONA.
Jillian is going home, but she is keeping
her black jacket as a reminder of the fight that she put in and the
lessons she took out.
"Jillian didn't let her lack of fine
dining experience get in the way. She made it this far because of her
passion and determination. Unfortunately, it just wasn't enough to get
her into the final."
Now for the chefs that are still
standing, the biggest night of their lives is coming shortly. Can you
taste the final?
