14 Chefs Compete
September 22
Last night... Disaster. Tonight... the comeback begins.
But first... a wake-up call... via taiko drums. And Raj's heavy breathing.
CHALLENGE #2: Sushi (attention to detail)
The challenge is to recreate a salmon cucumber
avocado roll and tuna nigiri to the standards of a good friend of Chef Ramsay's,
someone who has just received his first Michelin star, someone who's been on the
pages of GSNN before, an international superstar...
My dear readers... I give you Iron Chef Masaharu
Morimoto!
Each player is given a Miyabi Morimoto sushi
knife. The team that wins the challenge will keep them.
You'll work in teams of 2, with 10 on the clock
to make nine pieces of sushi.
Melissa & Gail: 0
Nona & Jillian: 8
Emily & Sabrina: 7
Louis & Rob: 4
Russell & Raj: 4
Vinny & Boris need 7 to tie, 8 to win outright. They get... 8!
The men are going to San Francisco to taste wine
at Cellar 360, while the ladies will stay in Hell's Kitchen and prepare sushi.
By the way, the winner will also be the
spokesperson Rosemount wines.
Back in Hell, the ladies will dine on... well,
whatever it is, Sabrina brought it back.
The next day, it's time for the comeback.
Everyone has something to prove. Raj... more so than everyone else.
James' first night in Hell was... well, Hell...
So Jillian & Vinny will assist them. OPEN HELL'S KITCHEN!
DINNER SERVICE #2
Jillian delivers the first ticket... and tries
not to be nervous.
Vinny, though... is lost.
And Raj... is completely blanking.
Gail's risotto... PERFECT. Sabrina's sushi is
also perfect. The Red Team is off to a good start. Curtis's sushi... not so much
a good start. His poor execution has resulted in one table being served by the
blue side. Nona's cooking the fish perfectly, but the beef is raw.
Ninety minutes in, and Vinny has an idea... that
James picks up on. James goes to Ramsay and... Vinny gon' git it.
Emily's hoping to bounce back on meat, while
Boris thinks he needs to be the top guy. He'll be the first to get lopped off.
Nearly two hours into service, the men have not served an app. The entrees are
flying out of the Red side, though, except Melissa has a brain fart. She is
asked to swap places with Jill. She solves the issues, and the reds are back in
the groove.
Back on the Blue sushi counter, Curtis is
dragging. Ramsay had enough of that. Curtis... and Raj... are sent to the dorms,
while the rest of the blues... are sent to join them. And it gets drag out.
The Reds, though, finish their first service
together as a team... Good job. Now shut it off and let's see who the men are
going to send to the front of the line.
ELIMINATION #2:
Boris and Trev calls up Raj (for throwing the
team under the bus) and Boris (thinking that he's Superman). Because of his
little stunt, Ramsay wants Vinny on the line as well. Entrees on the menu need
to go with sides. Vinny says that he learned from that mistake. Raj says that
he's being falsely accused. Boris is a team player.
Ramsay sends.... CURTIS home. He completely sunk
the kitchen.
"Curtis might have been a good ol' boy, but
unfortunately, he wasn't good at cooking."
Next time, the remaining 14 are still looking for
a leader.
