"Back to the Present" -
September 6
Two of our remaining contestants, Joey and Andrew don't
know what's in store for them as we draw the conclusion
of MTV's The 70's House.
After the shows opening sequence, Dawn shows up at the
house holding an Olympic-style torch with the
appropriate theme music. The contestants hear from Oscar
that this is ther final day in the house and they're
going to take part in the ultimate test of 70's skills.
It'll be a day-long battle in the 70's decathalon.
The players go to Cosell Park for this special event
with Andrew wearing blue and Joey wearing red. As with a
regular decathalon there are ten events, but there will
be one event for each year from 1970-1979. Let's get
started, shall we?
1970: Joey and Andrew play the said board game where
they knock down blocks of ice until one of them knocks
down the centerpiece. Joey knocks down the centerpiece
first giving Andrew the win for this event.
1971: The players ride their 70's-style bicycles around
the track for five laps. After enduring sitting on thise
banana seats, Joey wins the event, tying up 1-1.
1972: The players then make a cake with the help of
Easy-Bake ovens. Joey didn't follow the directions to
making a EBO cake giving the win to Andrew leading the
decathalon 2-1 over Joey.
1973: The players now have to chase Bigfoot around the
park to get a picture of him. Joey got the best picture
of BF winning this event and tying up the match again at
two each.
1974: Andrew and Joey play the Simon electronic memory
game. Joey messes up the sequence giving Andrew the win
and leading the decathalon 3-2.
1975: Mike Gordy hosts this event involving identifying
which in a group of teams were made in the 70's. The
players lock in their answers by picking up a paddle in
which the number corresponds to the item. The player
with the most correct answers wins this event. Andy got
the most correct answers winning this event. Andy leads
4-2 over Joey and we're getting closer and closer to the
end.
1976: Randy hosts this event where the players have to
make a beer can pyramid while being on a waterbed. Andy
manages to complete his to win this event and he still
holds on to a 5-2 lead over Joey.
1977: Gallagher hosts this event where the players have
to smash watermelons (like in Gallagher's comedy acts)
to find a key to dermine the winner. Joey finds the key
and starts the process of catching up to Andrew and the
score is 5-3.
1978: Don "Magic" Juan hosts this event where the
players have to go on a Z-beam while wearing pimp
outfits. Joey had much better progress than Andrew,
making the score 5-4.
And now the last event...
1979: Both players will take part in a daredevil jump.
They'll be wearing motorcycles around their waist as
they run up the ramp and land on the pad. In the
end...Andrew wins the event, winning the decathlon 6-4
over Joey.
Andrew has walked, talked, and danced his way into being
the most 70's. And for his efforts, he wins an HP prize
package plus a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle and a European
vacation from STA Travel.
Back at the house for the very final time, Andrew and
Joey are greeted by their friends, and the groovy cast.
They also get a surprising and quick visit from Oscar
who's riding in a limo, but we never got to see his
face. I smell something related to "Charlie's Angels"
with this. Then we end the show with Andrew going back
to the present year with his new VW Beetle and his
prizes.
IMO, MTV's The 70's House offered me a unique experience
when it comes to saying and doing things in another
decade according to the show's rules. Well that's the
last recap on MTV's The 70's House. If there's another
season on the way, I would probably do more recaps. I
hope you've had a very groovy time in the 70's House as
much as I have. So...let's hope that things in your life
are groovy! And remember everyone...keep it 70's! Bye
y'all! |
