2.18: Celebrity Show 5
January 17
It's another celebrity show
as a beauty queen is put to the test to see if she can reign supreme in
our class.
There she is, the current Miss America LAUREN NELSON, a 20-year-old who
attended Pioneer Park Elementary in Lawton, OK. Tonight, she's playing
for the Miss America Organization for scholarship money.
Some call it repaying student loans, I don't know.
First up to help Lauren tonight is Mackenzie. After Lauren teaches her
how to do "the wave", we get into it with...

TRUE OR FALSE? All
ladybugs are female. |
Fun fact: Lauren
has a 3.8 GPA at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Lauren's smart. She PEEKS at Mac's paper... "FALSE". She
goes with that. She's right for $2000. Ladybugs can be both
male and female.
Next up to help is Cody.

c) Evening |
She breaks it
down to "homophone" meaning "same sound". She goes with A...
Right on for $10,000.
Next up is the milestone question for $25,000. Here to help
her out is Olivia. Now, here's a little trivia. Whenever
Lauren isn't wearing a crown, she has to wear the Miss
America pin. She brought both, one on her head and the other
for luck. Olivia gets to wear the pin for this round. Don't
know how that'll gel with the Miss America suits, but...
whatever.

TRUE OR FALSE? By
definition, cartographers are people are people that
study the heart. |
Lauren takes the
freeball with false. She's right. Cartographers make maps;
cardiologists study the heart.

More than 99% of
the mass of our solar system is contained within what
heavenly body? |
Lauren has no
clue. She decides to go with "the universe". That's a
lock-in. That's... wrong. The only way she can continue on
is if Sierra said... "the sun". And Nathan (aka Mini-Gordon)
had it.
Sierra said... the sun! SAVED!
The good news, we're up to $100,000. The bad news, Lauren is
out of help. It's just her to the million.
During the break, Jeff gets pinned from Olivia, while
Lauren's mom quizzed her over the phone before the game.

What Revolutionary
leader famously uttered the words, "Give me liberty or
give me death!" in a speech at the second Virginia
Convention? |
Does Lauren
remember any famous speeches? No. Does she remember the
quote? Sorta. She doesn't think Alexander Hamilton is right.
And it's way too much to risk, so Miss America 2007 Lauren
Nelson... drops out. But she does so with $175,000 for the
Miss America Organization.
Lauren would've been wrong with Alexander Hamilton. It was
Patrick Henry.
We continue on with a new player, a 37-year-old payroll
manager from 99th Street Elementary, ESTHER JACKSON! Her
nickname is Little Esther (her mom's also named Esther), but
there's nothing little about her, as she's 6'2" barefoot.
The quiz begins anew with Mackenzie in the helper's chair.

who's going into the 5th grade. She's playing for $5000 on a
2nd grade spelling question... NEXT TIME. |
