Episode 2.15: Flunkytown
December 6

Last time, Tyler Van Buren flunked out with $25,000, while Ashley McCohn flunked out with nothing ONLY to be invited to play "Don't Forget the Lyrics" that night. Tonight, three of the show's most notorious flunkouts return for one more shot at classroom glory.

BUT first, we have a bit of business to take care of. Olivia's absent (C-Note: I expect a note, missy), so we have a new student... Say hey to Chandler.

First, the show's first flunkout, a tech support rep from Dayton, OH... PAT GERMANO! he did catch a lot of grief about going out on the first question ("What is the lowest layer of the earth's atmosphere?"). Let's go back to season one for that.

And now, time for redemption. First up to help with redemption... Wheelie-man Cody... who totally left Pat hanging.

4th Grade Math $1,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What is the median of the following numbers?
2, 2, 5, 9, 12, 17

Cody is in. Pat goes with... 2. It's not 2. It's 7. Nathan knew it. "The middle of all the numbers. If you have six numbers, you average the two in the middle."  Does Cody have 7? No. He has 9. And Pat goes out on the first question, not once.... but TWICE.

Next up, LEVI LINE, who left the class on a 4th Grade World Geography question. he thought Mount Kilimanjaro was in Asia. It's in Africa. We're all feeling good about this...

We start the second chance for Levi with Mackenzie.

1st Grade Animal Science $1,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
A doe is the female of which of the following animals?
a) Dog
b) Deer
c) Horse

Mackenzie is locked. Levi goes with doe, a deer, a female deer. He's got $1000, and we're up and away.

Sierra: "Bonus: Ray is a drop of golden sun."

Let's turn it into $2000...

1st Grade Earth Science $2,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
TRUE OR FALSE? Lightning is a form of precipitation.

Levi thinks that lightning is static electricity... He puts his trust in the save, and after the break, he goes with FALSE... Mackenzie can't save him. She doesn't need to, he's right!

Round 2 begins with Mini-Gordon, Nathan.

2nd Grade World Geography $5,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What is the capital of Spain?

If you remember, Levi flunked out on this category. Nathan is in. Levi is sure it is Madrid. It IS Madrid for $5000.

2nd Grade Nature $10,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
TRUE OR FALSE: Almonds grow on trees.

Nathan was quick here. Levi takes his time, because he missed the $10,000 last time. Will he play strategy on this 50/50 question? Yep. He PEEKS at Nate's answer. Levi would've said TRUE. Nathan says true. Levi goes with it. Good move. He's up $10,000.

Milestone question coming up, and here to help is Sierra.

5th Grade US History $25,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
Who was the first Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court?

Deviating from strategy. Levi says he's feeling pretty good. Levi goes with John Marshall. The crowd seems to like that answer. Sierra: "I should've brought my horseshoe today." The class... is all over the place. Levi... is only half right. It was John Jay. Sierra needs to have John Jay written. She has... Benjamin Franklin. Levi deviates from strategy and it bites him.

Try this one more time with a rocket scientist from New Jersey, KARL SCHAUB. Karl changed jobs after leaving the classroom on this question: the US state of Indiana borders which Great Lake? Correct: Michigan.

But perhaps he can pull out at least the $25,000. Starting the test again with Nathan.

1st Grade Astronomy $1,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What is the only planet in our solar system that man has walked on?

Nathan is locked. This one's easy. It's Earth for $1000.

1st Grade Life Science $2,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
The food known as pork comes from what animal?

Nathan's quick again. So is Karl. It's a pig for $2000.

So up to help him now that he's past his best is Mackenzie.

2nd Grade Animal Science $5,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
CLASSROOM CLUB QUESTION from Jacqueline from Hewitt School
What species of land animal is the closest surviving relative of the extinct woolly mammoth?

First up, business. Jacqueline just got her class a new computer courtesy of Fox and "AYSTA5G". Now to Karl. He's confident that it's an elephant. We're confident he's right.

2nd Grade US Geography $10,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
Which of the following US states extends the farthest east?
a) Indiana
b) Mississippi
c) Kentucky

This is the category that tripped him up last time. He can rule out A. He's confident that it's Kentucky. He locks it in... and he's right for $10,000! Sierra: "They have good fried chicken."

Next question is the milestone. No one has gotten it tonight. Will the newbie be the first to help him? Here comes Chandler.

3rd Grade World Geography $25,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
What body of water in the Middle East is located at approximately 1300 feet below sea level?

Chandler is locked in. He has friends that have floated at the Dead Sea. He goes with it... Nathan had "Dead Sea (which is 40% salt)". You have $25,000! "Sometimes repeating the 5th grade can be profitable."

Now let's double it.

3rd Grade Social Studies $50,000 PEEK COPY SAVE
TRUE OR FALSE: The Washington Monument in Washington, DC is over 1000 feet tall.

Karl takes the freeball on FALSE. "About 525 feet." It's actually 555 feet. He's right for $50,000.

Next up to assist is Sierra. The 4th Grade Science question will be revealed... next time.
