5 Chefs Compete Part
3
July 11
The Final Five took on a team of HK
All-Stars, leading into the best Dinner Service in the show's 11-season
history. Not perfect, but also not bad. The team stays as it is because
of it, but from here on out... NO MORE SECOND CHANCES.
SKILL DRILL
#14: Burgers (Creativity)
Sophisticated... inspirational... and now
finding its way onto menus at five-star eateries nationwide.
Behold... the humble American hamburger.
Ramsay himself sells this monstrosity at one of his London restaurants,
Bread Street Kitchen, for $100 a pop.
Now you're going to create your own
burger. It doesn't have to cost $100, but it does have to be a gourmet
creation.
Helping Ramsay judge, someone he's worked
with for 14 years... Old Slickback himself, JP. He's also brought a few
of HIS friends, wait staffs and culinary professionals from all across
the country.
Each chef will create 10 burgers for the
room to taste. Best burger wins. You have 30 minutes to cook your
creations. ORDER UP!
Mary: Short Rib Burger
Cyndi: Wagyu Beef Burger
Susan: "Healthy" Burger with "a Greek Yogurt with feta and dill spread".
In other words... Pretentious crap.
Jon: Roman Burger inspired by Caesar salad
Ja'Nel: Salmon Burger
In last place... Susan. The winner... and
boy was it... with 40% of the vote... JON! He's going to the spa for a
day... and he's sharing the reward with Cyndi.
Meanwhile, the ladies are going to be
bored out of their wits doing JP's job for the day... while he and his
friends enjoy the day off. And he left a laundry list (of laundry) to
get started on. Ja'Nel likes to take charge on whatever she does. Mary
and Susan (C-Note: did I just land in an episode of Johnny Test?) ...
not so much.
After a punishing punishment, it's time
to start prepping. Jon & Cyndi return from their reward and assist. For
the first time, it's five people in one kitchen serving the entire
dining room.
"JP... Open Hell's Kitchen,
please!"
DINNER SERVICE
#16
In the building tonight... Alex Tagliani
from the IndyCar series, Challen Cates from "Big Time Rush", and Ashley
Fink from "Glee" (coming up next over most of these Fox stations).
The kitchen is off to a strong start, but
someone has a small problem. Antonio Sabato Jr. and his friend have
arrived... AND have no place to sit. That's what a chef's table is for!
Certainly THIS wasn't planned. Their food is served without an issue.
... which CAN'T BE SAID for the next batch of risotto. Dis. Gusting. Try
again, Ja'nel. Meanwhile, the dining room is getting antsy. Ja'Nel
recovers nicely and the team gets the rest of the apps out. Until Mary
delivers a slider with NO meat in it. Ramsay tells her to calm down.
Actually, he says, "You're getting your knickers in a twist... Calm
down." Mary's talking head afterwards? "I wear knickers on a regular
basis. You never go commando in the kitchen, it's dangerous."

Mary then delivers a burger with dry
meat. Next try... BETTER. And that'll do it for apps, now let's take on
the entrees. Mary's working fish tonight, Susan on garnish. Eventually.
While Mary is cooking her fish, Susan is burning her garnish. The
fish... burned on one side. Susan and Mary finish their entrees with a
bumpy ride... including the Chef's Table. Meanwhile, Susan is calling
for an entree... for a table that hasn't had their appetizers yet.
Susan? She swears she fired the tickets, which prompts Ramsay to do
something he's never done before... pass the kitchen to Susan while he
takes Andi to the back... to disappear... or something.
The chefs finally get their crap together
and dinner resumes as normal... as can be expected. And Ramsay's back.
Cue the dramatic music.
... and we're down to the final table.
Ramsay finally sees the team coming together. Too late too soon, though.
After they finish up the service, they have to come up with two people
to send to the firing line.
Susan wants to send Mary for being
overwhelmed. Cyndi agrees due to the fish. Ja'Nel should know what
risotto should taste like. She can't accept that she has weaknesses.
Ja'Nel counters that Susan is a worse chef than she is.
ELIMINATION
#14
Susan nominates Mary (panicking) and... a split between Ja'Nel and
herself.
Susan says that she has tenacity,
passion, and drive. Mary says she bounced back and didn't stop fighting.
Ja'Nel, on the back of her worst performance, says that she's a leader
on the team.
Mary... BACK IN LINE.
Order to go for.... SUSAN. But don't
stop, because Ramsay may have a job for her down the road.
"Susan had little experience, but she
came a long way. She's not ready to lead my kitchen in Vegas, but I'm
happy to say that she'll be leaving Hell's Kitchen as a real chef."
Next time... four chefs, but there's only
room for TWO in the final.
