Week 7: In
a Daisy Haze
April 20
This is the part in our season in which
everything & anything they learned so far this season gets harder.
Every routine is random and all couples must survive for the finals.
Later on, the big group dance to the 1960's. We shall begin
immediately.
Up first in this routine round, Melissa & Tony doing an Argentina
tango. Melissa took a flying leap and another one. She even did a few
ballerina turns and doing an amazing display. On to the judges. Carrie
Ann said it was the best argentine tango this season, Len said it was
absolutely beautiful and Bruno said her legs were like magic tools.
Let's fix the scoreboard!
CARRIE: 10
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 10
Total Score: 29
Now that's how you start a show off right.
Next up, Lawrence & Edyta doing a waltz to "Open Arms" by Journey. LT
tries to wake Edyta up....and she does. Edyta did a leg hold spin and
LT took a portion of her dress off and she did a circle kick. Can we
get to the judges, please? Carrie Ann said there was character &
tenderness, Len said it went a bit haywire, and Bruno said it reminded
it of a scene from "Dr. Zhivago." Operate the scoreboard!
CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
Third up, Lil' Kim & Derek doing a rumba to "Lost Without U" by Robin
Thicke. It was so pretty sweet and not at all sour with a 26 for 2nd
place.
Next will be Chuck & Julianne doing a samba. It lit the ballroom up on
fire. On to the judges. Len said he liked it, Bruno said he was workin'
that butt and Carrie Ann got a hi-5 from him. To your scores, please:
CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 27
And they snatch up 2nd place!
We go next door to Ty & Chelsie doing a waltz to "Strawberry Wine" by
Deana Carter. Chelsie pretends to be riding a bike and there was a
little camera problem in the middle of it. Despite all this,
everything else was great. On to the judges. Carrie Ann said his
posture was beautiful, Len said it had a good hold and Bruno said it's
a bigger comeback than Mickey Rourke. Let's go to the totals:
CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 24
And they end up in 3rd place.
Going ahead is Shawn & Mark doing a cha-cha to "PYT" by Michael
Jackson. Mark threw his hat away and did some fancy footwork. After
paying homage to MJ, Shawn ended it with a split. Now we split to the
judges. Carrie Ann said she loved it, Len said it did it exactly and
Bruno said it was technically flawless. Can this be a flawless
victory? Let's find out.
CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 10
Total Score: 28
Not quite, but they take 2nd place.
To put the routine round to bed, Gilles & Cheryl doing a waltz to "I
Go To Sleep" by The Pretenders. One highlight you might see is Cheryl
doing a split, and they split the check with 27 points.
Let's give a score check before the group dance. In 1st, Melissa with
29, 2nd, Shawn with 28 and tie for 3rd between Gilles & Chuck with 27.
Lil' Kim has 26, Ty with 24, and LT in last 21. Now we go back to a
time when there was no internet. I'm talking about the baby boomer
generation of the 60's.
Doesn't this make you feel nostalgic? I do. Girls in go-go boots and
guys...you get the picture. It had more outrageous moves, flips and tricks
than any controller in a video game. There was even a weird move you
might see for yourself. Boy, I wish we had an 80's group dance, but
that may be for next season. We hope you enjoyed this trip to our
ballroom. Come back tomorrow when one team checks out. Hope you've had
fun, bye!
