Week 3:
Somewhere Jaywalking Was Supposed to Be Fun
March 23
She may have gotten the beat, but Belinda
Carlisle got a beatdown by the public. It's time we get it over with.
Tonight, a samba or a foxtrot could give the scoreboard a beating all
night long. Let's get this fight started!
Up first, Denise & Maks doing a samba to "Take a Picture" by Filter.
Make did a few hops on one foot and Denise did a circle kick. Denise
wasn't co-operating, but did the judges agree? Let's find out. Carrie
Ann said it was lacking emotions, Len said it needs a bit more of a
Latin kick....really....and Bruno said it was more of a waffle. Just a
17 and she should've had Eggos and Pop Tarts that morning.
Next up, Chuck & Julianne doing "All I Want to Do" by Sugarland in
foxtrot style. Both got up from their nap and everything happened. By
the end, they lied on their backs, but they're standing up with the
judges right now. Carrie Ann said he could be a contender, Len said
his knees were far too flexed and Bruno said he's glad to see him on
the driver's seat. That drove him to a 23 for the night.
Third up to dance is Holly & Dmitry doing a samba to "Belly Dancer" by
Akon. Holly did a split and did a go-through. On to the judges. Carrie
Ann said she was dis-jointed....I don't know what that is, but I do
know it, Len said it was like a match and Bruno said it was so much on
display on the top shelf, but they ended up in the bottom part, Tying
Denise for 2nd with 17.
Moving along now, we have Steve-O & Lacey doing a foxtrot to "I'm
Yours" by Jason Mraz. Steve got up from the front row to dance with
Lacey and she did a high leg turn. They both ran to the stairs at the
end, but we run to the judges. Carrie Ann said he's impressed her, Len
said he was so happy at the beginning and Bruno said it started well
and then it fell into pieces. But they have a 15 for last place.
Ready to go, Lawrence & Edyta doing a samba to "I Can't Get Next to
You" by The Temptations. There was supposed to be a can opener move,
but Edyta changed into a quick split. Nice. Carrie Ann said he needs a
little more difficulty, Len said he needs a little more rhythm and
Bruno said he has rhythm. His critique gave them a 20 for 2nd place.
Hang on, we got more dancing to see, and Shawn & Mark will foxtrot
next to "More Than This" by Roxy Music. I think Shawn did pretty well
with this ballroom dance, but did the judges agree with me? Carrie Ann
said it was more than just a lady, Len said it had great movement,
Bruno said it was gliding around with quality. Can we get a score
check?
CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 27
And they're now in the lead!
We got Gilles & Cheryl up next doing a samba. With their red suits,
they sent the ballroom world on fire. Now, let's cool off with the
judges. Carrie Ann said Cheryl was workin' it for him, Len said it
lacked a little bit of rhythm and Bruno said it came out like a
throbbin' red hot poker. All-in, scoreboard....
CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 27
It's a tie at the top!
Next, David & Kym doing a foxtrot to "Come Rain or Come Shine." His
improvement of dancing came on this night, but with 3 8's, what do you
get? A judges score of 24, of course.
Joining In this party, we have Steve & Karina doing a samba to "Jump
In the Line" by Harry Belafonte. Both did arm work, but Karina did a
split and a slide through. Steve did some knee slides and weird
breakdancing. Karina did end it with a cartwheel. And now, boys &
girls, we give you the 2nd lowest score in the history of the
program...............get ready for this........a 10. That's right, a
dime, 5 times 2, a baseball team with a manager, 2 basketball teams,
you name it, a 10....alright, moving on.....
Melissa & Tony are up to foxtrot to "Recipe for Love." Melissa did a
quick kick and even more kicks. Even one more was on the way. Now we
kick start it in gear with the judges. Carrie Ann said she was
wonderful, Len said it got great musicality, and Bruno said it was
beautiful to look at. We get 3 9's and a beautiful score of 27.
Lil' Kim & Derek would be next....in fact they are as they samba. They
were in yellow and they were in control the whole way. On to the
judges. Carrie Ann said it was hot, Len said she's got a bionic booty
and Bruno said she's a pocket-sized Venus with a super sized sex
appeal.......yeah.....now, the scores.
CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 25
They take 2nd on that routine.
And finally, Ty & Chelsie doing a foxtrot. Ty did a hat toss and did
everything else with his partner. With that, they get a 23 for the
night.
We get one last check of the scores. 27s all around go to Melissa,
Shawn & Gilles, Lil' Kim gets 25, David has 24, Chuck has 23, same
goes with Ty, Lawrence gets a 20, Holly has a 17, Denise has 16,
Steve-o has 15 and the tinfoil would go again to Steve W. with 10.
Remember what the season is, because tomorrow, a dance-off will
commence with 1 couple getting the ax. Remember the season for one
reason: Win or just go home.
