Battle
Rounds #2 The Battles did not fail to disappoint out of the gate, with voice going against voice, each one making their claim for a spot in the Knockout Rounds. Peppered with a Steal here and there, you have the ingredients for a heated competition. ... And we're just getting started.
As a reminder, each coach is allowed to steal an artist that has lost a battle. If more than one coach steals, then the power shifts to the artist. Shakira has already used BOTH of her Steals. Blake has used one. We continue on with... #TEAMADAM: Michael Austin vs. Warren Stone California's Michael takes on South Carolina's Warren for country supremacy. It's the sheriff vs. the firefighter. The opening round is... "My Kinda Party" by Jason Aldean. It's a country joint that everyone can appreciate. Michael has a bit of a disadvantage in that he has had a reconstruction on his nose and hard palate, which requires that he relearn how to sing. Will that hinder him? Blake compares this to a rasslin' match, where Warren is smooth and Michael is rough. Usher thought the battle was heroically confident and leading strongly to the ladies. Shakira is drawn. ADAM CHOOSES: Warren Michael still has one last chance to stay in the game... and the coaches do NOT take him up on it. #TEAMUSHER: Jeff Lewis vs. Josiah Hawley Seemed like Macklemore wrote "Jimmy Iovine" for Jeff, who was dropped from Interscope. Josiah sung Adam's "Sunday Morning" and picked Usher instead. They're both very confident and connected. Can they remain that way with "Roxanne" by The Police? Josiah's comfortable with it. Jeff... is not at all familiar with it, in that he's more of a soundalike... and he's laughing about it. But how does the battle go over one mic? Shakira thought the song was difficult, and she wasn't impressed. Adam thought it felt flat. Blake didn't think it was too bad. USHER CHOOSES: Josiah Remember, Jeff was laughing all the way... well, the joke is on him. He's done. Time for some fast forward action. - Grace Askew vs. Trevor Davis. Song: "Me
and Bobby McGee". Winner: GRACE #TEAMBLAKE: Caroline Glaser vs. Danielle Bradbery Caroline's the indie rocker from Missouri. Danielle's the teenage country girl from Texas. Both have voices beyond their years. But the challenge will be in the song, which is a bit outside of BOTH realms. It's Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On". Both bring a distinct flavor to the party, but who'll leave with their just dessert? Shakira thought it was as refreshing as tangerine ice cream. Adam calls himself an idiot (again) for not choosing Caroline. Oh Blake... you're screwed either way, aren't you? BLAKE CHOOSES: Danielle Let's see if Adam acts on his impulses... He does... and so does Usher. She's still in it, but who is going to benefit? That would be... ADAM! And all is right with the ... competition. For now at least. And after night 2 of the battles...
