Don't You Work for Me? (Ometepe)
March 9
CLICK
HERE TO READ THE HAPPENINGS AT ZAPATERA
The Ometepes won their first
challenge, sending the Zapateras to their first Tribal Council. Russell,
having yet to find the hidden Idol and having yet to solidify his
alliance, goes in defenseless and is voted out, the first time in
Survivor history that has ever happened. Now we're down to 17...
NIGHT 8: WELL THAT WAS
UNEXPECTED...
Russell arrives at
Redemption Island, much to Matt's surprise. Russell realzies that his
tribe threw the challenge. And he was understandably pissed off. Now
he's up against Matt. "He's going to be nervous as hell going up in a
challenge against me." We'll see, Russell.
DAY 9: PHILLIP'S DOING STUFF
AGAIN...
Phillip begins the day by
sweeping... much to the rest of the tribe's dismay. In his pink tighty-whiteys...
with his junk hanging out. After that, he goes hunting for something.
But he is prepared to do what he needs to do to win a million.
DAY 10: TREE MAIL
Again, it's time to choose who'll witness the duel.
You can draw stones or you can "Rochambeau"
Or discuss it, like civilized folks...
But do it quickly; remembering only TWO can go.

Phillip and Kristina decide
to go. Phillip, because he would like to see what it's all about to give
himself an advantage, and Kristina... just because she'd like to.
DUEL 2:
RUSSELL VS. MATT
For the Duel, both men must
stack up small bricks on a long platform that goes up and down and up
and down. There are a finite number of bricks and they all have angled
bottoms to balance easier on the platform. The object to set the blocks
in such a way that, when knocked down from the beginning, they fall like
dominoes to a ball at the end, knocking the ball loose to roll down and
destroy a tile. First to do that stays at Redemption Island. The
other...gone for good. Oh, and watch the tripwires along the way;
tripping on one of them could rock the platform and knock the tiles down
prematurely, forcing you to start all over again.
It's neck and neck all the
way, as Matt takes a slight advantage... Matt is going to give it a
go... ... SHORT! He'll have to restack half of his line. Russell thinks
HE has it... and he's short. It's a race now... One more time for
Matt... And THAT'S GAME! MATT wins, and Russell Hantz, the man no one
could off... is off Survivor FOR GOOD.
And Russell is left to tears
for the first time in this game. He says he respects the game too much
to go out this way as he is made to burn his buff in the fire on the way
out. As for the witnesses, it is completely up to them what they share.
And Russell thinks that
Ralph has the idol. Phillip knows he has it. Ralph... begs to differ. Oh
well. Them's the breaks.
DAY 10: SHALL WE PLAY A GAME?
While Phillip and Kristina
are watching Russell be humbled, Rob decides to get the tribe out of
camp by planning a beach day. And while the girls lie down... and Grant
takes a swim... Rob takes a look for the Idol. It's somewhere on the
island.. in a tree.. under a rock... in the sand... or in a log. In
other words, it's outside. The rest of the tribe comes back from the
beach. And not a moment too soon, because guess what Rob found... What
will he do? Make it 39 days to the win. He HOPES.
Phillip and Kristina return
from Redemption Island with the plan to tell them about the breakdown
Russell had... and no more. Kristina thinks that Phillip is full of it
with his plans, and she's going to let him have his way for now...
because he's a windbag.
Phillip tells Rob all of
what Russell said, while he lobbies for Kristina. "Big mistake,
Phillip." Rob and Grant think that Phillip can't be trusted for long.
DAY 11...
Teamwork and ruggedness
Are the solutions to win.
Creativity and performance
Are good places to begin.
Sending a tribe mate away
Is never in your plan
What you'll need today is
Trust in your hands.

R/I-CHALLENGE: TOOL AND DIE (for
a barbecue set with meat, veggies, bread, etc)
Everyone got a crate of
Craftsman tools from Sears ($PLUG$) to keep. But can you use them? Run a
balance beam, use a crowbar to open a crate. Use the shovel inside to
dig up a hatchet. Use the axe to release two saws. Use the saws to saw
planks. Use the planks to create a ramp to the winners platform.
Sitting out for Zapatera:
KRISTA.
Winners.... ZAPATERA! Rob
loses the lead for the tribe, and Phillip and Grant don't really help
much.
BACK AT CAMP... Malice
toward Phillip, who does the rallying of the troops thing. And yet... no
one can stand him. Everyone's on the same page hoping that Phillip's
going home. Kristina is on the wrong side of the numbers, though. If she
had the idol in the pocket, it would make her feel a lot better.
... but yet she isn't
looking frantically for the Idol, leading Natalie and the others to
believe that she may have the Idol in her possession. We all know that's
not the case, but Rob decides that that is reason enough for her to
flash on the radar. Phillip is not the threat to this tribe... Kristina
is. Rob wants to think Kristina has the Idol, so the alliance opts to
split the vote with Kristina getting the lion's share. And if the votes
hold, then she's going home.
... but then there's Phillip
being the ticking time bomb. Grant doesn't trust him, and neither does
Rob, but at the end of the day, who knows how to play the game better?
The girls are obsessed with getting rid of Phillip, so Rob has to stem
the tide against flipping. If that doesn't happen... "Well I'm not in
control of my tribe after all."
NIGHT 11: TRIBAL COUNCIL
Kristina thinks that she
started out on the wrong side of the numbers, but she's determined.
Natalie thinks second chances are great. Grant thinks that people can
change in the game. "But to be fair..." Rob says, "I don't think that
she's ever been a part of us." Kristina thinks that the tribe should
vote out the weakest link (ahem, Phillip). He thinks that he's more of a
doer. If you're not about pulling your share, then that's disruptive to
Phillip. So throwing it back at Kristina. We know who Y'ALL are voting
for. He then demonstrates the "Sheppard Stamp"... doing the best you can
with what you have where you are. Kristina's last shot at it... "I'm
smart and I can be trusted, and I want to prove that to this tribe."
Time to vote.
Phillip: CRISTINA (sic) -
"Time has run out."
Kristina: PHIL - "You're a
pain in the neck, and I hope it's you and not me."
The rest of the votes...
Andrea: KRISTINA
Ashley: KRISTINA
Grant: PHILLIP
Rob: PHILLIP
And the final vote... by a
count of 4 to 3...
Natalie: KRISTINA
... KRISTINA, you are headed
to Redemption Island, but for now... THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN. And time is
starting to run out for the tribe.
