HERE TO READ THE HAPPENINGS AT ZAPATERA
Last season, 20 Americans
ventured to Nicaragua to play a game... a game of creation, adaptation,
and ultimately survival. Today, 16 ordinary Americans, armed only with
their wits and the shirts on their backs, will follow in their footsteps
for the adventure of a lifetime. But if they think that they have the
game figured out, then think again, because on season 22... your past
MAY COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU!
The castaways... (C-Note:
Which reads like the cast of "Survivor: SoCal")

DAY 1: OH, THERE'S ONE MORE THING...
The castaways meet for the
first time as Jeff dons his host hat. You know what that means. It's
GAME TIME. And as you know, Survivor is a game with many twists and
turns. The first of which... is arriving right now.
- Boston Rob Mariano (35,
Pensacola, FL): the puppetmaster of Marquesas
- Russell Hantz (38, Dayton, TX): the scavenger of Samoa
Rob can help a tribe out in
camp life, but do not take him at his word. Russell, on the other hand,
is the strongest, smartest player to NEVER win the game. Together,
they've lasted 156 days in the game. After the draw, Rob will captain
the Ometepe, while Russell will join the Zapatera.
Then Jeff drops the second
twist of the game: Redemption Island (or, as the Spaniards call it,
"Tierra de los Muertos"). When you are voted off, you will be sent to
Redemption Island to live ALONE, fending for yourself as the tribe
you've left behind has. When the next person joins you on Redemption
Island, you will duel to see who stays there. Win the duel, stay at
camp. Lose, you are going home for good. At a designated point in the
game's timeline, the tribesman on Redemption Island will be called to
RETURN to the game.
That... doesn't scare
Russell one bit.
Good luck, players... TO
YOUR CAMPS!
And speaking of camp, the
tribe begins to work on their new home... as it starts to rain. The
tribe LOVES to have Rob around, as he's bringing a lot of center to the
tribe, a lot of harmony. Phillip takes the lead in the building of
shelter... and Rob just lets him, figuring that he'll let the tribe just
implode if he gets further in the game. Already he's being judged the
most annoying person in camp by Francesca. And Krista.
Phillip tells the camp that
he is a former federal agent. Really? Honestly? OH, and he loves women,
having seven sisters himself. "Who. Cares?" Thanks, Francesca for that.
Kristina starts to think
about the chances that perhaps there is a hidden Immunity Idol among the
various sundries given by the Survivor production crew. Rob... is onto
her. Heh. He's later doing the same thing. Meanwhile, Rob talks to
Phillip: "Five girls. Four gives." Wink wink, nod nod, nudge nudge, say
no more. Phillip sees it as a move designed to size everyone up. Phillip
decides to play along, saying that he'll stick to the girls and that he
has more integrity than that. Kristina is on board with that plan.
DAY 3: HOME SWEET (?) HOME
Kristina knows that Rob is
dangerous now... and that he becomes even more dangerous the longer he
is in the game. Never mind that he's a great guy and all. She's going to
focus on him once she finds the idol. With shovel in hand, she goes on
an amazing quest... Anything that stood out in camp she went for...
until... WOW. Check that out. Immunity Idol. What are the odds? Kristina
enters into a pact with Phillip and Francesca to get rid of Rob...
TONIGHT.
That implodes into the
shortest-lived alliance in Survivor history, as Phillip ferrets his two
tribemates for information. We'll have to talk about this later.
R/I-CHALLENGE:
PAIN IN THE TEMPLES (for fire)
On a temple at Challenge
Island, the tribes will push four blocks to create a set of steps to a
temple. At the second level, one tribesman will hatchet through twine to
release a second set of steps. The tribe will come together one more
time to create a final set of steps out of a block puzzle. The first
tribe to do so will win flint for fire and.... THE ALMIGHTY IMMUNITY
IDOL. Your best friend for the next couple of weeks.
Winners.... ZAPATERA. So for
the first time in GSNN history, I'M going to cover the first Tribal
Council of the series. Yay me.
Back at camp, Kristina and
Francesca talk immunity idol and hatch a plan to backdoor Rob using the
Tighty-Pinkies Alliance. Good plan, but at the same time, the tribe
still needs Rob. Right now, Francesca thinks that Natalie's the weakest
link goodbye. Even so, it's still three votes against the tribal six.
Speaking of, Rob doesn't
know who to set up for a fall just yet. He does want Francesca around
because she knows how he operates. "I don't want someone like that on my
tribe. The second we landed on the beach, Kristina was the one looking
through all the supplies for the idol. She's dangerous. She knows
strategy." Rob rallies the troops, playing on suspicion that Kristina
may control the Idol.
Phillip still wants to know
who the other votes are... The other votes are irrelevant as she has the
idol and can play it tonight. Kristina and Phillip decide that with his
brains and her power, they could go all the way.
But to go all the way, you
have to survive...
NIGHT 3: TRIBAL COUNCIL
That first night, a pretty
damn good shelter. Phillip says that if he sees something that needs to
be done, he'll suggest it. Matt says that "suggest" is more like
"calling you out on it." It's not well received on the first day.
Francesca says that the tribe needs to be as strong as possible, but
we'll see what happens. Kristina doesn't feel at all safe (yeah, she
does). Rob says that there's nothing he can do if he's out tonight.
Redemption Island adds a level of complexity and... wait, Phillip wants
to say something...
"I have an issue with that
statement that (Francesca) made, because she and Kristina asked me to
cast a vote for Rob."
HELLO.
"I'm a former special
agent." We know, Phillip. Wait, he's not done yet...
"No, you and Francesca
approached me to go along with them because SHE has an Immunity Idol."
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohjesus. Now it's all out
there. Damage control, Rob wasn't going to be voted out and Phillip is
unstable. Rob says that Phillip is adamant and Kristina hasn't defended
anything... and now he's dealing for the Idol. In front of Jeff.
TIME TO VOTE!
Boston Rob: FRANCESCA - "Man
it feels so good to play with you amateurs. You give away so much. You
don't even know enough to keep your mouth shut. Thanks for the
memories."
Natalie: KRISTINA - "You might make it through this Tribal Council, but
probably not the next one."
Francesca: PHILLIP - "I hadn't planned on voting for you tonight... or
Boston Rob... but your crazy outburst has spared Natalie. I hope to
never see you again."
One all.
Andrea: KRISTINA
Grant: FRANCESCA
Kristina: PHILLIP
Ashley: KRISTINA
Matt: FRANCESCA
Final and deciding vote...
Phillip: FRANCESCA
By a vote of 4-3-2, we have
our first resident of Redemption Island. You will fight to stay alive in
three days, but for now... FRANCESCA... THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN. And
apparently so has Phillip.
"I'm a former special
agent." WE KNOW, PHILLIP.
