Team GRITS/Spectrum Surfers
July 23

Tonight... one team will face 10 games, each 60 seconds in length. Playing with household items could win you $250,000. But first, you have to beat the clock. And EVERY. SECOND. COUNTS. Tonight's team has the dream, but do they have the drive to go all the way?

Jessica (28) & Traci (34) are sisters from the South, looking to bring a taste of New Orleans to the 60 Second Circle. They have the spice, but do they have the skills to win enough money to take their family to France?

As a reminder of what's at stake...

LEVEL 1: $1000
LEVEL 2: $2000
LEVEL 3: $3000
LEVEL 4: $5000
LEVEL 5: $10,000
LEVEL 6: $15,000
LEVEL 7: $25,000
LEVEL 8: $50,000
LEVEL 9: $100,000
LEVEL 10: $250,000

Once you pass the $1000, $10,000 and the $25,000 levels, you are guaranteed that much money. Otherwise, it's the same game. Ten challenges, each to be accomplished in under a minute. Complete the task, and you move to the next level. You will have three lives to use during the game. At the end of each level, you can take the cash and dash, or you can stay and play, and that's important, because if you run out of lives, your game is over and you leave with the last safeguard.

And of course, as the Computer will tell you, "Failure to complete this task in 60 seconds may result in ELIMINATION."

MILESTONE LEVEL 1: NOSE DIVE: Using petroleum jelly as an adhesive, the contestant must transfer five cotton balls from one end of the stage to the other... using only their nose.

First attempt (Jessica)...  COMPLETE! (:14; $1000)

LEVEL 2: FACE THE COOKIE: The team must move two cookies from their foreheads to their mouth using only their facial muscles.

Attempt 1...  COMPLETE! (:23, $2000)

LEVEL 3: ELEPHANT MARCH: Eight bottles are placed eight feet apart in parallel lines. The contestant much wear a standard pair of pantyhose, one leg on her head and the other hanging with a baseball. Using the momentum of the ball, she must knock down all eight bottles by march along a center line.

Attempt 1 (Traci)... FAIL (TIME OUT; TWO lives remaining)

Attempt 2 (Jessica)... FAIL (TIME OUT; ONE life remaining)

FINAL Attempt (Jessica)... COMPLETE! (:08, $3000)

LEVEL 4: THIS BLOWS: The contestants must inflate balloons, then use the escaping air to knock down 15 plastic cups each

ONLY Attempt 1... FAIL (TIME OUT; GAME OVER) But they do leave with $1000.

Next team out of the gate are the Spectrum Surfers, Eric (41; Long Beach, CA) & Rey (39; Van Nuys, CA). They're Navy Brat brothers who are playing for cash to expand their business, Surf Therapy, which uses surfing as therapy for autism.

MILESTONE LEVEL 1: MAD DOG: One contestant must hold a ruler with two boxes of breath mints attacked, then using mad-dog-like reflexes, the contestant must empty the boxes. The other contestant must do likewise.

First attempt...  COMPLETE! (:23; $1000)

LEVEL 2: PUDDLE JUMPER: The contestant must blow three ping pong balls each from one water-filled cup to another.

Attempt 1 (Rey)...  COMPLETE! (:32, $2000)

LEVEL 3: HIGH STRUNG: Using a looped string, the contestant must transport a raw egg from one bottle across the 60 Second Circle to another. This must be held for a three-count.

Attempt 1 (Rey)... COMPLETE! (:09, $3000)

LEVEL 4: BOOBY TRAP: The contestant must use ping pong balls to knock a leaning potato chip can over a soda bottle. This must be repeated three times.

Attempt 1 (Eric)... COMPLETE (:44; $5000).

MILESTONE LEVEL 5: PUNCH YOUR LIGHTS OUT: One contestant must throw bean bags underhand at a wall of six taplights, turning them off. But be careful, because if you throw them at a light you turned off, then it will turn back on.

Attempt 1 (Eric)...  COMPLETE! (:14, $10,000). And they are not done yet! STAND BY.

YOUR RECAP CONTINUES IN 3... 2... 1...
