Mr. Mean & the Beauty Queen
July 9

Last hour, we saw one team zero out and one team win $10,000.

Our third team of the night are Mr. Mean & the Beauty Queen, Ron (45; Palm Desert, CA) and his daughter Chloe (17; Palm Desert, CA). They're playing for Chloe and her brother's college. Ron likes to ride motorcycles and is seen by some to be a little intimidating. Chloe likes to sing and do pageants. In fact, she was in the Miss Teen California Pageant this past year.

MILESTONE LEVEL 1: MAD DOG: One contestant must hold a ruler with two boxes of breath mints attacked, then using mad-dog-like reflexes, the contestant must empty the boxes. The other contestant must do likewise.

First attempt... COMPLETE! (:34; $1000)

LEVEL 2: OFFICE MAXIMUS: The contestant have to bounce a rubber band ball to knock down three reams of paper, a distance of 16 feet on a table.

First attempt (Chloe)... COMPLETE! (:19; $2000)

LEVEL 3: SNAP, CRACKLE & TOPPLE: One player must arrange 13 cereal boxes as dominoes in order to get them to topple one after the other until they hit a final open box, filling a waiting cereal bowl.

Attempt 1 (Ron)... COMPLETE! (:02, $3000)

LEVEL 4: STICKY SITUATION: The contestant must bounce ping-pong balls in an attempt to stick one each on two slices of bread covered with peanut butter and one covered in jelly.

Attempt 1 (Chloe)... COMPLETE! (:25, $5000)

MILESTONE LEVEL 5: OFFICE TENNIS: The team must use clipboards to rally a crumpled piece of paper into a wastebasket. A carry or double-hit will mean a loss of life.

Attempt 1...  FAIL (TIME OUT, TWO lives remaining)

Attempt 2... COMPLETE! (:08; $10,000)

LEVEL 6: DROP BALL: The contestant must remove a water bottle, which is on top of a five gallon water jug, so that a golf ball drops into the jug. This must be done FOUR times out of seven.

Attempt 1 (Ron).... FAIL (ATTEMPT OUT at :34, ONE life remaining)

Attempt 2 (Chloe).... COMPLETE! (:42, $15,000). Ends up missing one of the freebies, but who cares, she's got the money.

MILESTONE LEVEL 7: CYCLONE: The contestant must spin marbles inside of three soda bottles at a time. The spins must be simultaneously held for a three-count.

ONLY attempt (Chloe).... FAIL (ATTEMPT OUT at :55; GAME OVER). But they do leave with $10,000.

Another team will give it their all next time.
