Sneak Preview
May 23
This summer, the game that challenged
America to take on simple tasks with household items in under a minute
returns. But before it begins in earnest, GSN is offering a sneak
preview of things to come.
It's the same game you've seen before,
with a few changes. First of all is the host, Olympic speedskater Apolo
Anton Ohno. Second is the stakes...
LEVEL 1: $1000
LEVEL 2: $2000
LEVEL 3: $3000
LEVEL 4: $5000
LEVEL 5: $10,000
LEVEL 6: $15,000
LEVEL 7: $25,000
LEVEL 8: $50,000
LEVEL 9: $100,000
LEVEL 10: $250,000
Once you pass the $10,000 and the $25,000
levels, you are guaranteed that much money. Otherwise, it's the same
game. Ten challenges, each to be accomplished in under a minute.
Complete the task, and you move to the next level. You will have three
lives to use during the game. At the end of each level, you can take the
cash and dash, or you can stay and play, and that's important, because
if you run out of lives, your game is over and you leave with the last
safeguard.
And of course, as the Computer will tell
you, "Failure to complete this task in 60 seconds may result in
ELIMINATION."
First players to play the new version of
Minute to Win It are LINDA & NOAH SMITH, a married couple who are
playing to pay for a much more lavish ceremony than they had before.
They did the whole license, judge, done, thing.
MILESTONE LEVEL 1: MAD DOG:
One contestant must hold a ruler with two
boxes of breath mints attacked, then using mad-dog-like reflexes, the
contestant must empty the boxes. The other contestant must do likewise.
Attempt 1... COMPLETE (:40, $1000)
LEVEL 2: CLIPPER:
Using bundle clips, the contestant must roll ping pong balls down a
slanted table into a row of three bundle clips.
Attempt 1 (Linda)... COMPLETE (:21,
$2000)
LEVEL 3: SNAP, CRACKLE & TOPPLE:
One player must arrange 13 cereal boxes as dominoes in order to get them
to topple one after the other until they hit a final open box, filling a
waiting cereal bowl.
Attempt 1 (Noah) ... COMPLETE (:49,
$3000)
LEVEL 4: BOOBY TRAP:
The contestant must use ping pong balls to knock a leaning potato chip
can over a soda bottle. This must be repeated three times.
Attempt 1 (Linda)... COMPLETE (:22, $5000)
MILESTONE LEVEL 5: OFFICE TENNIS:
The team must use clipboards to rally a crumpled piece of paper into a
wastebasket. A carry or double-hit will mean a loss of life.

LEVEL 6: MOUTH TO MOUTH:
The contestant must pull a one dollar bill from between the mouths of
two glass bottles without knocking them over. The bottle must remain

MILESTONE LEVEL 7: CHOP STACK:
The contestant must use chopsticks to transfer and stack four tubes of
lip balm. The stack must remain upright for a three-count.
Attempt 1 (Linda)... FAIL (TIME OUT; TWO
LIVES remaining)
Attempt 2 (Linda)... FAIL (TIME OUT, ONE
LIFE remaining)
Final attempt (Noah)... FAIL (TIME OUT,
GAME OVER). But they do leave with $10,000.
