June 12

"Take a look at me now, there's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face
Take a look at me now, there's just an empty space
And you coming back to me is against all odds,
____ ___ ____ ____ ____ ____"

Tonight on the party, two contestants have faced devastating odds and overcome them... Now they're going to come back on the stage, putting their bad luck behind them for a shot at the million, and "it's a chance I've gotta take"

First up from Detroit Rock City, it's SHARI WILSON! She's a single divorced woman with $110 in her checking account, but she'd like to add a million for her daughter. Can she do it tonight? Here's her board...

R&B                ROCK
BOB SEGER    BREAK UP SONGS
PARTY SONG    1960s
BALLADS        POP
        CLASSIC ROCK

First up for $2500, it's going to be... the 1960s.

- "You've Made Me So Happy" - Blood, Sweat & Tears
- "What's New Pussycat?" - Tom Jones

She goes with "What's New Pussycat". She needs three...

What's new pussycat, whoa whoa whoa
Pussycat, pussycat, I love you...

... "Yes I do". She locks in the lyrics for $2500. Next we go classic for...

- "Give a Little Bit" - Supertramp
- "Light My Fire" - The Doors

She wants to light up. She needs three words to do it...

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the... WHAT?

"Night on fire"... is good again for $5000! Next for $10,000... Bob Seger...

-  "Katmandu"
- "Against the Wind"

Her mother loves "Against the Wind". She's going with that. We're looking for four words...

It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Caught like a wildfire out of control
'Til there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove
And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then
Against the wind
We were.... WHAT WERE WE DOING?

"Runnin' against the wind". That sounds right, but she calls for a backup. After we pay the bills, she plays her karaoke buddy Eric. He agrees with Shari's guess. She uses the Two Words... First and last... We get "Runnin' ____ ____ wind"... She finally goes with her gut... and her gut is right!

Next is for guaranteed money. We go to Pop.

- "Because of You" - Kelly Clarkson
- "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" - Chicago

Rather than go with Rickey's close personal friend... we go to "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is". Six words gets you $25,000.

As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me what the time was that was on my watch, yeah
And I said

Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care... ANYBODY?

"If not I can't imagine why". She uses the Three Lines...

A: They say time is gonna fly
B: You know I gotta wonder why
C: If so I can't imagine why

She locks in C... and she's got $25,000! To double, we go to R&B.

- "There'll Be Sad Songs" - Billy Ocean
- "You Send Me" - Sam Cooke

She goes with Mr. Sam Cooke. We need to send her seven words.

Darling you send me
Honest you do, honest you do
Honest you do, whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
At first I thought it was infatuation
But woo, it's lasted so long
Now I find myself wanting... to WHAT?

"To marry you and take you home." That is a beautiful sentiment, but will she lock it in? She does... She has $50,000!

Now... for $100,000... Let's party with...

- "Let's Groove" - Earth, Wind & Fire
- "I Got You (I Feel Good)" - James Brown

She feels good... She feel 10 words?

I feel good, I knew that I would now
So good, so good, I got you
Whoa! I feel nice, like sugar and spice
I feel nice, like... WHAT?

"Sugar and spice, so nice, so nice, 'cause I got". She's missing a word... She has no backups... She doesn't know how to change that up, so she's going to walk with the $50,000. No shame in her game. Correct: Sugar and spice, so nice, so nice, I got you.

Next up to play is MICHELLE GRAMALDO from San Diego. She's playing for a new home to replace her old one that was lost to the wildfires last October. We have graphical evidence... and her friends who helped her rebuild. Now let's help her get to a million dollars. The board...

1960s        POP
DISCO        JOURNEY
IN THE MOVIES    R&B
ROCK        LOVE SONGS
        PARTY SONGS

She starts out with Journey for $2500.

- "Don't Stop Believin'"
- "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'"

Starting with "Don't Stop Believin'". We're looking for three words...

Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
A singer in a smokey room
The smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searchin'... where?

"Through the night" It's that one word that's bugging her. Husband Greg and boss Tom... will have to sit on their hands while she uses the 2 Words. She ends up with "in ___ night" "In the night" sounds lockable... and she does for $2500.

Love Songs next, please...

- "Never Gonna Let You Go" - Sergio Mendes
- "How Much I Feel" - Ambrosia

She feels like Ambrosia. Does she feel like $5000? She better feel three words.

That's how much I feel
Feel for you, baby
How much I need I need your touch
How much I live I live for your loving...

"That's how much" is right for $5000. Moving right along to Disco.

- "Play That Funky Music" - Wild Cherry
- "Hot Stuff" - Donna Summer

Ten large is "Hot Stuff". Three words. Three audience members joining...

Sitting here, eatin' my heart out waitin'
Waitin' for some lover to call
Lookin' for some hot stuff baby this evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight
I want some hot stuff baby this evenin'
Gotta have some hot stuff
Gotta have... WHAT?

"Some love tonight". Could be...  IS! Now for the guaranteed money. Back to the 60s.

- "Jenny Take a Ride" - Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels
- "People Are Strange" - The Doors

She's gonna do something strange for a little change...

People are strange when you're a stranger
Faces look ugly when you're alone
Women seem wicked when you're unwanted
Streets are uneven when you're down
When you're strange...

"People look all the same.." Obviously she's blanking, so she goes with 3 Lines.

A: Faces come out of the rain
B: People stay out in the rain
C: People don't think that you're sane

She locks in A... and with all her friends in tow she's... RIGHT!

For $50,000, we're going to rock it out.

- "Come Sail Away" - Styx
- "Get Off My Cloud" - The Rolling Stones

She's... sailing away...... Set an open course for seven words and $50,000.

I'm sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
On board, Imp the captain, so climb aboard
Well search for tomorrow on every shore
And I'll try... TO DO WHAT?

And... completely blanked. She uses her 1 Backup with Tom. He says "oh lord, I'll try to carry on". He knows this. She goes with it..... GOT IT!

Next for $100,000... R&B.

- "Nothing From Nothing" - Billy Preston
- "Save the Best For Last" - Vanessa Williams

We're saving the best for last... Nine words... for $100,000.

Sometimes the snow comes down in June
Sometimes the sun goes round the moon
I see the passion in your eyes
Sometimes its all a big surprise
cause there was a time when all I did was wish
You'd tell me this was love
It's not the way I hoped or how I planned
But somehow its enough

And now were standing... WHERE?

"Face to face, isn't this world a crazy place" She won't feel bad if she's wrong... She doesn't have to. She's Right!

But can she win $200,000? Poppin' it with..

- "Beat It" - Michael Jackson
- "Roll To Me" - Del Amitri

"Beat Iiiiiiit!" This is for Michael, ten words are for Michelle...

They told him don't you ever come around here
Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear
The fire's in their eyes and their words are really clear
So beat it! Just beat it!
Just beat it! (beat it! ) Beat it! (beat it!)
No one wants to be defeated
Show them how funky and strong... HOW STRONG

"You're just right, you don't know the words so it..." Out of lyrics-lines... out of luck. She decides to throw in the towel, but $100,000 is one hell of a block party! Correct: "is your fight, it doesn't matter who's wrong or right".

Next time, we round out the season with one more shot at a million. Until then, remember, it's not what you know about it, it's what you sing about it. Take us out, Rickey.
