Episode 3.7: En Vogue
November 7

"You got bad luck, that's ___ __ ____..."

What we did on November 4th was choose Obama or McCain, but on "Don't Forget The Lyrics!," choosing one of 2 songs is "What you got." What's not to lose? Last time, John Worek delivered one for his son and $25,000 in the mail, while Debra Toscano took a rush through $200,000. Let's get to this quickly, shall we?

For this celebrity game, we've reunited a group from the 90's known for their hits. Here they are....En Vogue. And it's all 4 of them. They're playing for charity....that of course, would be 3. The Cancer Treatment Centers of America, St. Jude Research and Retina Blastoma International. On to the subjects:

1960s COUNTRY
DISCO R&B
POP ROCK
DIANA ROSS INSPIRATIONAL SONGS
PARTY SONGS

R&B is their first choice and:
  • Rescue Me - Fontella Bass
  • Don't Let Go (Love) - En Vogue
They get their own song. Oh boy. Let's set it off!

What's it gonna be
Cuz I can't pretend
Don't you wanna be more than friends
Hold me tight and don't let go
Don't let go
Have the right to lose control
Don't let go

I often tell myself
That we could be more than just friends
I know you think that if we move to soon
It would all end
I live in misery when you're not around
And I won't be satisfied 'till we're taking those vows

There'll be some lovemaking, heartbreaking...WHAT?

Their answer: Soul-shaking love. And they lock it in.....SHAKE IT UP! That's is correct!  Next up is Diana Ross and these 2 songs by the boss are:
  • Upside Down
  • Love Child (w/The Supremes)
They get upside down. Let's get it!

I said upside down
You're turning me
You're giving love instinctively
Around and round you're turning me

Upside down
Boy, you turn me
Inside out
And...WHAT?

Their answer: Round and round. What goes around comes around. Or do they? They lock it in....CORRECT!  Disco will be next for the group and these 2:
  • Night Fever - Bee Gees
  • Best of My Love - Emotions
They get "Best Of My Love." Let's Jam!

Doesn't take much to make me happy
and make me smile
Never never will I feel discouraged
Cause our love's no mystery
Demonstrating love and affection
That you give so openly yeah
I like the way ya make me about you baby
Want the whole wide...WHAT?

Their answer: World to see. They lock it in...we see it's.....RIGHT. For the safety net, they get Pop and these 2 songs:
  • Neutron Dance - The Pointer Sisters
  • You're My Best Friend - Queen
They get the Neutron Dance. Y'all ready?

Don't want to take it anymore
I'll just stay here locked behind the door
Just no time to stop and get away
'Cause I work so hard to make it everyday

Whoo oooh
Whoo oooh

And it's hard to say
Just how some things never change
And it's hard to find
Any strength to draw the line, oh....STOP!

Their answer: I'm just burning doin' the neutron dance. They lock it in.....They're ON FIRE! It's correct. Next is Party Songs and these 2:
  • You Make Me Feel Like Dancing - Leo Sayer
  • Let's Groove - Earth Wind & Fire
They get let's groove. So do we.

Let this groove, get you to move,
it's alright, alright
let this groove, set in your shoes,
stand up, alright

Gonna tell you what...alright, En Vogue, go ahead.

Their answer: You can do with my love. They lock it in.....YES!  Next one is 1960's and:
  • Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys
  • My Boyfriend's Back - The Guess Who
They get Guess Who's, er, My Boyfriend's Back. Here we go.

My boyfriend's back and you're gonna be in trouble
(Hey-la, hey-la, my boyfriend's back)
When you see him coming, better cut out on the double
(Hey-la, hey-la, my boyfriend's back)...STOP. They blank out and recover with: Yeah, you're gonna be in trouble....and they're in trouble. Maybe the 3 lines will help:

A - You been telling lies that I was untrue
B - Better stop your lies that I was untrue
C - You been spreading lies that I was untrue

They lock it in with the true answer which is: C. C is for CORRECT!  Rock will be next and these 2 songs are:
  • Never - Heart
  • Pinball Wizard - The Who
They get "Never." And....

Hey baby I'm talking to you
Stop yourself and listen
Some things you can never choose
Even if you try yeah
You're bangin' your head again
Cause somebody won't let you in
One chance...one love
Your chance to let me know

We can't go on
Just running away
If we stay any longer
We will surely never get away
Anything you want - we can make it happen
Stand up...STOP IT!

Their answer: and turn around, Never let them shoot us down. They lock it in....BULLSEYE! Next up, Inspirational Songs and these 2 to lift you up:
  • New Attitude - Patti Labelle
  • You Can Do Magic - America
They get a new attitude. This one's for you, Phillies fans!

Runnin' hot, runnin' cold
I was runnin' into overload
It was extreme, ex-ex-ex-ex-ex-extreme
It took it so high, so low
So low, there was nowhere to go
Like a dream
Somehow the wires uncrossed, the tables were turned
Never knew I had such a lesson to learn
I'm feelin' good from my head to my shoes
Know where I'm goin' and I know...STOP RIGHT THERE!

Their answer: What to do, I tightened up my point of view. Maybe it's not right. 2 words, please. Tightened becomes "tidied" and view is the same. They clean this mess up by locking it in....YES! Last one on the board is Country and these 2:
  • Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song - BJ Thomas
  • Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus (Miley's Dad)
They get Achy Breaky Heart. Ready, Get set....Now go!

You can tell the world you never was my girl
You can burn my clothes up when I'm gone
You can tell your friends just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke about me on the phone
You can tell my arms go back to the farm
You can tell my feet to hit the floor
Or you can tell my lips to tell my fingertips
They won't be reaching out for you no more

But don't tell my heart
My achy breaky heart
I just don't think he'd understand
And if you tell my heart
My achy breaky heart....STOP

They blank out. Maybe Dave will help the group out who comes up with....a bailout button. In other words, no answer, so they take the $350,000 and split 3-way. If you're playing along, the answer was: He might blow up and kill this man.

We leave you now with the group doing a medley of their classic hits. So that's it. Before you light another firecracker with a song, take precaution that it's not what you know about it, it's what you sing about it.
