Episode 2.19
February 7

"I See the happiness, I see the pain, ____ ____ __..."

People wonder "Where am I?" as they're on a game show. "Don't Forget The Lyrics" is where they'll find it. Last time, Shamari Berkley ripped down the 18 & over sign and won $350,000. Now we point the way to the entrance door as we start the show.

It's the month of February, and we kick off with the first couple to compete on the show, and that is Lisa & Justin Riesand from Arizona. In this couples game, they take turns playing lead singer. So now we turn to the board:

ROCK                      ROCK ANTHEMS
POP                        DISCO
R&B                        BILLY JOEL
BREAK-UP SONGS DUETS
                  1970'S

Lisa is up first on Billy Joel and the songs from the Piano Man are:

  • We didn't start the fire

  • You may Be Right

She gets "You May Be Right." Here we go.....

Friday night I crashed your party
Saturday I said I'm sorry
Sunday came and trashed me out again
I was only having fun....STOP!

Lisa's answer: Dang it dang....Don't dang herself, she uses the 2 lines backup. She gets the last 2 which is: "Hurting anyone." So she locks it in with: Wasn't hurting anyone. Did that help?  YES! It's now Justin's turn to pick. He gets: Duets. The perfect category for couples. They must now both be in on these 2:

  • You're the One that I want-Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta

  • Reunited-Peaches & Herb

He gets "You're the One that i want." We're off!

I got chills
They're multiplying
And I'm losing control
'Cause the power you're supplying
It's electrifying!

You better shape up
'Cause I need a man
And my heart...STOP!

Justin, er, Lisa's answer: Is set on you. He's all set to lock it in.....GOOD!  Lisa now takes control with Break-up Songs, and these:

  • What A Fool Believes-The Doobie Bros.

  • You're So Vain-Carly Simon

She gets "What A Fool Believes." Don't get laughed at, now.

He came from somewhere back in her long ago
The sentimental fool don't see
Tryin' hard to recreate
What had yet to be created once in her life

She musters a smile
For his nostalgic tale
Never coming near what he wanted to say...GO LISA!

Lisa's answer: Only to realize. And only on this show it may be correct. She locks it in.....and it's only RIGHT! Justin takes the wheel with: Rock Anthems. Try these:

  • We Built This City-Starship

  • Piece of My Heart-Janis Joplin

He gets We Built This City. Let's see how much more of a mountain of cash they're building.

We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

Say you don't know me, or recognize my face
Say you don't care...STOP IT! And Justin blanks out. He gets the 3 lines and they are:

A-Who runs in that kind of race
B-TO live in that fast a pace
C-Who goes to that kind of place

They say a, but they're not sure, so they call mom out with A. They lock it in, is the finish line in sight?......Not IT! Had they chose C, it was worth $25K. Looks like it's a double beatdown for Lisa & Justin. But now it's John Adams, a father of 3 from Lancaster, Ca. to beat down the 9 categories for a million. And they are:

ROCK                     ROCK ANTHEMS
POP                       DONNA SUMMER
LEGENDS               1970'S
LOVE SONGS         PARTY SONGS
                    R&B

First up for the father of 3 kids: Rock Anthems, and these 2:

  • Spinning Wheel-Blood, Sweat & Tears

  • Another One Bites the Dust-Queen

He gets "Another One Bites the Dust." Let's dig in!

Steve walks warily down the street,
with the brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet,
machine guns ready to go

Are you ready,
Are you ready for this
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust...Band stopped playing, what is John's guess?

John's answer: And another one gone. And he locks it in.....RIGHT! What's next? Party Songs. Party on with these:

  • Puttin' on the Ritz-Taco

  • Dancing On The Ceiling-Lionel Richie

He gets Dancing on The Ceiling. Let's dance!

What is happening here
Something's going on that's not quite clear
Somebody turn on the lights
We're gonna have a party
It's starting tonight

Oh....OH, JOHN?

John's answer: What a feeling. He locks it in...and what a feeling it is to be RIGHT! What's next? Rock. Try these 2:

  • You Ain't seen Nothin' Yet-BTO

  • Crocodile Rock-Elton John

He gets Crocodile Rock. Rock on, y'all!

I remember when rock was young
Me and Shandi had so much fun (C-Note: Sly, Pierre...)
holding hands and skimming stones
Had an old gold Chevy and a place of my own
But the biggest kick I ever got
was doing a thing called the Crocodile Rock
While the other kids were Rocking Round the Clock
we were hopping and bopping to the Crocodile Rock

Well Crocodile Rocking is something shocking
when your feet just can't keep still
I never knew me a better time and I guess....What's your guess, John?

John's answer: I never will. But I will tell you as he locks it in, that it's CORRECT! Next up is Donna Summer, and the 2 songs from the queen of Disco are:

  • She works hard for the money

  • On the radio

John gets "She Works Hard for the money." Here we go.

She works hard for the money. So hard for it, honey.
She works hard for the money. So you better...DO WHAT?

John's answer: Treat her right. And as he locks it in...that is RIGHT! And the next one up is Legends, and these 2....

  • Rocket Man-Elton John

  • I Can't Get Next to You-The Temptations

He gets Rocket Man. Blast Off!

She packed my bags last night
Pre-flight,
Zero hour, nine a.m.
And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then.

I miss the earth so much,
I miss my wife.
It's lonely out in space
On such a timeless flight.

And I think....THINK WHAT?

John's answer: It's gonna be a long long time. He locks it in....SCORE! Our next category: 1970's. What's on the menu, please?

  • Jet Airliner-Steve Miller Band

  • Carry On Wayward Son-Kansas

He gets Carry On Wayward Son. We're on our way!

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest...Music stops playing, what's the answer?

John's answer: Don't you cry no more. He locks it in...and he's not gonna cry, because it's RIGHT! On to Pop we go and these 2:

  • My Eyes Adored You-Frankie Valli

  • Let's Dance-David Bowie

He gets Mayas adored, er, My Eyes Adored you. And we're off!

My eyes adored ya
Though I never laid a hand on you
My eyes adored ya
Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see how I adored ya

So close...SO WHAT?

John's answer: And yet so far away too. Looks like he wants the 3 lines to make sure. Bring 'em up!

A-So close and then you're gone
B-So Close yet far from me
C-So close and yet so far

He takes C as his guess, but he burns the 2 lines to make sure. So obviously,  he locks it in with c. That IS...THE RIGHT ANSWER! 2 more to go, and Love Songs is the next one. They are:

  • Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor) - Robert Palmer

  • Baby, Come to Me-James Ingram & Patti Austin

He gets the Robert Palmer song. Let's see if that's the case for $350,000.

Whooaaaaa
The hot summer night fell like a net
I've got to find my baby yet
I need you to soothe my head
Turn my blue heart to red

Doctor, doctor, give me the news
I've got a bad case of lovin' you
No pill's gonna cure my ill
I've got a bad case of lovin' you...STOP! And he blanks out. He calls out his brother jim, but nothing doing for him. Seems it's a good time to bail out....and he does at $200,000. If you're paying attention, the first line of the second verse has the answer: A pretty face don't make no pretty heart.

And we've made another episode. The only thing left for me to say is that it's not what you know about it, it's what you sing about it.
