Episode 2-15
December 20

"Bells will be ringing, the glad glad news,
Oh what a Christmas to ____ ___ _____..."

It's still "Don't Forget the Lyrics!" I'm NOT Pierre Kelly (I'm Chico Alexander, the correspondent on the other karaoke-based game show), but lyrics fans, I guarantee you you won't "have the blues" as we take on the band together.

Tonight from Phoenix, AZ, RONDA BEAMAN. She’s a college professor, and her class is in the building. She’s also a former winner (with her sons Chase and Sean) of America’s Most Talented Family or something.

Her categories:

ROCK                                                                     1980s
POP                                                                       ROCK ANTHEMS
R&B                                                                       LOVE SONGS
JOHN LENNON                                                  DISCO
                                COUNTRY

Ronda starts with the win on Pop.

-          “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, Bobby McFerrin

-          “Fox on the Run”, Sweet

For $2500, here’s the song…

Here’s a little song I wrote,
You might want to sing it…

“Note for note.” Lock it in, she says. She’s right! Next up, she’s gone country…

-          “The Devil  Went Down to Georgia”, Charlie Daniels Band

-          “Mountain Music”, Alabama

We’re playing some “Mountain Music” for $5000.

Oh play me some mountain music
Like grandma and grandpa used to play
Then I’ll float on down the river
To a Cajun hideaway
Drift away like Tom Sawyer
Ride a raft with ol’ Huck Finn
Take a nap like Rip Van Winkle
Daze dreamin’ again
Oh play me some mountain music
Like grandma and…

“Grandpa used to play.” Sounded like she knew it. Although she swears he never heard it. She uses her 2 Words, ending up with “___ used ___ play”. Will she lock it in? Yep. Will she win $5000? YEP.

We’re doubling with the 80s...

-          “I Think We’re Alone Now”, Tiffany

-          “(Don’t You) Forget About Me”, Simple Minds

“I Think We’re Alone Now.” Four words. Let’s sing it.

Children behave
That's what they say when we're together
And watch how you play
They don't understand
And so we're
Running just as fast as we can
Holdin' on...

“To one another's hand.” Sounded good. She locks it. And she’s right for $10,000!

She’s trying for $25,000 with John Lennon...

-          “Instant Karma (We All Shine On)”

-          “Whatever Gets You Through the Night”

Instant karma’s gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darlin’
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see
Laughing at fools like me
Who on earth do you think you are
A super star? Well, right you are
Well we all shine on
Like the…

“Moon and the stars and the sun.” She wanted to finish the chorus. Lock it. She’s got it for $25,000!

She tries to double it on Love Songs…

-          “Always and Forever”, Heatwave

-          “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, Queen

She saves the Queen. Five missing words for $50,000.

This thing (this thing) called love (called love)
It cries (like a baby) in a cradle all night
It swings (woo woo), it jives (woo woo)
It shakes all over like a jellyfish
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love.
There goes my baby
She knows how to rock ‘n roll
She drives me crazy
She gives...

“Me hot hot fever… ___” “Curse you, Freddie Mercury.” Three Lines, please.

A) Me hot and cold flashes
B) Me hot and cold signals
C) Me hot and cold fever

She goes with C… right for $50,000! Let’s go for $100,000. But first, let’s meet Chase and Sean (aka Cheech and Chong). Okay, that’s fun. Now to the $100,000 song in Rock.

-          “American Woman”, The Guess Who

-          “Sweet Home Alabama”, Lynyrd Skynyrd

ALABAMA! She’s playing “Sweet Home Alabama…” A whopping 11 words are missing.

Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet home Alabama
Lord I’m coming home to you
(instrumental)
In Birmingham they love the governor (oh oh oh)
Now we all did what we could do…

“My conscience doesn’t bother me, I hope it doesn’t bother you.” She hopes these words are true. She’s “meh” on the words. Let’s call Cheech up for her final Backup. Cheech likes Skynyrd. He says “My conscience does not bother me, does your conscience bother you?” This is for $100,000... If she’s wrong, she’s going home with $25,000. OR she can walk out with $50,000.

Cheech is not 100% on this. About 90%. Her gut... says lock it in. She listens to her gut...

The last line’s right. The middle’s right... But the first two words are wrong. Correct lyrics: “Now Watergate...” “Darn Watergate. A blight on our country’s history.” But Ronda Beaman leaves with $25,000.

Next up, from St. Louis is MARTY CASEY (C-Note: Not the contestant from “Rock Star”). She grew up singing gospel, and she wants to send her daughter to culinary school. The board she’s working with...

ROCK                                                                     COUNTRY
POP                                                                       BREAK UP SONGS
R&B                                                                       IN THE FAMILY
BILLY JOEL                                                           LEGENDS
                                1970s

First for $2500, we’re all about family.

-          “Love Will Keep Us Together”, the Captain & Tenille

-          “Top of the World”, the Carpenters

“Love Will Keep Us Together”. Three little old words are all we need.

Love
Love will keep us together
Think of me babe whenever
Some sweet talking girl comes along
Singing a song
Don’t mess around
You just got to be strong
‘Cause I...

What would Marty tell her man? “I’ll kill you.” That’s Moment of Truth, January 23 on Fox.  Needless to say, we’re using a backup, Gail and Damon (friends)? Gail gets the call. She sings “Really love you.” Lock in those lyrics... And we’re on our way for $2500.

No love song should ever have “I’ll kill you” in the lyrics unless it’s maybe “Love Me Like the World Is Ending” by Ben Lee.

Next up, R&B.

-          “Mr. Big Stuff”, Jean Knight

-          “Stuck on You”, Lionel Richie

Going with Mr. Big...

Mr. Big Stuff
Who do you think you are
Mr. Big Stuff
You’re never gonna…

“Get my love”. She sang it like she knew it. She locks it in... And she’s right for $5000. Kung fu celebration.

Next up, the 1970s.

-          “I Am Woman”, Helen Reddy

-          “Let Him In”, Wings

She is woman. Is she the $10,000 woman? Hit it.

I am woman hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back and pretend
‘Cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down again
Oh yes I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I had to I can do anything
I am strong (strong)…

BACKUP! Two words: I am ___. Final backup.

A) I am invisible
B) I am invincible
C) I’m really spiritual

She goes with B. “Why would I be invisible?” Lock it in... RIGHT! But now it’s all her to the million.

She goes with Pop...

-          “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)”, Dead or Alive

-          “These Eyes”, The Guess Who

She gets an added crutch. We have a choir for the choir girl. In the choir, her daughter Morgan. She chooses “These Eyes”. Three words.

These eyes
Cry every night
For you
These arms
Long to hold you again
The hurtin’s on me yeah
And I will  never be free
No my baby no no
You gave a promise to me yeah
and…

“I love you.” Go for it and get it, $25,000. Go for it and miss… nothing. Or she can walk. She walks with the $10,000. Correct lyrics: “You broke it.” But she has $10,000 for her trouble.

Will someone win the million? Find out next week. And as always, remember, it's not what you know about it... It's what you sing about it!
