Never Give Up:
Stage 8 Seven teams started stage 7, and through injuries and mental blocks, the Gypsies arrived once again in first. Second went to No Limits, who overcome Ike's injured ankle. Back of the pack, Fab 3 overcome being lost and having to endure Kari's unending whining to continue in the quest for the impossible, a quest that will continue, sadly, without the Country Boys. First, an update on Ike. He thinks that he might've fractured it again. The good news... it isn't. But there is ligament damage. He wants to keep going, so that will require a cast. Next day, we head out on the trail again. This is a two-day stage. Starting out, we're going to the shore of Lake Bin el Ouidane. To get there, rappel down the ancient kasbah and hike down. The Gypsies headstart will apply for three minutes. Remember... Be strong, work together, and never give up. Following them... California Girls and No Limits. The rest of the teams head out at the end. So as teams head up... they also head... down. Natalie bangs her knee on the rock. It's just a flesh wound! At the bottom, John rolls his ankle. For the second time. And back at the rappel, Christina's rope is stuck... and at that point, the team is in last. Gypsies are in first when they find.... CHECKPOINT #1 - LAKE BIN EL OUIDANE That's right, two kayaks for three people. Pumping sucks. Akbar sees kayaks in the distance and thinks... not this again. The Gypsies are the first to head out, followed by the Footballers and the Fab 3... and No Limits... CHECKPOINT #2 - PRISON ISLAND Transform your two kayaks into one catamaran, then sail to Saddle Island, where you will spend the night. The instructions are written... in sailing jargon. GREAT. The teams finally head to the island... while the California Girls... are struggling. Hard to believe, but the teams are actually doing this right, with the Cops passing everybody! Fab 3 begin to languish on their catamaran... and argue... constantly. Back of the fleet, Cali Girls learn the three-word truth about sailing: "Looks easy. Isn't." The Gypsies lose the wind, right as the Cops and No Limits catch up. It's a race to the island... and to Dave... It's going to come down to who runs the fastest... ... and that belongs to... NO LIMITS! As a reward, they will get a three minute head-start tomorrow. Cops come in second, followed by the Gypsies, the Footballers, Fab 3, and finally the Cali Girls. Before we head out, the Fab 3 and the Footballers enter into an alliance. The next day's assignment: swim to the mainland and hike until the next checkpoint, the Farm Ruins. No Limits head out first, followed by Cops and Gypsies, and then the rest of the pack. Two and a half guys start swimming on their stimpacks. Good idea. The rest of the team follow suit. Football Players end up in dead last. Meanwhile, Kari is feeling under the weather, having to run into the bushes to "take care of business so to speak." No Limits get lost... and end up in last place. The other teams pull ahead. The Footballers drive ahead of every team.... including the Gypsies. that.. doesn't last long. Kari has to stop again. The Gypsies and the Footballers are the first to... CHECKPOINT #3 - FARM RUINS Each answer will be used as a number to a compass bearing. They'll be used to navigate the field to the location where they'll find the next set of instructions. - How many points are on the star of our
host nation's flag? (5) Meanwhile, the pain is getting worse for No Limits. Ike just want to finish today. It's a battle between the Gypsies and the Footballers to first play. Gypsies... find it. Compass bearing: 16 degrees for 600 yards. I'd start running if I were you. First to the... FINISH LINE 8 Back at the challenge, Fab 3 and the Cops find the instructions and head to the finish in third and fourth. Cali Girls... are completely doing it wrong. This could be No Limits' big chance as they arrive at the Farm Ruins. The Cali Girls figure it out... having an a-ha moment when they see No Limits pick off this challenge like nothing. They get a very important headstart, as Ike is still plodding. Coming in fifth.... it's NO LIMITS! A great hustle by California Girls comes up just a bit short at the last second. A rough day ends as the friends stick together through thick and thin. The rest of the team sees them to the extraction chopper. Meanwhile, No Limits continues to live up to their billing. Expedition continues 15 deep next week as we push toward the ultimate goal.
