Week 8: Split & Reunite
November 10

If the last 2 weeks have a together feeling, then this week, everything falls apart. As always, the final 5 couples have 2 routines and nothing else. If you think it's hard, watch now as it becomes harder.

BALLROOM ROUND
How about a little ballroom to start things off? Cody & Edyta get to fox trot first as they dance to "Call Me Irresponsible" by Michael Buble. Cody jumped off from the start and by the finish, Edyta did a slide split. On to the judges faster. Carrie Ann subtracted a point for the lift, Len was pleastanly surprised and Bruno called it his most grown-up performance to date. Up to the scoreboard!

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Round 1 Score: 24

Next up, Brooke & Derek doing a tango. Brooke slid by foot in the intro and everything else....was nice. To the judges. Carrie Ann knows why she's the last woman standing, Len said it was riddled with mistakes and Bruno said it was in tune like 2 instruments. Let's get a melody with the scoreboard:

CARRIE: 10
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 10
Round 1 Score: 28

Next, Maurice & Cheryl doing a quickstep. It was so 30's with a cartwheel at the end by Cheryl. Let's spin over with the judges. Carrie Ann loved it, Len said it flew round that floor and Bruno said it kept going through with aplomb. I don't know what that word is, but I know where the scoreboard is:

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Round 1 score: 24

And to take the floor, Lance & Lacey doing a fox trot. Lance looked a little funny with his bowtie and Lacey sat on Lance's knee to end it. On to the judges. Carrie Ann said he's really animated out there, Len said he's on the wrong night.....Sunday Night Football?....and Bruno said he's really, really enjoyed it. Here's the scoreboard:

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 9
Round 1 Score: 26

The last couple in this half is Warren & Kyn doing a tango to "Spy Hunter." (Peter Gunn theme)  Kym held her foot over Warren's shoulder and they did everything else there. To the judges. Carrie Ann said he's made us feel they're in the number, Len said he's in it, now and Bruno said Secret Agent warren is back. Get in the scoreboard!

CARRIE: 10
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
Round 1 Score: 28

So at halftime, Brooke is in the lead with 30 while Maurice & Cody are way behind with a 24. 2nd half is about to begin!

LATIN ROUND

We have a wrinkle in the round. Each star will perform a solo for 15 seconds. Let's begin with Cody & Edyta doing a mambo to "My Way" by the Los Lonely Boys. Edyta did a flip-over and Cody leaped over the band area. He also did a solo with a one-arm push-up and a leap to the judges' table. Now he gets off and hears what the judges say. Carrie Ann said itw as a little erratic, Len said he's done 2 good dances and Bruno said it wasa  little spasmodic at times. Don't know what that other word is, but...you know.

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Round 2 Score: 24
Overall Score: 48

Keeping up with the mambo, it's Brooke & Derek dancing. Brooke flirted around at the judges table and Derek slid faster. He also did a knee drag from there. Let's drag race with the judges. Carrie Ann said her posture felt a little awkard, Len said that routine could revive the dead, and Bruno said it was very ambitous. On to the numbers...

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 9
BRUNO: 9
ROund 2 Score: 27
Overall Score: 55

Maurice & Cheryl will be next doing a paso doble. Maurice dragged Cheryl from the start and Maurice flirted Cheryl around and had fun alone with a cape. Cheryl also did a floor spin and a slide-through. Now we go to the judges. Carrie Ann said what will happen to him next week, Len said he did a really good job and Bruno said he twirled it around like a hurricane. Let's blow the scoreboard!

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 8
Round 2 Score: 24
Overall Score: 48

Lance & Lacey go next as they samba to "One Thing" by Amerie. He did some solo moves and I forgot about the rest of it. Oh well. On to the judges. Len said he must work on his footwork, Carrie Ann said about the samba being a difficult dance and Bruno said it was a very difficult samba. Did the score help?

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 9
ROund 2 Score: 24
Overall Score: 50

Warren & Kym take the last dance of the night as they jive. Everything was 50's inpired, but Warren got his big body down solo. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said he did a jive-inspired solo, Len said it was a joyful thing to watch and Bruno said he released a contagious sense of fun. Release the numbers!

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 9
Round 2 Score: 26
Overall Score: 54

Guess we're done. Right? Not without the final tally:

55 -- Brooke & Derek
54 -- Warren & Kym
50 -- Lance & Lacey
48 -- Cody & Edyta, Maurice & Cheryl
