Week 1b: You Get Seven What?
September
23

Last night's show ranged from the absurd to the outrageous as 13 stars danced for the very first time. But for one couple, it will be their last. All 13 are at the starting line...and they're off!

Yesterday, we had the "somewhat dreadful" cha-cha and foxtrot. But tonight will be any different. This time, it'll be the mambo or the quickstep. With the starter's pistol fired, Lacey & Lance get off the starting line and quickstep. Lance went next to Carrie Ann around the judges table and got to the ballroom with both doing a few foot slides and he pointed to the camera by the end. Now we point to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was very fun & contemporary, Len said he didn't like his hold and Bruno said it had incredible quality. Where's the scoreboard?

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 21
Off to a nice start.

In the 2nd lane, Misty & Maks doing a mambo to "Black Mambo." Misty gave the audience some support and both did a hand game. At the end, Misty went up to the band area to show her face. Now she gets to face the judges. Carrie Ann said the movements totally worked, Len said it was very brave and Bruno said she's got the power & attack of a task force. Let's rush 'n attack to the scoreboard:

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
It's now a tie for the top.

In lane 3, Maurice & Cheryl doing a mambo to "Land of 1,000 dances" by Wilson Pickett. Both did a backwards step down and Cheryl did a split. The best highlight: Maurice doing the worm. Whoa! Squirming to the judges now...Carrie Ann said the transitions were very smooth, Len didn't want that worm nonsense and Bruno said it was dynamic. To the scoreboard:

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
It's a 3-way tie for the lead.

Coming to lane 4, Brooke & Derek doing a quickstep to "This Heart of Mine" Both did some Charleston leg moves and even more. To the judges again. Carrie Ann was blown away, Len said it was the best dance so far and Bruno said Sen...sa...tion...al. To....the.....scores.....

CARRIE: 9
LEN: 8
BRUNO: 9
Total Score: 26
And they're now in the lead!

Out of lane 5, Cloris & Corky doing a mambo. One highlight you might see was Corky doing a labor gesture and Cloris doing a spanking gesture. Cloris also did spins and a scary gesture to end it. Let's not scare away the judges now. Carrie Ann said the goldne girl can shimmy, Len said she can shake those coconuts and Bruno taunted her with shady pines. Let's get to the scoreboard before I change it to "Catch 21."

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 5
BRUNO: 5
Sent off to the basement.

Toni & Alec quickstep on lane 6 to "Blue Skies" by Willie Nelson. One highlight you saw was Toni doing a flying squirrel move. We now fly over to the judges. Carrie Ann said she has a natural movement control,Len said she has the lightness of quality and Bruno said she's sparkly & elegant. Will a lead bring out fireworks or a basement give a firecracker?

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 23
And they go for 2nd place.

Going in lane 7, Warren & Kym do a quickstep. Warren did an arm move and both did a foot touch and they even danced in front of the judges table. Alright, you 2, step back, so we can hear the judges. Carrie Ann said he didn't miss a step, Len said it was fantastic and Bruno called him a ton of fun. Does the scoreboard weigh a ton? I hope so.

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 22
And they step on 3rd place.

And the race continues as Ted & Inna mambo. Inna put her leg over Ted and she did a split from there. Now, let's split over with the judges. Carrie Ann said there was a bit of awkardness when moving, Len said with hard work, anything is possible and Bruno said he squeezed every ounce of it. Time to squeeze out the numbers like a tube of toothpaste.

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 19
And they take over 5th place.

8th position gets Cody & Julianne doing a quickstep to "I Want You To Want Me" by Cheap Trick. With the jump-off move as an intro, they do get some nice moves. We move on over to the judges. Carrie Ann said he went from a boy to a man on the floor, Len said he danced with great maturity and Bruno called them the king & queen of the prom. Don't scare yourself. It's just the scoreboard.

CARRIE: 8
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 23
And they share the 2nd place score.

4 racers to the elimination line now as Rocco & Karina mambo. Rocco walked over Karina and she did spins and when she walked away, Rocco hanged in the audience. We hang out with the judges. Carrie Ann said it was super sexy, Len said it was much better and Bruno said it was a turnaround. We turn around and face the scoreboard:

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 7
Total Score: 21
Now a 4-way tie for 3rd place.

Susan & Tony move over as they mambo. Susan did a can opener move and there was some great quickstep action. Now let's go the judges. Carrie Ann said it was the strength & power & charisma expected, Len said it was better than last night and Bruno called her a fair lady. The scoreboard is always fair.

CARRIE: 7
LEN: 7
BRUNO: 8
Total Score: 22
They now tie for 2nd place.

The finish line is approaching. Who will cross it first, and who ends up crying in the locker room? Last place goes to...........Jeffrey & Edyta. Which means Kim & Mark must fight another day, and they'll mambo to "Baby Got Back" by Sir-Mix-A-Lot. There was a whole lot of butt shaking going on (C-Note: well consider who we're talking about). We go to the judges. Carrie Ann said she did great with what she did, Len said the whole thing lacked a bit of balance and Bruno said it had more wanted assets than Fannie & Freddie. Close up the scoreboard!

CARRIE: 6
LEN: 6
BRUNO: 6
Total Score: 18
And they own 6th place.

Now let's get a check of the final scores except for Jeffrey & Edyta:

26 -- Brooke & Derek
23 -- Toni & Alec, Cody & Julianne
22 -- Warren & Kym, Susan & Tony
21 -- Lance & Lacey, Misty & Maks, Maurice & Cheryl, Rocco & Karina
19 -- Ted & Inna
18 -- Kim & Mark
16 -- Cloris & Corky

One down, 12 to go. The first week seems pretty easy, huh? Not until the results show helps. Come back tomorrow to see who else will join them. See ya soon.
