Week 8: It's Lucky You Set Your Clocks Back an Hour
November 7

You're in November. The falling leaves and Thanksgiving dinners meant about this month, but what's not mentioned is DWTS and that's where we are right now. 5 remaining couples will take on the Instant Jive round a little later on, but we got the first half ready, so let's begin!

Kicking off the party is Rob & Cheryl doing a quickstep to "Take On Me" by A-ha. It seemed that they were on beat and under presure. Now to the judges. Carrie Ann said he's the ideal contestant, Len said the opening section was terrible and Bruno said everything changed once he controlled his bum. Moving right along....

CARRIE ANN: 9 LEN: 9 BRUNO: 9 Round 1 Score: 27

Next up is Hope & Maks also dancing a quickstep to "Valerie" by Mark Ronson w/Amy Winehouse. They pretended it was raining outside and when the sun came out, Maks took Hope's clothing projectile off. By the end, they shared balloons. Let's pop with the judges. carrie Ann said there was so much joy & love, Len said it was a blend of speed and control and Bruno said it's a night of miracles. Now the scoreboard...

CARRIE ANN: 9 LEN: 9 BRUNO: 9 Round 1 Score: 27

Up 3rd, Ricki & Derek doing "(You make me feel Like a) Natural Woman" on waltz by Aretha Franklin. They danced as if it was a prom going on. Now we go to the judges. Carrie Ann said it was Just a little stumble in the end, Len said it was like a river gently going through the dance and Bruno said it was delicioulsy dreamy. Let's turn those scores into a reality.

CARRIE ANN: 9 LEN: 9 BRUNO: 10 Round 1 Score: 29

Nancy & Tristan will now tango to "The Naughty Lady of Shady Lane" by The Ames Brothers. With that routine, she wasn't so naughty after all, and so was this...

CARRIE ANN: 8 LEN: 8 BRUNO; 8 Round 1 Score: 24

And to end the half, J.R. & Karina doing a waltz to "What The World Needs Now" written by Burt Bacharach. there was arm work by the middle of the dance and by the end, they went behind the big heart wreath. Now we go to the judges again. Carrie Ann said something happened in the middle that was magic, Len said he came back all guns blazing and Bruno said it was like a musical valentine dance. Let's shoot the arrow into the board.

CARRIE ANN: 10 LEN: 10 BRUNO: 10 ROund 1 Score: 30

First half is done. J.R. is leading with 30, Ricki with 29, Hope & Rob with 27 and Nancy hanging in there with 24. Now the instant jive round. This is where they can create the dance in an instant. Let's rock!

INSTANT JIVE ROUND

Rob & Cheryl go 1st again dancing to "Maneater" by Hall & Oates. Rob started off at the judges table and leaped off. After a tumble, Rob quickly regained and flirted around with Cheryl's dress. After an interesting move, Rob almost kicked Cheryl and that was it. To the judges we go. Carrie Ann said she's impressed with the seamlessness with the transition, Len said there were no glaring mistakes and Bruno called it youthful energy. Let's energize the scoreboard.

CARRIE ANN: 8 LEN: 8 BRUNO: 8 Round 2 Score: 24 Overall Score: 51

Next is Hope & Maks dancing to "The Best Damn Thing" by Avril Lavigne. Hope was asked by Maks to kiss and Maks took Hope to the floor by carrying. That was one highlight you might see. And now the judges. Carrie Ann said it had definite improvement front the last jive, Len said it was fantastic and Bruno said she was like a wild child. Now let's calmly get the numbers....

CARRIE ANN: 8 LEN: 9 BRUNO: 8 Round 2 Score: 25 Overall Score: 52

We have Ricki & Derek dancing to "Land of 1000 dances" by Wilson Pickett. Derek leaped over Derek and slid, while Derek acted wildly for a bit and both did arm work. Both did a protractor move and that was it. Here's the judges. Carrie Ann said there were a few stops & starts, Len said it was a tough dance and bruno said it was very demanding as usual. Here goes the numbers....

CARRIE ANN: 8 LEN: 8 BRUNO: 8 Round 2 Score: 24 Overall Score: 53

Next up, Nancy & Tristan dancing to "Upside Down" by Paloma Faith. Tristan leaped over Nancy and she somewhat faltered, but by the end, she got down on one knee and asked the judges for help. Alright judges, here you go. Carrie Ann said she got lost in the choreography, Bruno said it's midnight and time to go home like Cinderella and Bruno said it was laid back and loose for a jive. Here comes the numbers...

And to end the program, J.R. & Karina dancing to "Tutti Frutti" by Little Richard. J.R. ran and did a slide to start off and they did it perfectly. Now the judges for the last time. Carrie Ann said he's a class on his own, Len said he's got the X factor and Bruno said he's like a rocket. Let's moonwalk into the scoreboard...

CARRIE ANN: 10 LEN: 10 BRUNO: 10 Round 2 Score: 30 Overall Score: 60

So now's the story. J.R. with 60, Ricki with 53, Hope down by 1, and below that is Rob and Nancy trying to make support with 44. Tomorrow, one couple will be left out in the chilly air. The results show will be predicted in 24 hours. See you later.
