Rooting
Around in People's Mouths Could Be Unpleasant Last time, the teams left India for Thailand, where they searched for a gorilla, played with a tiger, got stepped on by an elephant, and went to temple. Mark & Michael incurred two penalties, costing them the lead. Tammy & Victor pick up their third first-place finish, while Mel & Mike pick up their tickets to Elimination Station. PIT STOP After the 12-hour break, Tammy & Victor grab their clue and head on out.
Victor & Tammy decide that they were going to take things one leg at a time, all the while focusing on the end goal. Cara & Jaime get frustrated... well, Cara, mainly, as they question the authorities on whether or not a BMW can be a taxi. Mark & Michael, still reeling from their last leg mishaps, swear that it won't happen again. Victor & Tammy try to get a hold at Thai Airways to get a reservation for the first flight out of Phuket. The first flight leaves at 7:25, but they need to wait until 6 when the airline opens. Margie & Luke, having recovered from last leg as well, make their way. Margie's drinking a lot of water this leg. Kisha & Jen are on their way as well. All five teams will be on the same flight to... BANGKOK, THAILAND Margie & Luke are the first to a cab, followed by the other teams... and somehow Kisha & Jen manage to pass them. And both of their cabbies are talking to each other, and as they do, locals shout directions, so the two teams know where they're going. Turns out that they were wrong. Oh well. Margie & Luke are the first team to arrive at the boatyard, and they get this as their reward...
Margie takes on this task, as does Jaime. Margie's the first to finish!
Tammy & Victor arrive at the Roadblock with Mark & Michael, just as Jaime finishes. They head out, but before they do, they return for their bags. Victor just tries to do what Jaime did. Kisha & Jen are the final team to arrive. Mark & Michael grab their bags from the cab and return to the boat to head out. Kisha & Jen also head out... but they leave their bags at the dock with the wallet, the passport, and Kisha's shoes! Victor finally finishes the Roadblock... but the propeller doesn't work, so they have to do it all over again! They fix it, but they have to make a stop for their stuff. As it happens, Jen realizes that they have their packs and bags, but not their travel bags! That would be important. Margie & Luke are the first to reach the pier and this clue...
Margie & Luke go to the dentists, figuring that they're really bad singers, Luke moreso than Margie. Cara & Jaime sing, as well as Mark & Michael, but first they have to get back to their bags... How they plan on doing that without a boat is anyone's guess. As it happens, Margie & Luke's cabbie knows the dentist. Kisha & Jen start singing. Tammy & Victor sing as well, citing their Chinese... ness. Mark & Michael decide to head to the Detour, then figure out what they're going to do about their stuff. Meanwhile, Kisha is walking through the streets of Bangkok with no shoes on. Margie & Luke arrive at the dentist's, but soon realize just how hard looking through other people's mouths... and other people's teeth are. Cara & Jaime's cabbie doesn't know where they're going. Mark & Michael find another cabbie to get them back to the boatyard. They don't need their bags to do the task, but at the same time, they want their bags because there are some things in there that aren't replaceable. And now... THIS... is AMAZING RACE IDOL! Kisha & Jen, Cara & Jaime, and Victor & Tammy pick up their respective party people and belt out a tune... in Thai. What they say: .... well, we don't know what they say. What we say: .... Stick to racin'. Luke is trying to put bottom teeth on the top, while Mark & Michael are trying to dig their way out of the hole they're in, using local cabs. All the while, Mark accuses Michael of "not wanting the million dollars, but wanting to play". He'd rather have his important objects d'art than a million bucks. Back at the dentist, we're knocking out smile after smile, and it helps that Margie, as a nurse, isn't afraid to get her hands dirty (C-Note: the nurses I work with would do well to follow her example). They finish in time, and are soon smiling themselves.
Back at the party vans, Kisha has two questions... 1) Are those transvestites? (C-Note: "DING!") and B) Why do they wear so much makeup? (C-Note: "Dischord") And question three... Why are we in a party van with three transvestites? (C-Note: I know this one... Profit?) PIT STOP Margie & Luke are the first to spot the palace, but will they meet Phil and the happy local first? Eh, judging by the other teams' progress... probably. Margie promises not to faint due to lack of water this time. She may faint when Phil gives her the news, though... "You are team... number... ONE!" They've won a great trip to Puerto Rico (C-Note: and Phil... never do that again). Kisha & Jen are the second to make their way to the Pit Stop. But they have no money to hire a cab. Jaime & Cara are the third to make their way to the Pit Stop... but they can't find a cab that knows where the place is. Tammy & Victor are the fourth to make their way to the Pit Stop... and they're in a bitch hurry. Kisha & Jen get a free cab ride to the Pit Stop. All they have to do is answer a barrage of trivia questions.. Kidding. Mark & Michael get to their old cab... s. There are two cabs there. Luckily, they get to the correct cab. Now they're on their way to the Detour. Cara & Jaime's cab and Victor & Tammy's cab are taking two separate routes to the same end. The Munozes are back on the race course, and worried that they may have not enough money, they get the idea to barter what they have on their back. Meanwhile, Cara & Jaime clock in at #2. Victor & Tammy stop somewhere to ask where they are... Meanwhile, both that team and Kisha & Jen are at the mat in relatively similar times. HOWEVER... Kisha & Jen left their travel bags at the Roadblock. They will not be able to leave Thailand without it and the contents therein, so they have to go back and get them before Phil can check them in! ALL the way back. That means that Victor & Tammy, though they were fourth to arrive at the Pit Stop, are actually team #3. Let this be a lesson... assume nothing. Mark & Michael trade in what little money they have, a flashlight, and a compass to get back on the race course. Which means... time for more singing! They make their second mistake of the leg here... assuming that they're pleasing girls. Kisha & Jen get their travel bag and head back to the Pit Stop. Meanwhile, Mark & Mickey barter their way to the Pit Stop... with a carabiner. Who'll reach the crash mat first? It's going to be... MARK & MICHAEL! BUT there's a ruling on the field. It is a violation of the Race rules to use personal effects to settle a bill. The penalty is two hours, but since Mark & Michael did it TWICE, the time is doubled to FOUR hours. Kisha & Jen are the last team to arrive... but because Mark & Michael are still in PT, they're actually team #4. Mark & Michael are brought in to check in. The GOOD news is that this is a non-elimination leg. The BAD news is that they'll have to navigate over a Speed Bump next leg. The EVEN WORSE news is that they still have 3 hours 10 minutes of PT to serve. That time will be applied to the next leg of the Race. Will they be able to catch up?
