Last month, millions of
Americans watched as four pop titans whittled their
teams to the final 12. Now each of them are going to go
to battle, and with the Steal option in play, it's still
anyone's game. Welcome to the Battle Rounds!

A reminder of the rules.
Two singers from the same team will perform the same
song in tandem. The coach will then decide which singer
to keep. They move on to the Knockouts, while the other
singer is available for the other coaches to steal. Each
coach can steal TWICE, so it's up to them to use their
power wisely. So far, Adam is the only one yet to steal
a singer, while Pharrell has used both of his steals. By
the end of tonight, we will start to see what your teams
will look like.
To help them make a
decision, each coach will enlist another:
- ADAM: rock'n'roll queen
Stevie Nicks
- BLAKE: country group Little Big Town
- GWEN: Bush frontman (and her husband) Gavin Rossdale
- PHARRELL: Grammy-award-winning artist Alicia Keys
Artists... PREPARE FOR
BATTLE!
#TEAMADAM: Damien vs. Kelli
Douglas
LA-based TSA officer
Damien survived a life-threatening ordeal, then turned
all four chairs. Single mom Kelli wanted to leave
teaching behind for music. Together, they'll open the
show with "Knock on Wood" by Otis Redding & Carla
Thomas. Blake says this is going to come down to "a
matter of taste" for Adam. Pharrell thought it was a
throwback to the 60s. Gwen was... distracted by Kelli's
body.
ADAM PICKS: Damien. He is
immersed in the song, but will someone immerse
themselves in Kelli? My guess is Gwen. My guess is
wrong.
#TEAMGWEN: Jessie Pitts vs.
Ryan Sill
Jessie overcame a
childhood injury. Ryan wanted to sing during his college
days training as an engineer. He's an a cappella
brother. Today, they're going head to head, pop voice to
pop voice. The weapon, "I Need Your Love" by Ellie
Goulding. Ryan was pitch perfect, while Jessie had the
tone in the pocket, says Blake. Pharrell thought it was
a dramatic battle. Adam respectfully disagrees with
Blake, saying that the song was suited to Jessie's
voice.
GWEN PICKS: Ryan Sill.
But will Jessie get a nod from the men? YES! BLAKE'S IN!
#TEAMPHARRELL: Blessing Offor
vs. Katriz Trinidad
We have an east-coast
west-coast battle with New Yorker Blessing overcoming
his blindness to make a big impression, as does San
Diegan Katriz. Both of them are excited to meet Alicia,
but both of them will have to sing from the heart with
"Do I Do" by Stevie Wonder. A lot of dynamics with this
song. Gwen thought it was an incredible battle. Adam
thought it was more Blessing's thing, but Katriz rose to
the challenge.
PHARRELL PICKS: Katriz
Trinidad. Will someone be blessed by Blessing? YES! Adam
steals! Not so fast! GWEN WANTS IN! But Blessing
picks... ADAM.
#TEAMADAM: Ethan Butler vs.
Matt McAndrew
Chicago vs. Philadelphia.
Son of a pastor breaking free of his gospel roots vs.
guitar teacher trying to change his family's life. The
only level playing field, Adam's choice of "Yellow" by
Coldplay. Blake thought both singers got lost in the
moment, working well together. Pharrell was surprised by
Ethan, calling it a draw. Gwen thought it was more
suited for Matt.
ADAM PICKS: Matt McAndrew.
And Pharrell already used his steals, so it's up to
Gwen... She respectfully declines.
#TEAMBLAKE: Bree Fondacaro
vs. Taylor Brashears
Bree is a vocal teacher
from California helping her little-person father. Taylor
is a cashier from Nashville helping her family food
truck. They're both looking for an escape, and they're
both going to find... "You're No Good" by Linda Ronstadt.
It's cross-genre between Taylor's country and Bree's
rock. Pharrell wanted to see Bree lose herself, while
saying Taylor's "so damn confident". Gwen thought that
the melody was simple, and that performance distracted
it. Adam thought Bree was talking to a mirror, while
Taylor was talking to that dude.
BLAKE PICKS: Taylor
Brashears. Will anyone pick up Bree? Nope.
Heading into the final
battle...
#TEAMPHARRELL: DaNica Shirey
vs. Toia Jones
DaNica lost her greatest
fan in her father. Toia spent her formative years as a
mother. Both of them have drive and dreams and spirit.
But only one can win this final battle. Tonight's
Closer... "Halo" by Beyonce. Both of them can relate to
the lyric and both have a similar range and tone. Gwen
thought it was "mindblowing". Adam thought it was "like
trying to slay a dragon... then slapping it in the face
to make sure it was dead." Blake is wondering where Toia
came from.
PHARRELL PICKS: DaNica
Shirey. For the last time... Artist up for steal...
Boom. Adam uses his final steal MAYBE. Nope. Here comes
Gwen again. Toia picks ADAM.
