The Round of 18 (or
"Third Strike")
July 16 |
It's now down to 18 and the routines have
never been better itself. With Misty Copeland returning, it's time to do
what it do. Here we go!
Starting things off, Jacque & Zack doing hip-hop to "Stay With Me" by
Sam Smith. Both start out lying on the floor doing hand gesturing and
later both got up to do some arm work. After the routine, it was
somewhat reminiscent of the Mark & Chelsea suitcase routine.
What Nigel said: They're so interested in what their hands were doing.
What I said: It was quirky, but it was decent.
Next up, Jourdan & Marcquet doing contemporary to "Disappear" by Mikky
Ekko. 2 umbrellas were suspended in mid-air and by the end, Marcquet
grabbed another umbrella lying around on stage.
What Misty said: Jourdan has the whole package with her body.
What I said: It was okay, but needs a bit more partnering.
We now have Jessica & Stanley doing jazz to "Funkier Than a Mosquito's
Tweeter" by Nikka Costa. Both danced around on an oriental rug and later
on, Jessica did a split. Boy, they were funky.
What I said: That was pretty nice with a rug the whole time.
Now we have Bridget & Emilio doing a jive to "Happy" by Pharrell
Williams. One highlight was Emilio getting through Bridget and there was
a mid-air split and when Emilio when back through Bridget, she did a
stand up flip. She even pretended to do strings to Emilio.
What Mary said: It made me happy.
What I said: It made me happy too.
Next up, Emily & Teddy doing contemporary. Both shook hands and got
ready to dance. Teddy pushed Emily back and it was very creative
throughout.
What Misty said: Emily was singing with her body.
What I said: Emily took control of that dance.
Brooklyn & Casey will now do jazz to "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by
Michael Buble. Casey took it with faster spins and he did it all out of
control.
What Misty said: Casey is so fabulous.
What I said: His spins were so mesmerizing.
Valerie & Ricky will now do a Viennese waltz to "I Won't Give up" by
Jason Mraz. Valerie did a floor sweep and everything else was elegant.
What Mary said: The Choreographer (Lacey Schwimmer) got swept away.
What I said: Beautiful!
2 to go as Carly & Serge do hip-hop. They're skeletons like the old WCW
wrestler named LA Parka. No bones were broken however and it was dark
and to the point.
What Nigel said: It's a difficult routine to critique.
What I said: It was okay, needed more flair to it.
And lastly, Tanisha & Rudy doing Broadway to "Sing Sing Sing (Part 2)."
Not only did the lights made them feel at home, but the sticks were in
play for this routine.
What Nigel said: The choreographer (Warren Caryle) has given it to them
tonight!
What I said: That brought down the house.
Oh mighty axe, what did you take away this
time?........................Stanley & Jourdan. 16 remain. More dancing
next week. Hope it'll be better. Okay? OKAY? Good. Bye.To see this episode in its entirety,
