New Orleans/Chicago Auditions (or "Don't Be Depressed, Ragin' Cajun!")
May 28
So You Think you can dance has to air for thr 11th straight time. Why? i don't know. But it's just a reality show and they can't take blood donors or kidney transplants. However, they'll accept dancers, yes, dancers of all types. 2 audition cities in 2 hours and we will begin.

NEW ORLEANS
Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

LMAD's own Wayne Brady will guest judge the returning duo of Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy and Cat Deeley also returns as well. Let's kick it off with Shelby Rase, 18 and she does a ballet with acoustic music. They loved it. She's on to......Hollywood? Is this idol? Welp, this season, it'll be in Pasadena, CA. which is home to the Rose Bowl and the Tournament of Roses Parade, which is something Bob Eubanks used to do those days. Moving on.....

Tanisha Belshap is next. She is 19, and of 12 siblings. Yikes, that is a big family. She stands otu alone to do ballroom dancing. Off to Hollywood she goes!

Meet The Skippers. They're not from Gilligan's Island anyway, but Skip was from the 6th season. This time, he brought his brother Shane for a tag team. Proving that the older brother is better than the younger brother, the latter got sent packing leaving the older one for round 2. Megan Maracano, 22 is next and her abusive past made the show's charming host break down in tears. However, when it was go time, she broke it down with a dance of her own and it's off to Hollywood. Trevor Bryce was up. The 18-year-old's movements and energy deserved why he came in to play. Hollywood will be his next calling.

With 18 survivors, Marko & Kathryn from past seasons taught them a routine to a song by One Direction, but Skip couldn't take teh pressure, so he ejects himself off the show.

Another day in the Big Easy and Courtney Barnes, 22 was "classy, not trashy" according to her. However, Nigel said her moves belong in a sitcom, so instead of trashing her, the judges save her to round 2. 22-year old Novien Yarber decides to give it another go and this time his lack of confidence took him to round 2. Caleb Brauner was at the Memphis auditions a while back with his father, but unfortunately, his dad passed away. SO here he is all by himself and did an amotional dance that made Mary cry. It was off to round 2 for him. Jacoby Jimmerson taught Wayne a quick Zumba lesson, but his weight wasn't enough to move on. So he moves out.

A pair of 18-year olds by the name of Marcquet Hill and Brooklyn Fullmer worked together to make a great routine, and both of them were off to Hollywood as a result.

With 20 dancers in round 2, there went the sad part.......all of them were cut. Guess there was nothing these dancers could do, so we move to the Windy City.

CHICAGO
Oriental Theatre

With TV time remaining in the show, Nick Garcia, 18, danced without his sister down with an ankle injury. That gave Mary a big scream and it was off to Hollywood for him. Another hopeful was 18-Year old Rudy Abreu, who got a scar after having a hole in his diaphragm. His battle scars went through to Hollywood in a hitch.

By round 2, 12 dancers made it in, but Caleb came back with a vengeance and made it in with just 1 voicemail. It's amazing what a comeback can do.

Next week, we hit up another audition city. Hope to see you soon.
