Pasadena Callbacks (or
"How I Got Through a Total Blackout")
June 25 |
It's about to become a war for a finalist
spot. The Los Angeles callbacks are about to begin. No one is safe. And
it's about to go bonkers. Let the eliminations begin.
CALLBACKS
Rose Bowl - Pasadena
157 got in for a stampede and the first day felt as if it was the first
day of college. The Solos were underway and Tara Lipinski, figure
skating legend and ballerina Irina Dvorovenko joined them. Soon as the
solos began, one of then missed child birth back in Louisiana. That
would be Steven Kador. 36 were out the door and 121 survived.
DAY 2
Christopher Scott and Jasmine Harper from last season taught them
hip-hop. Everyone got to get shuteye by 1:30 am except for Steven who is
still up.
DAY 3
With Jessica Richens and Marie Poppins trying hard for hip-hop, Jessica
got another chance by the judges and.....this time she nailed it!
Marquet Hill thought he wanted a hip-hop partner, but it all turned out
to be ballroom. Oh well.
Next was Jazz and Sonya Tayeh whipped them into shape like a mixing
bowl. Although it was unfamiliar to those outside of their style, Zach
Everheart proved to be why he's the star for the gang of 20. Steven was
out the door after not having a clue what to do with his wife's
childbirth and Marie Poppins was sent home without an umbrella in the
heavy rain. 65 remain.
Ballroom was next as Dmitry & Anya, a couple of more alums did a routine
done to "Timber" by Ke$ha and Pitbull. Even though it got a little too
physical like a game of Whac-A-Mole, 2 tappers showed them how it's
done.
Next...contemporary. Travis Wall taught them a routine and by that time,
50 were gone.
Groups were next and they had all night to make a routine on the spot to
a piece of music. Let's see how it turns out.
DAY 4
Well, they were underway with the group dances and afterwards, only 6
were out the door. 44 remain.
Finally, it was final solo time. One last chance to make the judges a
yay or nay in the top 20. One dancer was named Ricky Umeda. With a
darker piece, the judges showed him the light to the top 20 and they
are......
Men: Ricky Ubeda, Teddy Coffey, Stanley Glover, Emilio Dosal,
Zack Everheart, Casey Askew, Nick Garcia, Serge Onik, Marcquet Hill,
Rudy Abreu
Women: Jessica Richens, Jacque Luong, Carly Blaney, Bridget
Whitman, Valerie Rockey, Jourdan Epstein, Emily James, Tanisha Belknap,
Malene Ostegaard, Brooklyn Fullmer
There it is. Your top 20. Next week, they'll tackle performances from
the weird...to the serious. Whatever routine from a hat they picked will
be the ones to be crowned the king & queen of dance. We'll see you there
for all the action. To see this episode in its entirety,
