LA/Philadelphia
Auditions (or "Pineapple Cheesesteak")
June 11 |
So You Think You Can Dance continues the
audition process by staying in LA and rolling to the east coast. We
begin by staying where we left off.
LOS ANGELES
Orpheum Theatre
Day 2 of 2 begins with a couple named Alla Kocherga and Serge Onik.
Serge came oh so close to the top 20 last year, but this time, he
brought a partner and out came some ballroom dancing. Picking it back up
where he left off, he's teh first to go to Hollywood. Next is Timothy
Joseph. He's a b-boy who did back flips, but his leg was hurt a bit
after that dance. It may be a ticket to round 2 unless something
happens. Casey Askew was next and his emotion got him to Hollywood with
no problem.
Next was J-4, but here's the problem. He is 9 years old and is under the
limit, so he may have to wait a few more seasons before he auditions. In
the meantime, he does an amazing routine and gets to meet Twitch after
wards. Aww. On to Jourdan Epstein. She did a dance dedicated to her
brother and her dance took her to Hollywood. Johnny Gibson makes a
surprise return and did more wacking to get him to round 2. Armen Way
also returned with Malene Ostergaard as a new partner. Boy, did these 2
work? Off to Hollywood they go.
By round 2, Timothy took the medic's advice and drop out while Johnny
went to Hollywood along with 18 other people. On to the next city!
PHILADELPHIA
Merriam Theatre
A city with such history in culture, Dance went into the next stop on
their audition tour. Bridget Whitman would be first. After losing her
dad not long ago, she danced her routine and went to Hollywood
immediately. Next is Amir Sanders, a funky ballerina.....I'm not joking,
who went on a bit of a downfall with pointe moves. That pointed her to
round 2. Jenna Johnson returned with her boyfriend Landon Anderson. He
came to assist her, and that took her to Hollywood. As for her, she was
going to be......an all-star for next season. If only FOX decides it.
After a tough time in Vegas, Shafeek Westbrook came back even harder.
despite being a little sloppy, it'll be round 2 for him.
By that time, Shafeek and Amir went through, but 19 more came through,
too.
DAY 2
Stanley Glover kicked off the day and legend has it that he found his
mom next next to him as a child. Yikes! But he wasn't going to be just
another dead dancer as he did a creature-like dance. That took him to
Hollywood without any zombies at all. Once shot in Union Square, James
"Banks" Davis took a shot at the show, but did slow krump. I have no
idea why he did, but when he went to round 2, he just turned it down. As
for that round, 11 made the cut.
Next week, more auditions as we get closer to Hollywood Week. See you
soon.To see this episode in its entirety,
