Chicago/LA Auditions
(or "Polar Summer")
June 4 |
Welcome back gang to Dance and we pick up
where we left off with what was left of the Chicago auditions, plus a
bit of the LA auditions as well. With that, let's begin.
CHICAGO
Oriental Theatre
Starting things off is Paul Brushhaer alias "The Puppet," who thinks he
may ended up on the wrong show. Instead, he wanted to act like a puppet,
hence the nickname. Good thing he didn't bring puppets on the show.
Anyways, off to Hollywood he goes and next up is Emily James. She has a
marketing degree and auditioned in seasons 8 & 9, but took one season
off for school. Back at it, she decides to resume her dancing duties and
it shows. Off to Hollywood for her. Franchesa Bass is next and her dance
is inspired by aliens. I kid you not. They beam her off to Hollywood
without a hitch.
With guest judge Fabrice joining the powerful 2, one fan happens to be
Jenna Scaccia. After years of watching rehearsals, she decides to dance.
That'll take her to Hollywood. To round it out, James Thomas. He's a
hip-pop contortionist. I'm not playing. Even though it was eye-popping,
round 2 came for him.
22 went on to round 2 and James dropped out, because he couldn't hold
his partner correct. 10 survivors came correct and we arrive in the west
coast.
LOS ANGELES
Orpheum Theatre
Jessica Richens was once a NYC Rockette, but now she's about to rock out
by interpreting lyrics to a James Brown song. She wore the hat, but did
moves to make the muscles go. And it was off to Hollywood she goes. Next
was Valerie Rockey. She idolized Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire growing up
and now she's on stage wearing only red shoes. That makes it
interesting. What makes it more interesting is she's going to round 2.
Also going to round 2 was Kyle Taylor. He's a Wichita native who did a
very interesting popping routine.
Justine Lutz came in next. She had some contemporary, but had everything
else to add in. That equals a trip to Hollywood for her. We have a
couple named Daisie Mendoisia and Mauricio Vera. Despite not having a
way to be in ballet for Daisie, both deserved a great dance and
Hollywood would be their next stop. If Haillee Payne looks like Miley
Cyrus, then that's who she is. Instead of twerking, she did a jazz-funk
routine. It took her to Hollywood in an instant.
Sebastian Sierra returned with a vengeance and this time.....he's still
got it. He's off to Hollywood! Next came Dani Platz. She stopped dancing
at 13 for an eating disorder. Now at 18, she did some contortionist
moves and it was round 2 for her. Lastly was Marie Bonnevay alias Marie
Poppins. Although she didn't come in on a broomstick, she actually did
popping moves. The judges fly her off to Hollywood!
With day 1 done, 14 survivors took on round 2. Kyle couldn't handle the
pressure and decided not to take it anymore, but Valerie and Dani took
it and went on.
Next week, more of the LA auditions. Will it be better than tonight?
You'll find out. Goodbye everyone. To see this episode in its entirety,
