"Week Four": August 1-3, 2005
Last week, we had the
first double-elimination. What will we get this week?
How many people? One person? Two people? Three people?
The whole show? Well, part of that is right, as CBS
banished the Monday episodes to VH1. We will find out in
30 minutes how many people will be getting banished to
obscurity.
We get Brooke Burke reiterating everything that I said
earlier (except for the show banishing part) while Dave
Navarro tells all of the singers that they better
upgrade their game. One of those people, according to
INXS, was Jordis, who gets to reprise her performance
from yesterday. I am waiting for one of those people to
magically find themselves in the bottom three and then
have to perform again. It will probably never happen,
but it would be hysterical if it ever did.
What's not a laughing matter to the remaining people is
the announcement of who will be the bottom three. Like
last week, Brooke asks who they feel are the bottom
three. This time, we only have three people who raise
their hand. Brandon was not one of them, but he got
called down. Ty was one of them - and he also gets
called down. Jessica raised her hand....but she escaped
the bottom three. Fooled you! I didn't fool Tara though
- despite not raising her hand, she joins the other two
in the bottom three.
Ty goes first, and INXS is surprised that he is in the
bottom three. Ty isn't, as he admits that based on his
performance that he should be down there, but he will
kick some ass and perform 'Kick'. Tara also says that
she is going to kick ass, and she gets 'Beautiful Girl'.
Brandon, who surprisingly thought that yesterday was his
best performance, and who INXS is also surprised that
he's down here, gets 'Devil Inside', which allows him to
pop off to the crowd. INXS says that they are surprised
with Brandon and Ty - but not Tara. This isn't looking
too good for Tara...
David warns them that this is the chance for the singers
to redeem themselves - or to prove that the public was
correct. With John and Andrew playing in the band,
Brandon wants to redeem himself with 'Devil Inside'. The
devil must have possessed his vocal chords. He's all
over the place, and although he is facing the band and
performing to the audience, it's taking away from his
pitch and he's not sounding too good.
That wretched effort could very well give Tara (who is
now doing her third stint in the bottom 3) life as she
performs 'Beautiful Girl'. She sings the song well and
she nails the pitch, but she is more walking around and
less showing any stage presence. This isn't the best
that I've heard her, and the emotion just isn't there.
Could that, plus another trip to the bottom, spell the
end of her?
Ty should not be in the bottom three. He wasn't at his
best last night, but it wasn't bottom three worthy. He
sings 'Kick' and easily exonerates himself. He actually
tones himself down and looks much more like a lead
singer of a rock group than a solo performance artist.
If he sang like this last night, then he wouldn't be
remotely close to the bottom three.
My thoughts? Ty should be incredibly safe. I think that
Tara is toast, but it wouldn't surprise me if Brandon
joins her and we get another 2 person elimination.
INXS's thoughts? Ty's performance was fantastic and they
wanted to see him stage dive. They allow him to dive
back to his friends. Tara didn't have a lot of love on
the performance though the pitch was good. Brandon was
excited but he lost his pitch. As a result, they say
that...Tara is not right for the group. Brandon...can
join his friends, so we do not get a double-elimination
tonight.
Tara, who admits that she was getting worn down from
being in the bottom three, expresses her deepest
gratitude and thanks to the band. Dave calls Tara
amazing while the band thanks her for her effort. INXS
calls her over for a final chat. The contestants bawl
and Tara tells them to stop crying over her. AwwwwBarf.
We are now down to single digits. Join us on Monday, as
we get even more single. |
